  • I remember that I have read about a Storch in british hands from J.E.Johnsons book (or was Pierre Clostermann's book?). RAF used it to carry paperwork and personnel between airfields, and it was painted canary yellow and fitted with maximal size british roundels. At some field when wind was from usual direction the pilot had a routine to land the Storch on the 10m wide flat roof of tower buildning, park it there and fly away.

  • Later this plane despite its yellow colour was shot down by a triggerhappy 40mm AAA crew. Pilot survived but plane was a write-off. AAA grunts got an earful.

  • Sweet Aircraft!

    Thanks!

  • Yet another interesting, vintage aircraft! Thank you, auldm.

  • Fantastic, as usual!

aulm, I looked up the inverted-V Argus As 10C-3 engine on the wiki, and was impressed by the size of displacement/compression ratio/octane requirements.

  • @ZombiedustXXX better wiki search for the specs: Argus As 10

  • @ZombiedustXXX I am not 100% sure but I heard that its fuel consumtion was the same as a spitfire.

  • I have read somewhere, that during high winds, people were needed to pull the aircraft down by having to pull it down by the wheelstruts !?

  • @1339LARS I could believe that

  • beautiful aircraft <3

  • great!

  • Absolutely amazing plane
