  • One hit wonder vs best selling rap artist of all time who is known for his lyrical wordplay and controversial lyrics.

  • Just wondering though... if Eminem was as confident in his abilities to still be relevant today

... would he "back in the day" allowed the Borat guy to plop his naked butt literally in his face - as he willingly did at the recent MTV Music Awards?

I think the Eminem of before would have never done such

    an admitted PR stunt.

Today ? - He has a CD to promote that basically rehashes many of his old and recurring demons.

Relevant ? Who knows ? - Selling out with "Borat" ?

    ... absolutely.

  • Hell yeah! That freestyle at the end was priceless. Forget the haters. Ice still rules!

  • Eminem is better but i still respect Vanilla, hes an awesome rapper.

  • please xplain to me how eminem is better? whats the difference between beating your girlfriwend and killing her and stealing a beat and making your own rap? eminem and vanilla ice are equal! only, eminems dont belong in vanilla ice cream! if eminems name was rainbow sprinkles, then him and ice would go good together and they would rule the music industry......like fags, tho, vanilla ice is the shit!

  • Ice did his thing, no doubt but all in all Em is just all around better. Flow, Lyrics, and all around style, em wins. One of the reasons I think Em is better is he made rapping about your drug addicted mother, whore of a wife and eating pills a reality to people who didnt know. Ice was still in the shooting guns and running through the hood stage of rap. But either way, if they had a freestyle battle I think we all know who the victor would be.

  • Yo, Vanilla Ice is all good homie. He influenced me alot, especially more than that faggot feminem did when i was 10. Vanilla Ice is Underground Rap now. He's signed to a Indie Label. Underground Rap is way better than that mainstream garbage like feminem.

  • eminem is too good to be underground

  • straight up

  • the song at the end... DUNN NATT .... aswome song!

  • uhh no, eminem was rapping on the streets until dr. dre heard of him by a friend then signed him.- and wats up wit this dude (vanilla ice) he went to box i forget was it a 60 yr. old man? idk ,but he got his ass beat...... sad.....

  • It was Todd Bridges from Diff'rent Strokes

  • How i look at it is ... Back in those days it was the white people buying most of the black people's hip hop cd's which made them turn against Vanilla ice cause no one was buying black music no more.

  • Total. Reinvention. Is it the real Mr. Van Winkle this time? We'll never know.

  • RA the rugged man gets props vanilla bitch does not!!!!

  • Hell yea RA is the man

  • what i dont get is rap never started out as a colour thing - it was a poverty thing, a cry for help from people who wanted their message heard or a way to resolve differences instead of resorting to violence. Check out the Juice Crew wars for example. To me if your good your good if your shit your shit simple as.

  • eminem is the best ever

  • there wouldn't have been Eminem if it wasn't for Vanilla Ice. If Rob didn't come out and set the foundations in 1989, then Eminem would never have been accepted in rap/hiphop scene. Simple.

Vanilla Ice is a pioneer... Eminem is a follower.

  • without Vanilla Ice, Eminem wouldn't have been accepted by the rap/hiphop scene. Period.

Rob van Winkle is the leading pioneer... Eminem is a follower and always will be.

  • beastie boys where first man so it started earlier than vanilla

  • What people need to remember really is Ice was a commerical artist. In previous interviews he's said that they were looking for that Pop/Rap shit. And that's what Ice Ice Baby was. If you go back to Em's shit in '94 he had a similar style because everyone was rappin' like that. The only difference between Ice and The Beastie Boys is they were respected as "underground" and "real hiphop". As soon as Ice signed his career over and went Pop that was it. Which is still what a lot of artists do today

  • But Ice Ice Baby was on Ice's original indie album and was the B-side to "Play That Funky Music", also later on his pop album, which he put out when his audience was mostly black Southerners. Nobody intended for that record to take off as a single and it just spread like a virus.

  • all u guys have no respect.

Vanilla Ice is still singing, he does Nu Metal and rapcore music now,but he also does some Rapping. if u want proff he is still ok listen to the album Hard too Swallow. It is a Nu Metal album. Just try listening. listen to the song "stompin through the boyou"

  • lets not be so hard on vanilla, he was the best back then.. so let him live..

he is still the best white rapper ever,

  • Eminem?

    Paul Wall?

    That's just two...

  • Eminem, sure.

    Beastie Boys, sure.

Paul Wall? Are you smoking rock?

  • eh... how about eminem? vinnie paz? awesome

  • I remember seeing fallen one hit wonder Vanilla Ice on TV a couple of years back - I wonder if he is still an arrogant little prick?

  • how many times he said "you know"? hahha!

  • The White Soulja boy

  • im a survivor rofl i ALMOST feel sorry for the guy ,,but i guess 99% wouldve ended up dead in a crack house after beeing chewed and spuewd out and beaten and humiliated like this guy

  • what a liar...16 years old...this dude was like 22 when that came out.

  • 19 when he signed the contract. Maybe 16 when he first wrote it?

  • he didnt write Earthquake did. part of his crew.

  • he said he was 16 when he did ice ice baby but he was born 1967 so that can't add up?

  • hes the best

  • "im a survivor" is three words...

  • all u complainers out there would have done the same thing for a mill and a half..who's being a hypocrite now? ice is hot, hot, baby.

  • Eminem would put out the fire of vanilla ice and mc hammer!

  • Be honest folks...this guy who's answering the questions...Rob...is truly being himself, and that's cool.

I could not STAND Vanilla Ice back in the day, and I wasn't jumpin' on the bandwagon either. I saw him for who he was...a weak sellout who, if he would've just been himself, he probably would've done just fine and would've kept his credibility.

It's refreshing to see him now where he is simply being himself...and the true him actually has quite a bit of talent...but REAL nevertheless...

  • Well, I'm glad he survived.

  • Vanilla ice opened the door for Eminem to move in on the hip hop scene

  • There's no comparison between Eminem and Vanilla Ice. MC Hammer was better than Vanilla Ice.

  • He kind of looks like Ken Shamrock from the UFC

  • "eminem had ME!! so he knew what to do and what not to do"...well he defitnly taught slim what NOT to do lol.

and for those of you who were expecting him to be a little "wigger" he probably just now learned to grab the concept that he's white

  • What do u mean problem with Vanilla Ice and Eminem? No, everybody from Flava Flave to T.I admires Em and his amazing lyrics. Em is one of the greatest. Vanilla Ice is a one hit bum sell out wannabe. Worst rapper ever. Nothing to do with being white. He's fucking terrible.

  • Worst rapper ever? Ahem. Benzino.

  • Vanilla Ice is way better nowadays with the bi-polar album. he was a sell-out back then but its not all black and white.

  • hells ya and o live the hachet man on his neck

  • i really think of him differently, ive been lookin at some of his interviews of the past and hes not just some wigger

  • ROB VAN WINKLE .HEHEHE

  • rawlf!!!!!!!! VAN WINKLE

  • I had the pleasure of meeting him when he was in Australia 2007. A real decent down to earth guy who admires and respects his fans. I have nothing bad to say about him.

    Say "Fire it up"

  • Come on, we all know the rap industry's problem with Vanilla and Eminem. They're successful rappers and they're white. Deal with it...

  • Oh and don't forget, there both very talented people. With hot selling movies, an more!

  • No. The problem with Vanilla is he was a poser. He was the embodiment of "wigger." Em is from the hood, and he's a lyrical beast. Hip Hop don't have a problem with Em. Take the applause he got when he came out for the "Touch It" performance.

  • I was expecting him to be acting like a little wigga but he actually seems quite smart

  • i know. what happened?

  • The guy carries himself well these days. Good for him. It's too bad his reputation was so badly tarnished because he seems like a good guy who got jerked around by the music industry.

  • he still got it

  • He actually mature...

  • amazing rapper.

  • yeah right

  • he's much more likeable now as himself.

  • lol @ 0:24

    "rappin to ridin"

  • Rob wasn't 16 when that song came out, he was 23 because he was born in 67! Maybe he's talking about when he wrote the song. Anyway that's good that he's finally being himself.

  • hes in his 40s? Damn..Time flys

  • I don't know if this interview was "directed" but it makes it look like Rob still has it crackin' real cool.

  • he grew up and he discovered himself. You're not at that point at 16 ;)

  • The Only reason why Mc Hammer went broke is because so many people sued him and I'm glad Vanilla Ice is being himself now

  • ...and it's time to take out another class clown...

    Oh what a pity though

Cuz ya had to spend three million dollars on your video

It was video and I can admit that,

All that money's wasted cuz your songs wacked

I make stuff to make the people gather

An' let 'em see us in a pit

I wanna slam dance with ya, Hammer

Now can I kick it, of course I can

you will get burned out, then turned out

  • he's a cool guy I'm glad he's doing good in present time and not all broke like MC Hammer

  • cool guy yep id do the same thing he did bac then.take the cheeder

  • He rocks man...whatever man..if yall got offered a million 5 to change yourselves you know u would

  • he seems so level headed now. and his music isn't all that bad.

  • He seems like such a nice guy! Who knew?

  • He seems like a cool guy.I know that I did some stupid shit at sixteen.I can't even imagine being known for it.
