See this is not true what you all say about Darren Brown being all fake and all. You all miss the main fact, that the camera looking at Darren Brown was indeed not still. So it would of taken a lot of skill and editing to keep the other picture still with the camera. The other camera at the back which we did not see much of was there to record the event also so that there was no cheating. The green screen idea is Bogus considering that the show was aired Live...
Did anyone see Derran Brown night recently? In it, Derran referred to this as "the biggest mistake of his career", but he also made sure to say that it was not a camera trick. On that Friday, the mothod he gave was a load of rubbish, yes. I don't think any camera trickery was involved. There was always going to be speculation about that, but Derrens track record was as cleen as could be.
Personally, I don't think he predicted it, but I think he did had a proper mehtod.
This sort of thing is way to risky to do on live television. One slip up could have ruined Derren Brown's television career. I'm not surprised that they took extra measures to make sure nothing could go wrong.
cloth requires 2 cameras live that is old hat the green screen for past few years live is added by a lens ring and leds most weather reports are done that way now and this is what I personally use
search reflectomedia MicroLite in gogle but dont expect to get it cheap as a bit of old style cloth
It is certainly a clever computer/camera trick, but it is worth mentioning that the entire production team would have had to have been involved to pull this off.. Remember that the next time you watch one of his shows.
Well i don't know about you lot but i believe EVERYTHING derren does. i think he would fake nothing, ever. but does anyone know a video that shows him predicting the lottery anywhere on the internet that is reasonably good quality and stuff?
With regaurds to this video. 100% correct solution to how it could have been done. This was my first thoughts as well. I could do this from home with my equipment so I'm sure the bbc could.
1# The whole thing was pathetic. He didn't "predict" anything. If he had done he would have revealed the numbers BEFORE it was announced not AFTER. That crap about only the BBC can read the numbers first. There is no law about predicting 6 numbers on tv before the BBC. There were 100's of ways it could have been done from the moment he told us he was "predicting" the numbers AFTER the draw which is why I lost interest and just thought what a load of bollocks.
This is exactly what I thought. His psychic people explanation was ridiculous and against everything he's ever said. Same with the alleged attractive paper in the 3rd episode. I sincerely hope there's a payoff in the final show where he reveals he's been winding the public up.
if you liked him being mysterious you would of never watched the show on TV. Derren has ruined his credibility trying to pull this off. I was quite impressed with the mind tricks but camera tricks are lame.
well you can still believe its deep maths if you like , but dont you think that it was strange that on the night Darren wouldnt even show his "team of 24 special maths brains" the nubers hed sorted from their predictions.
BBc wouldnt let him show numbers , lol , anyone is free to show the balls that they think will win a law against that does not exist., lol
No win this was a mega fail all the way , I really dont know what he was thinking he used to be believable before did this basic trick
Am I the only one who thinks that math was involved here? Derren claims to have spent over a year on this single project, which means he would have had to look at probability, alithogrims and chance. Does nobody remember a few years back a group of math and science students managed to predict the numbers of lottery, claiming it took them 2 years? Well I do, it's possible i am sure! I wonder how he did it, illusion or pure genius? :D
you know what would have been a fuck load more convincing? if he had bought a ticket with thos numbers beforehand - that would be financially and for the effect of the trick the best thing. he would now be the front page of every headline around the world rather than a little bit shitter than before
yes it is possible that he used math, but unlikely. but i think that it was a clever camera trick that was well managed but im not saying that it definaitly is a camera trick
The split screen overlay covers the entire left half (or so) of the image, so it includes the floor. The smallish matte used in this video is just a rough example. The real overlay is a bit bigger.
I'm of the opinion that the entire opening bit was prerecorded. That is, it was shot earlier with a real handheld camera. We then cut to another prerecorded angle, a long shot with the hand held cameraman visible in the shot. Then another fixed camera with preprogrammed jiggles was brought in to replace the handheld camera.
It's only truly live after :10. Note Derren waving his hands ostentatiously to really "sell" the idea that this is all happening in real time.
To all those who are disappointed that this trick involved special effects, does it not impress you at all that he pulled this off LIVE? This sort of special visual effect is easy to accomplish in post-production, but LIVE TV, by definition, doesn't have a post production. How is the transition accomplished between being shot with a real hand-held camera and then with a fixed camera in the exact same position with pre-programmed movements to emulate a hand-held camera?
@balurker Crazy as it may sound, i think that might well be the key. My immediate first intuition was that there was something off with the waving to the second camera (or more specifically with the cut back) - it may well be that the camera is NOT hand held from that point on but a pre-programmed computer-operated "shaky" camera. W/ a pre-recorded beginning... The shaking later on doesn't look human, if you are able to dig these kind of subtleties.
There is an update on my channel now showing a solution to the clue left by Darren on Friday and showing an ealier camera trick reveal from the advert clues
Whether it be a blue screen or green screen it DOES need a chroma colour lock of some sort a colour that is not in the video , the green screen is not a REAL green screen (material) as you would use in a video studio at home this is a chroma overlay in green digitally added by PC
If it were real, the lottery people would be shitting themselves and no way can you predict a machine's randomability!!! It's against the laws of physics or something. You can't predict a machine, who has no mind or coinsciousness. Having people guess the results based on whats been announced before on the lottery over the past few years. It's ridiculus. He must be magic or he's really religious and asked God for a favour. They are the only possible two explanations. I know, lol
of course he was full of s*** when he said 24 people predicted the numbers.... those 24 people can try and predict 6 numbers for another million years...they wiil never do it
Exactly, if he had shown them the numbers before the draw - then we would believe him. He always showed his 24 assistants the balls before the announcement but on that night for some reason he didnt. hmmm. odd?
It is SIMPLE If He Had Bought a Lottery Ticket With These Numbers We would all have believed in Him. He did not had to explain anything.Govt is desperate for money and they want sudden rush towards this trend
Of course it's a camera trick, otherwise he would have watched the draw in the same room as his 24 assistants and shown them the predicted numbers first.
If he could really do that he would not be braking his balls coming up with new tricks ,he could be the worlds wealthiest man .I think he has let himself down because it is too implausable and the trick involves lies and deceit .
yes i did watch it and yes he explained that those 24 people did it but why didnt he show the 24 people the balls they chose, like when they had 4 numbers right
derren employed some computer hackers to put the numbers on the video of the balls in real time. its basically a green screen trick. while its amazing he didnt predict anything and basically is looking at blank balls. they can even be moved as the computer knows where each balls is at any time and can draw the image properly.derren is doing nothing here. derren uses cheap tricks and pretends they are mind tricks. he usually doesnt admit it though. friday will be interesting.
Because the assistant behind the scenes had seconds to drop the balls in as they came out and then get out of the shot before the live shot was restored. Ping pong balls are not exactly identical and unless they went through 14 million combinations of balls they wouldn't know that this combination wouldn't quite fit.
I'm open on this one but the idea of this could be right although he will still say its maths or something.
The leftside is definately false after darren moves away from it AND that ball does move for certain you can see it on my big screen with the slow motion original video.
easily sorted with motion cameras that can be software controlled , you might notice that there is only horizontal and vertical movement no diagonal which would be present with a real hand held cam .
Motion detection doesnt exist in cameras ? its in just about every car robotic factory for quality use nevermind movie work and has been for over a decade its nothing new it just needs 2 setpoints , a green pixel screen co-ordinate and anything in proper half would provide that simply and easily
I also agree it would have been easier with a static shot and not just a wobbly thing. Perhaps that was there to add a false level of genuity to proceedings though?
Well we only assume that its a handheld camera because we have see the cameraman , its just another part of the misdirection to make it seem like no software tricks could have been added., In my opinion the whole thing is shot from a tripod camera with the Overlay and shakes software suppied by another camera live editing chroma key gismo.
There is no way a "shoulder" or "underarm" cameraman could keep a camera as steady as it is in some shots.

I had noticed those but there was only so much titling I could put in a 2 minute video quickly.
Obviously the marks there for some reason MAYBE THE LIVE COVERAGE IS ALSO GREEN SCREENED ONTO THE TV FOR SOME REASON .
