  • Beautiful technique! Thank you very much for showing us this video.

  • thank you very much

  • Thanks Gary

  • nice!~

  • Always enjoy your videos, thank you.

  • Thanks this will be good for avoiding those pesky zombies

  • I enjoy your aikido tutorial very much. I am now taking tenshin aikido and I am a black belt in kuk sool won. I am enjoying aikido so much more, and my background in kuk sool had help me alot in grasping these new techniques. Thanks you so much for sharing you expertise on youtube. Domo Arigato Sensie...

  • This is exactly what I have been looking for! Itwill take a bit of practice. I'm going to have to watch this a few times first and then just do it.

  • at 1:27 looks like wingchun

  • @stompySharpNpointy I believe Aikido does have either inherited or has this deflection move in common with Wing Chun Kung Fu.

  • @Junjokar Actually many (if not all) martial arts know this or a similar kind of deflection. That's what attack vectors and human anatomy dictate. Aikido doesn't have any direct connection to Wing Chun and nearly all the principles and many techniques are taken from japanese fencing. That's why Aikido is also trained with Bokuto and Jo, and the most common attack when learning is Shomen Ate.

  • have a neighbor here he's a korean boastful. he said he's an aikido expert eventhou people did'nt ask.he suppose to be humble. We Filipinos here are no skills bout dat aikido shit..but if continues his bigmouth arrogancy...there's a bunch of bullets here!!!

  • @zepidonna Even among the monks there are some shitheads^^ I feel responsible to say sorry about that guy,he isn't real aikidoka... Let him live in his little world, reality will find him sooner or later;-)

  • @zepidonna Ask him to prove it with a practice session... call him out on his arrogance, then within reasonable bounds, give him his humility for the day if he is false in his way(s). Any expert in any Martial Science will not divulge how expert they are, they would rather watch, listen, then ask if they can show how a move is done better.

  • What's the diffrense between their GI's or what ever you say :P, the instructor's gi has a much lighter dark colour almost grey and the second guy the pupil or whatever has a darker black colour

  • cool

  • The elbow is next to the face. Ong-Bak FINISH!

  • really great

  • I'am trying it out, but I find it hard to do since there is no one to practice with. lol.

  • @WarriorOfTheHeavens You can practice with me. I live in the UK, I'm guessing you dont. Thats okay though, u can just come stay at mine for a bit ;)

  • @WarriorOfTheHeavens i was just thinking that where ya from? im in uk i wanna start this up full time iv done bodybuilding got size now i wanna control my size into somthin that hurts lol

  • Thank you sensei.

  • bong sau

  • @frizzzzzzal Yes thats wat I was thinking it looks just like a bong sau with curved footwork!!

  • bog sau

  • @frizzzzzzal hahaha almost!!!all ya need to do is grab the arm on the way down!!

  • I'm really loving these vids, very well explained lessons!! Thumbs up!

  • these comercials suck

  • @MrBrianlowdown click f5 or refresh lol

  • There's some damn text covering the video the whole time. This is definetely a great video, but noone can see it cause some dumbass put this text on top and noone can see the actual video. So what the fuck.

This problem occurs with all the aikido videos from expertvillage I found. So again, what the fuck.

  • @FellaM07 click CC

  • WTF is this text all over the damn video?

  • yeah great videos but this fucking text in the middle of the video ......... -_-

  • hey predyz can you show a few examples?

  • Why do some of you viewers get it? I've been boxing 30 years, but I understand that this is a DRILL---only a drill to isolate and perfect the movements of a certain technique. As a boxer sometimes we only practice hooks.

  • Aikido the way of the harmonious Spirit

  • This uke nagashi application is wrong just like Shangrila said. The elbow of tori get totally unprotected in the action. If the pusher is somehow trained even in aikido, can use his external arm to grab the uncovered arm and apply a great counter ikkyo or sankyo ura technique. I know this may be only for show, but there are many other manners to keep control of uke (the pusher) without getting uncovered like that. Of course those methods are much less... spectacular... but much more effective.

  • Theirs a new kind of akido that is very popular now and everybody is doing it.It called gun

  • Gracias !!awesome!!

  • i always love aikido but i dont know how and where i could learn

  • The problem with that technique is that after one pass an attacker of any competence will stop and face you within striking distance with time to draw a weapon or strike; so you only really get one pass with which you must execute a technique or throw which disables the opponent, otherwise you'll be caught out eventually

  • This guy is NOT doin that shit right. Renossa was under Take Sensei or Seagal Sensei w/e, he clearly wasnt payin much attention . if you youe elbow infront of sumone ( 1:43 ) all they got to do is grab the arm and your fucked . Broke NOT2MENTION his footwork sux, Aikido is not like boxing or mma you train both standis, he keeps goin back to his left. so instead of enter and takein that motherfucker out he steps away then go's in , im sorry but all he is doin is given his uke more opportunities.

  • @shangrila107 I understand what your saying but its just a drill. statistically if you u create space more then 10 sec from your attacker must wont reengage. So if I was to do this off of someone trying to push me (which is a very common attack) I would do it and run.Its a good self defense techinque. If I couldnt run then I would do the techinque but add something that would take him out. I see what your saying but remember its a drill. You don't keep throwing giving your oppenent 30 chances lol

  • @abenice Listen its done wrong, not right wrong, drill or not , you should train right every time , if you train wrong it will come out wrong. PRACTICE MAKE PERMANENT, PERFECT PRACTICE MAKE PERFECT. Ukenagashi comes from sword but Seagal is the only one who does it in Aikido , Renossa was his student , my Sensei is one of his current students , i know how to do this. and to say Renossa's name right.

  • Wow why do peopl have alot of doubts on aikido. Do you wanna learn martial arts for self defense or to fight with other martial artist with violence? Dont you know that aikido is being thought for self defense for police? Do you really think some random guy will attack you with 10 years of kung fu experience?

  • @uptop84 but it could happen, dont think you cant piss sumone off just cas they got a 4th dan.

  • click to skip ad 0:01

  • get the frickin writing off so i can c lol

  • thank you for your aikido series. its a great supplement to the training i receive

  • my dad use to do this and was a trainer but i dont get the point of it if you dont strike.

  • Ur a great teacher man. I learn alot. Your videos are very clear

  • that is awesome. If only i had someone to practise it with , it would've been even more awesome.

  • If you think stuff like this works your living in a Fantacy World

  • @laurenblacksinister There is always at least one hater in a group and you laurenblacksinister are the one.

  • @martinandree dont take this the wrong way bro, ONLY WRESTLING & FULL CONTACT FISTFIGHTING WORKS. Thats it. people pay good money for these guys to teach them how to fight or defend them selves. if some one would attack them, these people would be directly to blam for there safety.

  • @laurenblacksinister Oh, I won't take it the wrong way. Me too, I was in disbelief about Aikido but was looking for a new martial art to study and gave Aikido a chance. That was about two years ago and all this video showed was aikido's version of a parrie block and he didn't follow it up with anything. Now in class I we did this and followed it up with a move called Kote Gashi (spelling?) and I almost got my wrist broken before I even knew what happened. Trust me man, it's real.

  • @martinandree the only people who could use this for real would be someone who would already be abale to crush his aponit with 1 move in like 2 seconds. I'v studied ALL of the martial arts. if you want to know how to train, i could give you numerous ways, but this video unfortunately is just ganna waste alot of peoples time. and money

  • @laurenblacksinister

It works against a push which is a common attack often followed by some sort of strike. i.e a haymaker or bolo punch. Its a good drill to practice to defend someone trying to push you against a wall or lockers or set you up for a strike. You obviously see the weakness now understand the strengths and you will reap the rewards. God bless!!

  • "1.55" a 180 twist and punch him with the ellbow...

  • the only prob is that in a real fight noone tries to catch the enemy only punch him

  • @TrOnEoNeRgRoNz That depends on how many people are being aggressive toward you. Don't limit your view of fighting to be a one-on-one duel to the death all the time. Aikido has a strong focus on getting attacked by more than one person, and is designed to work in both multiple attacker and single attacker situations.

  • @TrOnEoNeRgRoNz Tell that to women in parks late at night.

  • I've seen this same situation many times..... two guys at a party..... It starts with some smack talk, then the shoving begins......this would work beautifully

  • Only a down syndrome kid would attack you with a slow motion straight push attack. Hopefully we can redirect his attack to the side and make a run for it :D.

  • its a drill that will help you against any or most straight attack..

  • Kj ur an idiot

  • Kj ur another mma idiot

  • Mr Judo you son't know what your talking about. if you apply aiki to an MMA fight then you will see what BJJ do. it's all about learning to use someones wait against them. p.s. I can't stand the way this guy pronouces Japanese words. If your gonna learn a style learn to speak it properly.

  • @kjsantana

He is pronouncing very well; let's see you try oh, great wiseass.

  • So hook aikido would be effective in a streetfight, but in a profight it would be ineffective.. Okk then lol @ hook

  • If u scroll down u said aikido is used against only stupid people. U really r an idiot hook!!

  • Bail u practice aikido? R u a fellow akidian?

  • Ball ur a real smart fellow!!

  • Ball dnt even bother.Hook ura idiot! Like my father says... U cnt undo Stupid!!

  • @MrJudo15

Yeah I bet he says that alot to you

  • Hookah read ur shit again and realize how much of an idiot u really r lol @ hook

  • @MrJudo15

    Well fuck you right back.

You're the one who can't make arguments, and then you post shitty comments saying I'm the idiot?

On top of that you're suggesting that you should attack aggressive people on the basis that they're about to push. How about trying to walk away.

I know there are situations where you can't do that, but at least try it.

  • Hook ur a loser. In all ur life nobody has neva tried to push u with 2 hands before to start a fight with u? Umm interesting where do u live i wnt to live there !

  • @MrJudo15

So you attack people just if they push you.

Opposite to every other martial art, where you learn to control yourself, and avoid violence, you learn to attack as soon as someone attacks you!!?

    That's BS

  • This is so lame.

Who would ever attack with BOTH arms STRAIGHT out like that

Or maybe Aikido is the martial art against that can only be used against stupid people.

  • da its just an exsample

  • @bassidai

    Da!

It's still the same. For me to see, you can't use this in a real fight. Unless you (as MrJudo15 proposes) attack as soon as someone touches you. And that puts aikido in an ever worse light

  • actually hook, in all those "useless" blocks, joint locks, and throws that look so stupid to you, there are dozens of ways to break bones/limbs and hyperextend joints, but aikidoists don't practice them in the dojo, since after a while nage would have trouble finding a uke who wants to have a hyperextended elbow. for example, when practicing an irimi (entering) technique with a redirection, the outside arm can easily, as it sweeps over, strike the head. watch for the opportunities in the films.

  • nicely worded

  • hook, in aikido, you dont attack "as soon as someone touches you." you can see in this video that sensei "attacks" as he sees the opponent's attack COMING, which is BEFORE he's touched. The aikidoist waits for this point for a reason. The opponent is generally COMMITTED to the attack and usually cannot redirect or withdraw. This is what makes aikido effective.

  • hook, when someone throws a punch, what keeps him from being slightly off-balance when he is fully extended? your face. if your face is not there, he WILL be off-balance, if only slightly. aikido acts to increase the opponent's imbalance (tenkan) and take advantage of it. similarly, when is your punching opponent weakest? during the first 1/3 or so of the path of the punch. aikido also takes advantage of that weakness (irimi). weakness and imbalance of the opponent are the strengths of aikido.

  • @bailashtoreth

    @bailashtoreth

At least I can respect what you're saying which can not be said about MrJudo15, because he mainly talks BS.

But I still have a hard time believing that you'll be able to do this against a boxer, or Thaiboxer for that matter. From what I've seen, they train to throw the hand "down the pipe" and back again, as fast at it came out, to avoid situations where your hand gets caught (Exactly like this one).

  • @bailashtoreth

(continued) I'm not saying it can't work in a streetfight. but if you trained Martial arts for many years, then you definetly should be able to handle a streetfight. And in a profight, I see Aikido being quite ineffective.

But If you can prove me wrong fine. But so far I haven't seen any fights where Aikido has been very effective (other that Steven Seagal movies)

  • hook, here's the thing about a "street fight": fighters don't dance around each other, jab, cover, jab, cover, hook, etc. boxing form is out in a street fight. what does a boxer do when the inevitable rush/tackle happens? I have seen many GOOD boxers and black belt karate/TKD people lose badly in a street fight because the rules are gone. aikido has free form "sparring," meant to simulate combat. techniques don't make a good aikidoist - experience does.

  • (continued)

a wrestler/judo fighter/bjj is in trouble if he dances around a boxer or a thai boxer, but the boxer is in trouble if any of those others get inside. you make the assumption that an akidoist tries to react to the opponent. but a real aikidoist (not just some guy who learned some aikido techniques) takes advantage of opportunities just like a boxer does when he sees his opponent drop his guard.

  • That bald guy is Good! :D

  • I like this

  • lol

    american tryin' speak japanese

    it's horrible

  • These are the only good videos expertvillage has ever posted...

  • agreed

  • I AGREE !

  • wrong..the videos with tricks were good

  • @Khempejjer You should see the 'karate' instructor. Royally sucks.

  • @Lexicologist71 yeah and i bet you're hot shit right psh

  • @Brady2k10 I'm not hot shit, but I've at least earned a black belt.

  • @Lexicologist71 in what martial art?

  • looks like a wing chun bong sau.

  • It is a bit like a collapsing bong sau, but there isn't the rolling/steering action, nonetheless it is sticking and he is drawing him in the direction he going. It is a little forward leaning for my liking.

The footwork is such that he is doing reverse triangular, so he is not in a position to lap, but he could certainly elbow him as he comes round.

  • @DANTHETUBEMAN .... yes, it's really like a bong sao, but with a bong sao i can continue with a lap sao and punch in is face XD

  • i think WC and ikeydo are vary fluid and would make a exelent mix.

  • i am from europe and had lessons with VDB allot of times before(really good Aikido master). You shuld find him on the net.Anyways, it's great

  • i am having aikido lessons for few years and it's exellent. it really works, from punches to countr-weapons.

  • This should work. I've used this before in freeform sparring.

  • I COMPLETELY agree, I get the feeling Aikido could work, but because no one ever uses it outside of class I don't think anyone actually adapts the martial art... I'm getting off-topic, ANYWAYS

I bet Aikido has a way to deal with fast punches, but I've never seen it : /

  • there is a way. its called dedicated practice. lol. usually the instructors with previous martial arts experience will put some emphasis on it.

  • Comment removed

  • excellent ......

  • They are? :O

  • so your saying that the UFC are all girly men who enjoy rolling around on the ground with other men in small shorts? your smart

  • thank u

  • I rest my case...

  • Common ignorance when it comes to people who do not understand how aikido works.

  • I would have laughed so hard if the attacker had gotten pissed and then one punched the instructor. Aikido is nothing to play with though. If you know what you're doing, you can quickly evade life threatening situations

  • Wing chun is beautiful AND deadly..

  • Wing chun is an offense martial art, while aikido is soley a defense martial art. you can say, aikido is the "ying" of all martial art if you consider as "yang"

  • where do you think aikido came from

like how the japanese called gung fu kenpo

  • I loved thier music back in 1980s too. everybody have fun tonight!" everybody wang chin tonight" yeaaah yeahhh

  • Good times.

  • i though wang chin was the art of taking extenze till your wang grows to your chin?

  • people underestimate Aikido because it looks so smooth and thare is no clashing or banging, like when I watched a boxing match from a private penthouse I looked down at the ring but from where I was(so far up) I could hear no sound, so I saw arms swinging but no impact could be heard so it looked stupid. Aikido is an inteligent art for real combat on a battlefield, You cannot afford to struggle and use up all your energy when in a war because it's not based on one on one but a thousand on one.

  • aikido is so beautiful, i love it

  • searh "comkaijudo"

    for more aiki vid.

  • BDASS,

If the attacker stronger or bigger than the defender, the defender will apply different defence could be appliacble with the attacker.

Usualy the Aikido trainee is able to specify which move will beat the attacker when he look at him.

  • What if someone resists ? or if the person is a much larger mass

  • people resisting will suffer more, thats the advantage of aikido, the more you resist, the more it'll hurt.. the bigger they are, the harder they fall, but it depends, you got to train a lot and master the art to use it effectively or you'll just end up hurting yourself..

  • great video thanks a lot , but i can't train alone

  • tai ji move!!!

  • well put.. aikido is designed to elude and defense.. it can break joints and break limbs. people underestimate aikido because they see it as a lousy demo on youtube but in fact, it can paralyze you or even send you to comaland.. it doesnt have the power of a muay thai fighter or even the tactics of a jiu jitsu fighter but it has deadly grace in every movement

  • its true - a good aikidoka can easily cripple an opponent and aikido masters have far better knowlege on joint manipulation than anyone from other martial arts - i myself do aikido and karate, karate for power , aikido for control

  • i would like to add that aikido can be easily amped up into a very effective defense art...when you practice you dont want to break your partners joints thats why you practice ukemi...there are many exercises that you should practice nothing in aikido is useless the exercises that you do are included in aikido techniques...Daito ryu jujutsu (Aikido) hasnt been around for so long for know reason...you cant learn technique w/o understanding the basic movements thats why Aiki Taiso is necessary

  • man thats hard to master.

  • i love using aikido takedowns in Brazilian JiuJitsu people dont expect it haha

  • that ukenagashi is a perfect set-up for kotegaeshi ^_^

  • my dojo also follows reynosa sensei and uke nagashi is one of the 3 basic and a very powerfull deflection method for punches and grabs .

just a note for nage though , keep your arm more vertical and it'll work even better

one of the best aikido vids on youtube imo !

  • I don´t really see an attack here. This walking-forward-and-pushing-with both hands can simply be deflected by stepping aside.

Is this by any chance related to Seidokan Aikido? Because that is the only style where I have seen this kind of practise before. (I think they call it "push randori".)

  • It could be anything from an attempt at a front choke or just a light shove (Like what usually starts a lot of ugly fights)

  • BTW, these Aikido video snipits really have good insight. Thanks for posting them!

  • Beautyful!

  • nice, i have never seen that explained before.

  • great vid! i think most people don't see the value of Aiki cause demos are all about some guy stepping in with that big wopping overhand right. right? the idea is that it's not effective cause most fights start in a standing position, but Aiki by def uses motion against an attacker. infact boxers will advance, strike, and astablish another standing pos to trade more strikes. i don't advocate streetfighting but if i am in a fight it's cause someone is attacking me! that's why it works4me

  • The persons who train this ridiculous circus sport and really believe they consequently will be able to defend themselves are fools.

  • ABSOLUTELY.

I feel bad for the women that train under this bald guy, thinking this will help them in rape prevention of what have you. God help any woman who uses this crap in such a situation.

  • Wow. You judge my budo from a 2 minute BASIC deflection lesson? And then go on to compare it to something you've never seen me do, ie women's self-defense??? Amazing. You have NO idea of what or how I teach. God help you find a life.

  • It's obvious that you have a chip on your shoulder. Train more and then you won't have to criticize other martial artists. Every martial art has something to offer and if you understand the principles you won't be so concerned about the techniques. Keep on with your journey and hopefully you won't be so condescending.

  • Actually, the person who watches a 2 minute video on the internet, sits in his comfy home and pronounces judgement on an entire system of martial arts all without ever stepping on the mat with a sincere aikidoka...well, he is the fool. Good luck.

  • Here again, you comment and make yourself look like an egotistical know-it-all. First, by lowering yourself by using insults a 10 year old would cringe at. "Baldy" wow I've never heard that one before. Second, by ASSUMING that I've never trained any other art besides aikido. Now, I'll admit that much of the aikido out there is NOT based on practical methods. Mine is. I've trained and fought with all of the styles you've mentioned, and then some. Train with me b4 you discard my "art."

  • For someone with such a wide-variety of videos you have saved as favorites, it surprises me that you are so quick to dismiss something. I went through your videos & noticed you have a lot of bjj, aikido, tactics, etc videos. You even have a few of mine saved. Yet you come in with this negative, flaming attitude. In order for me to get my aikido where it is, I had to trade punches with boxers, muay thai, etc. I found out quickly what didn't work...and what did. It's all in how you train.

  • I'm so glad you know how aikido was created and what it was created for. I'm sure the founder of aikido is glad he consulted you before considering how to choose his path. You sir, are a complete moron. Unfortunately there are many, many others like you. Thankfully, there are a few who actually like to train for real rather than bash stuff they spend hours surfing the net for. Congratulations on winning the idiot of the week award. Goodbye.

  • jiu jitsu is only for tv shows with pervert people who likes violence, jiu jitsu is totally stupid and has no defence because your head and your face gets beat up all the time, is extremely stupid, just why don´t you film a fight between you and an aikidoka black belt.If you dare.

  • Step on the mat, buddy. That's all I have to say.. you'll be changed in an instant. I promise you.

  • I am sorry if I insulted you by criticising this sport man... I have a brown belt and I really don't believe the usefullness of Aikido. Great training nevertheless, and very fun to practice.

  • What martial art do you train in? I've done Kung Fu, Judo, and Aikido. I've seen the use in all of them. Just curious what you do?

  • Muay Thai nowadays, it's the most realistic sport I deem.

  • Well, I can't speak to that art, but honestly, I can say that all three that I mentioned are effect. As a matter of fact, they are dangerous and deadly. You need to try a system before you dismiss it, as with most things in life.

  • That's cool.. but it is highly effective, trained by many law enforcement/military agencies alike. But do what works for you.. Muay Thai wouldn't work for everybody, because if your attacker is bigger/stronger/faster, etc etc then you'll be in trouble. Standing there kickboxing with a monster human being is a bad idea in my eyes. It all depends on how you train it man.. my sensei would make you a believer man, I promise that. But it's cool, no offense taken, because I know how useful it can be.

  • Lol i think aikido can kick you ass no fence that's just me

  • Lol ok. I think not, that's just me :=)

  • I think it'd be better if it was mixed with muay thai. Cause there's a lot of transfer of energy in aikido that results in them using there own energy to take themself out. And muay thai adds the power to beat some ass. haha.

  • that's why i luv aikido. a true aikidōka will not take up or engage in a challenge. unlike most other martial arts, success in aikido is not measured by constant competition which can most often lead to an unhealthy learning environment. it's more like a 'philosophy with a martial art' rather than the other way round. but these are also the reasons you will never see a pure aikidōka in MMA for example

  • If trained properly and in a realistic format, Aikido would be utterly useless in MMA because it is designed to elude, but if necesscary to injury severely. Aikido is incredible if one trains it properly.
