Jamie, the reason Casey Anthony was found not guilty in the case was because the prosecution was going for 1st degree murder. With 1st degree they have to prove a pre-meditated intent to steal the life of another human being, which they couldn't do. It was the prosecutors fault, they should have gone for 2nd degree murder if they didn't have sufficient evidence. Which would have at least had her in jail for the rest of her life. The jury has to follow the definition of 1st degree to the letter.

Yes, The prosecution over-charged Casey Anthony and could *NOT* Prove First degree murder.

The Jury *COULD* have Decided 2nd Degree Murder, or Manslaughter charges with enough evidence.

Someone may be guilty clearly, but the lawyer will still try and defend them. Its their job etc. Not saying its right or anything. Yeah its screwed up when someone could go to jail for a couple years for possession of drugs, but a murder or rapist could serve maybe a year or two.
