It is lying saying that the government wants all Tibetans to only speak and write in Mandarin. Tibetans choose to master Mandarin because it would give them more opportunities beyond the wall of monasteries, just like a lot "of Chinese learn to speak and write English. How about the 95% illiteracy rate before 1950 in Tibet? Dalai Lama didn't even give most of the Tibetans chance to learn their own language. Beautiful song but far from reality. He is singing about Kham and Amodo - areas of Tibet now occupied by China.

And there is a picture of His Holiness the Dalai Lama missing in his house altar. If he had that picture, he would be arrested and put in jail. Sad reality! Shame on China for making Tibetans into animals on leash!

He is definitely singing in Tibetan. He begins with singing about being from Khams (Eastern Tibet), and idealizes a woman as a Khandroma (sky-going nymph/dakini). Often Eastern Tibetans can not read Tibetan, so the karaoke lyrics are written in Chinese. In this video the white/red is the Tibetan, and then yellow ideograms are the Chinese translation.

they are allowoed to use tibetan script (alphabet, not ideograms. tibetan has 30 basic letters.) I don't speak chineese, so can't guess the meaning of chineese ideograms. There may be two reasons of using chineese script. 1) translation from tibetan into chineese; 2) tibetan written phonetically for chineese as karaoke; but rather don't belive that Chineese would like to sing tibetan song...(n e way, they do so with english songs) :)
