I would like to view this as a complement to Cloverfield. It's still a "video camera gimmick" movie, albeit the monster itself is ridiculous in design and effects. In fact, it looks dreadfully fake the first time I saw this on Youtube. Youtube's poor quality video usually hides flaws which could be seen in higher definition, but the fact that even in a poor quality video that you could see how bad it looks, is how bad it is.

It could have been good if they made the monster ambigious.
