Stupidest thing I've ever read. They are so many problems with gps informations that you increase your chances of getting lost following this shit. So don't use it as a navigation system, but as a toy. There is only 3 things you need to make a good navigation: Chart, Chrono, Compass. And of course if you've radionavigations systems, use it too !
@cplsha Oh, of course, every flight is mapped out with visual waypoints and times. We aren't stupid, technology fails, and it is easier to know where you are if you are using visual landmarks. The iPads are used for flight planning and airport information. With ForeFlight you can get a detailed current airport map with frequencys and NOTAMS. Our textbooks are on the iPad, and we also have practice tests on it as well. You can even file a flight plan through it over the internet.
@ScientificExploits Not to mention getting the latest weather information and radar summeries available, plus it even has a calculator! Don't get me wrong though, we still work very closely with Plotters, Flight Computers and maps, the iPads are really just a simple tool to get lots of information. I remember on a check ride I was using my iPad when my instructor shouted "Bang!" And told me my iPad just went dead, so I pulled out all my backups, a real hassle but definatly a
Absolutley spot on MrMacAddiction! My flight school requires every flight student to get one.

iPad is a T-PED and is prohibited in aircraft by the FAA. And no it isn't covered under FAR 91.21 b.5, that is for PEDs.
