Miss AZ did a horrible job because she never came close to answering the question. Miss UT had an acceptable response to her question. Miss CA had a valid response, whether you agree with it or not, but she did not word her response well. Miss KY did not fully answer her question about what she would say.
Remember that the point of these questions is for the Miss USA candidates to show that they are knowledgeable about current events and issues and are able to speak their opinions about them. Especially since these questions can be controversial, what matters more than what they say is how they say it. It would help if they back up what they say with a reason, but they need to at least answer the questions well.
Why is it that all of the judges asked important questions about our struggling economy, about violence in relationships, and what our taxes should go to. ...and then Perez Hilton gets to ask "what do you think about Gay marriage?" ...if you ask me, that's an unfair question. That's like asking someone if they believe in abortion. It puts the contestant in a tough position, and they have to pray that the judges dont make a biased decision based on that.

This is the problem. You are saying she has a good answer because you agree with her opinion. I am saying her answer was bad, because she provided an opinion, without an argument to back it up. If she would have said, "I believe gay marriage should not be condoned by the states because it infringes on the moral principles the country was founded on", it would have been better than saying, "I was raised to believe..."
