Life has this habit of getting in the way :) I heard tell from one of my customers that a friend of hers was denied admittance at the Peace Arch (which is a road crossing just South of Vancouver). They didn't want him getting into the country to take away jobs from the Americans. The really looney part is that the guy already had a job in Seattle with Microsoft. He eventually got across the border by taking the ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles...
I know how bad it's getting. I guess it's my Canadian apathy showing. There's nothing I can do to change the situation, so I try to get by with making the best of it that I possibly can. All I can say is, where have you been? People have been preaching this for years. I'm sorry it happened to you (by displacement, really your friends) but it's hard to say that it should matter now after it effects you.
Sorry, just frustrated. I walked up and down my work telling them to email and call their representatives about this bailout, now the market is tanking despite the bailout. Now they are worried. I'm not trying to mean, just point out that we can't sit back an let this go on.

This is outrageous and must be stopped before all liberties are gone. The founding fathers would be rolling over in their graves if they saw what this country has become.

Yeah, that was a monumental screw-up on the part of the TSA and the Bush administration. Did you hear about Senator Edward Kennedy's name being on this list? Apparently he's run into similar trouble before. This situation even lends itself to misinterpretation, and to people assuming that they are being harassed and/or having their rights violated due to being under surveillance from the administration. Bush's people went to somewhat of an extreme trying to "secure the homeland" if you ask me...

Not one of our citizens were treated like this. Nuclear weapons, thousands of them pointed at Russia and them us. Just one push of a button and the world would have been gone. Flying to destinations in the US has become equally difficult for Canadians... A French Canadian businessman with a rather common name had to change his name in order to be admitted to your country. After his name was changed he was no longer on the list... Good to see you again!

It's all good. Life has this habit of getting in the way :) I heard tell from one of my customers that a friend of hers was denied admittance at the Peace Arch (which is a road crossing just South of Vancouver). They didn't want him getting into the country to take away jobs from the Americans. The really looney part is that the guy already had a job in Seattle with Microsoft. He eventually got across the border by taking the ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles...

I know how bad it's getting. I guess it's my Canadian apathy showing. There's nothing I can do to change the situation, so I try to get by with making the best of it that I possibly can. That may seem wrong or like a cop out to some people, but I just can't think of a better strategy from my perspective. Is there something better than making light of the situation that I can do? The best I can do is wait for a new administration before flying into the US again. It's Bush's last hurrah...

Terrible treatment there Joy, I understand their reasons but their methods are really heavy handed. We have a case going on here where some police officers in London followed a suspected terroist on to the tube and shot him in the head. It was a case of mistaken identity.

I have to say though, I have been to the US about a dozen times since 9/11 and had no problems whatsoever, as long as you get there at the airport early, stand in line and obey the rules. But I am white and English, that probably helps!:)

I saw a documentary on INS and they interviewed people who were going for US Naturalization for citizenship. They said it felt more like a criminal interrogation than an interview for citizenship; that they were yelled at and humiliated.

DAMN this SOP is FUBAR Jailing before arresting. I have no idea how they can cage a human being without calling it imprisonment. They should have insisted that they have their miranda rights read. Someone needs to fight that. The list is bad enough , but imprisoning people without due process is unconstitutional, even if it is only for a few hours.
