I know this is initial drill but none the less, the manual of arms is deathly slow. The second count of order arms I hope resulted in the SDI getting a stern talking to by the First Sergeant for teaching slow drill.
slow is smooth and smooth is fast plus the platoon probably pissed him off so he did that for a reason because my sdi did it to us for about week marching at 50 steps per minute sucks.
I served three tours as a D.I., I know what is supposed to be right. The drill manual states all rifle movements will be performed at a cadence count of 120 beats per minute, the same as quick time march. Doing it slow to teach is acceptable but initial drill should be measured against the written standard. The only difference that should be noticeable between Initial Drill and Final Drill is the amount of mistakes, not the speed or intensity; that should have been mastered already.
I dont remember ever shooting the shit at any point before, during or after anything. I went through in 2001, and I hope things havent changed that much in 9 years
I seriously doubt one location drills different then the other. Drill is drill. I don't think this video represents every platoon that comes from SD and I don't think you speak for every platoon that has graduated PI.
Actually There is a difference I'm stationed with a bunch of Marines now who went to San Diego and we were talking about how different it is. Not that one is better than the other just that there is a difference in it.
Damn it was hot out there on that pavement, lol. I don't ever remember falling out in the middle of the damn parade deck and walking around shooting the shit like that. Looks like a few things has changed. Good job for initial drill
at the end, they are fallen out like of formation. they talk amongst themselves and whatnot. they just stand around, and wait for the command fall in. hope that helped.
I WAS A PROUD HOLLYWOOD RECRUIT!!!! Plenty of intesity there!!!!

BlueSubaruWho, in the current Marine Corps Manual Arms of Drill, there is no need to call Port Arms before falling out.
HellBilly02 4 years ago
yeah you´re right..

I could be wrong, but shouldn't he have called "Port arms" before calling "fallout"?
