  • +1 Music Video before MTV. Brian Auger was the Shiznit back in the day. Too bad audio quality is poor here. Worth hearing in good hi-fi q.

  • Brian Auger Smokes.. Has anyone heard "Live at the Baked Potato"? Buy it, and give a Listen.. Fantastic CD..

  • Awsome video, but why ruin it with the TCR time code? There are so many videos on Youtube with this style timecode. I'm convinced many users are adding them on themselves with Adobe Premier or the like. Quite why I'm not sure.

  • @trybeinganihilist This may be just a guess, but is it possible the line is there for continuity purposes?

  • @monkeysoulpoet That is certainly a strong possibility.

  • Get Brian Auger's Oblivion Express CD 'Closer To It'. He wasn't closer to it, he absolutely nailed it perfectly. I've played it for years from time to time and I'm still waiting for it to go stale to my ears. Amazing talent.

  • Bloody brilliant. And he still is.

  • Just before The Oblivion Express

  • i think it would have been great if THX1138 walked randomly into the frame

  • out-of-control good!

  • My gawd, this is a revelation. Amazing! Thank you so much for putting it up!

  • You ad a Hammond to your sound and your there!

  • amazing how tacky and shit all those chromakey 80's videos now look, yet THIS looks like it could have been made yesterday.

  • who would love to write this song now - i tell you what i would its awesome

  • i mean it is nearly a exsample for its time..

  • @KingCrimson82, obviously it's very 1968, but the camera movements and the way it's edited make it look more like a retro video from the 1980s or 90s

  • @modifiedcontent yes, its a great idea, wasnt cheap these days ,i guess

  • Definitely borrows from Spencer Davis' "I'm a Man"

  • He's speeding his fucking nuts off the cunt. Brilliant stuff.

  • Fuck,,,in,,,,sub,,,,,lime.

  • A far as I know this is from the Bee Gees show Idea, 1968.

A british TV show with the Bee Gees, Julie Driscoll. and Brian Auger.

  • fuckin' awesome, can't be beat'

  • amazing its like they anticipated all the modern videos with that minimalistic background and buncha female dancers! They invented that whole music video genre it appears.

  • brianのpvの中でも、かなりキテます。

  • The melody is cloned by "I'm a man" by Spencer Davies Group (Steve Winwood)!

  • @jiulianus I think Stiwie Winwood gimmie some.

ok is its Right - Im A Man 80%...

  • Hammond........FUCK YEAH!

  • @BandwagonJumper007 Just the sound of the 60s. Aka Austin Powers music. Haha

    Greeeeeeaaaat!!!!!!

  • WOW you can just keep re-watching it and not get tired! LOL

  • outta' sight

  • so so cool

  • Love me til tuesday was a film of sorts; these clips look very similar to david bowie's film. Look em up if they are still here.

  • Does anybody know the story behind this "video"?

Is it from a movie? The production value is ridiculously over the top... (and I mean it in a good way.)

  • terribly amazing! i know i'm not the only one who learned the dance, heh

  • remember bopping to this as a mod in the 80s tune

  • 80's mod was a cool thing

  • ouah!!! aaargh!!!!! brian auger!!!!! génial! fantastik!!!!modissime!!!! i saw him 5 years ago in a little club in paris it was great!!!!!!!!! il suffit d' ecouter sa version de "higher.." de sly stone démentiel!!!!!!!! et "listen here" alors la c 'est l' apocalypse!!!!! thanks for this great video!!!!

  • fucking love that Hamhond

  • @angie4josh I'm guessing out of my price range, paid a bloody fortune for my Yamaha.(and it isn't 1968)

  • Thanx for posting this rarity

  • Is this video really from 1968?!

Apart from the clothes etc. it's at least 20 years ahead of its time!

  • Yes, it's from 1968 (not just the clothes do give it away as such; some filming with later vids is still not gelling as well as some of the instruments point to putting this in the late 1960's) -- but Brian Auger's music was quite ahead of it's time as well!

But the whole vid. is ahead of it's time, although it probably would have been difficult to probably put this on video channels in the 1990's (although maybe not in the 1980's).

  • @modifiedcontent

hey modifiedcontent i love this song and the video is hilariously awesome but i'm afraid i disagree with you. this might be the MOST 1968 thing i've ever seen! BUT i wonder if it was an influence for the white stripes in their "Seven Nation Army" video.

  • @modifiedcontent hahaha,i think its funny how you react.the white room the railroad or something for the camera which is uses to show the distance also,is briliant.and i thought better than white stripes video.and up to date because retro is up to date always, the bodysuits are obviosly 1968 havent you seen austin powers?

  • @modifiedcontent, I agree! The video immediately caught my attention with how modern the filming and editing was. The song is great, too! I only knew of Brian Auger and The Trinity through The Monkees's TV special from 1968, so this was a cool surprize. -- Matt

  • @modifiedcontent The hair and dance styles are pure 60's but the video style seems ahead of it's time.

  • @modifiedcontent is that a joke??? that's the quintessential aesthetic of 1968! Everything you see in pop, rock, soul and everything related to, all there was to say has been said between 1964 and 1969 being 1967 the peak of it all...

  • @ghostdog7575 I think her or she is referring to the way it was shot... people think that movie-style production values on music videos didn't come until the 1980s.

  • @wookie72 yes... and obviously he has never heard about scopitone...

  • @wookie72 anyway... I don't get it... there's just a sequence shot with a dolly, one with the camera on wheels and good montage... this too is tipical of the 60s

  • @ghostdog7575 TO be fair, it must have been pretty wild at the time to see.

  • @wookie72 sure! wild as the 60s!

  • @modifiedcontent No stupid, he just never grew up physically. It's really 1986, dyslexia you know.....

  • @modifiedcontent With Brian looking as young as he does there I can only assume it is original. Not seen it before. What show was this from?

  • Be sein U!

  • Did I just see Emma Peel?

  • Hmmm...It sounds like a "previous" "I'm a man". Doesn't it?

  • Whatever model # that Hammond is .........sure gets torn up at the end...........I like that!

  • how can u give that the thumbs down? hes far better at singing.

  • it's apples and oranges, besides 'better' is not a very useful term when it comes to musicans ;) comment voting is a smokescreen for hanger-ons anyway. I'd recommend to listen to season of the witch... you might even like it ;)

  • so awsome,, ace!!!!

  • Schwinnnnnngggggg.

  • at 0:05 the black line in the middle looks like a pole and Brian is standing simply on it with the piano.

    trippy.

  • very cool

  • @Rodolfobia

    piano?

  • 1.Auger

    2.Liszt

    3.Thalberg

  • No, no, no!

    1. Auger

    2. James taylor

    3. Bobby Espinosa.

  • This gem has made my day.

  • Fuck yeah! thats all i can say to that!

  • what organ is that

  • none other than the peerless hammond b3.

  • think you'll find its a c3!

  • Hmmm... this one seems to have no waterfall-keys like A/B/or C-Hammonds and the drawbars-section looks different.

  • @shakermakerno9 It's actually an RT3, internally indentical to the B3 and C3.

  • Brilliant ... Thanks so much for youtubin' it

  • This is 40 years old and still Brilliant, cool and funky.Dig it!
