  • Lol. Well, I've always been a die hard Ford guy. You're secret is safe with me. :)

I've owned an built over 10 Mavericks (even before they became more popular) This one was the second nicest one I've ever owned, but this one is by far the coolest and most radical. This car now belongs to my best friend. Thanks for the comments.

  • I'm a die hard Chevy man, but those little mavericks are sweet little cars. I'd own one and even leave a ford motor in it. Just don't tell my buddies I said that

  • I love these cars! Great built and sexy car! I want one!

  • I think you're right. I am no longer the owner of this one, I just posted the video for my best friend. I've had a few real nice ones that I wish I could have kept.

  • Some day the Maverick will come into it's own. Until then, the smart ones will hold on to them.

  • Thank you :)

  • beautiful maverick....and you also have a crazy garage

  • wow that car is sweet! i love the colors amazing job.my grandpa had a 1973 maverick in those days.it was blue too but not that shade of blue.

  • I agree, a 73 with a 72 Grabber hood. My son found a 74. We put 73 bumpers and quarter extensions on it and a 72 Grabber hood. It really changed the look of the car. Of course the 18" wheels, a 9" disc brake rear end and a few other nice touches didn't hurt. Thanks for the comment.

  • 'Cool car. '73 was the best year for the Maverick (except for the lack of a "Grabber" hood)...

  • Now thats clean!

  • wow my grandpas car! he had this years ago in the late 70's and early 80's

  • I like the work you've done and it shows. The only thing I would change would be to remove the cobra symbol from the side.

  • is this car for sale???

  • @mudding456 This car belongs to my best friend. I doubt if he would consider selling it. But, I suppose anything is for sale if the price is right. This is an immaculate car that was built with much attention to detail and a lot of nice parts.

  • Building a Maverick to this level is going to cost well over 10K. That's if you do most of the work yourself. If you need to have it done, it will be a lot more. We were able to do everything except the machine work in our shop. Your engine would not need to be this radical to be fun. This is a nasty small block. We will be making a quarter mile run this spring.

  • How much did all that cost? I got a 75 Maverick im trying to rebuild

  • I have owned a 70 , 72 , 74 maverick ; a 73 , 71 comet . 70 & 74 maverick 6 cyl., rest were v8`s . 71 comet was mostly a race car that was tagged & insured ; a built 429 , c6 , 4.30 gear , complete pinto front suspension as i had to shave the shock towers for the 429 . ran 10.5 in the 1/4 mile ! btw NICE CAR ! JUST FOUND A 76 MAVERICK 2 Door i am buying monday !

  • Cool, good luck with your build! It's good to have a project.

  • it should do good at the strip. they're really underrated cars in my opinion. i like how you kept it close to original(most use the grabber hood and small bumpers no matter the year), i left my 77 original. recently bought a 250 to build up and use this summer to replace my stock 250. yea post the drag video, should be do good.

  • I agree, Mavericks have always been a favorite of mine. I have built over 10 of them. Yes, much about the car remains original. We converted it to a 4 speed, but It looks factory. We even put a set of (re-upholstered) Maverick bucket seats in it. Good luck with your car. I'll get the video posted as soon as we rip up the 1/4 mile.

  • 250's are good motors but you should get a 200, easier to get parts for and easier to fit them, i.e. more adaptable

  • sounds like a mean little maverick at 4:07 nice job

  • Thank you! It really runs well. We're going to take it to a local drag strip this spring to see how it does. I plan to post a video as soon as we do it.

  • wicked car , i had the same car colour etc with an auto 4:11 gears 400 horse 302 man i regret sell it

  • I have had several 72 Grabbers. I have always likes the looks of the 72. I like the looks of the 73 Grabber as well, although I wish they would have continued using the hood. I think they really ruined the looks of the Maverick in 1974. My son bought a 74 Maverick, and we converted it to 1973 bumpers, and it looks really cool. You can see his car on my website tarantulacustoms.

  • Why didn't you convert it to a small bumper?

  • The 73 bumper is a medium size in the front, and very similar to the 72 in the rear except for the small vertical uprights. I think the 73 bumpers look great on this car. This is a true 73 Grabber, and should be appreciated for all of the quality work that was put into it. I didn't see a picture of your Grabber?

  • Its a beautiful car but the small bumper is something I like as I was just wondering why you wouldn't which it be everyone has there own preference

  • Thank you. I helped a friend build this car, so I don't have the vin information.

  • nice just like my dads but grabber orange whats the vin #
