  • when are people going start to realize its the DOCTORS who are pushing this very unsafe drug,my nephews life is ruined due to his mum constantly giving him this shit,he is now like a zombie after 18 yrs.what would you rather have...a child who is full of energy and who is slightly annoying due to there hyperactivity or a brain dead zombie..the choice is yours...(if your not an unfortunate child who has no say in your phycological demise).

i write this almost shaking with anger !.

  • looks like you take too much fuckin stimulant to doing such intense self centred drug tasks. god next ul be counting Ants. then posting the results.

  • @Nevawake

not really. it just seems like someone with a medical interest documenting the effects of her legally prescribed medication for the education of others. The video is really interesting, much more so than ant counting :P

  • I take 108mg of concerta about 5:00am. it makes me feel a little funny, but I can concentrate for hours on in while at school. however, I have to take 300mg of trazodone to go to bed at night. I do not;however, take concert a on exam days... it sloqs me down way too much for timed test.

  • @LearningToCode I take 90mg concerta and it helps me in general. Without it I would be a total zombie if I have to work, do any school (which I'm glad is over now) or anything else needing concentration. Even with 90mg concerta I can still sleep in the middle of the day (and night). So consider if your dosage is too high - not saying it is but I would consider it if I had problems sleeping.

  • My heart rate was 180bpm, I was so scared.

35mg instant release, never again, too much!!

  • hey is it possible that the side effects of ritaline are caused mostly by the lack of sugar? because hypoglucemia has some of the same side effects as riraline.

  • oh please give me yor ritalin

  • aint no praying that can make you good at math

  • how easy is it to get addicted to ritalin?

  • @paenitet7nullum

That is a very hard to answer question. It works in a manner similar to cocaine, and as such has moderate addictive potential. I suggest that if you're going to abuse it, don't use it more than every month or so.

Using it often in an abused (or even prescribed manner) is unhealthy to the heart and potentially damaging to the mind

  • @paenitet7nullum very easy these pills are amphetamines they are highly toxic and dangerous not to be messed with

  • lol u took the test without ritalin n then took the same test with it. lol nice

  • @bionerd23 ur brave to do what u do. thanks for sharing ur research with us also. i was told i would be slowly taken off provigil (stoped working, to keep me awake during daytime) and every week a little more methlphenidate dose would be added. i was started today at 20mg methlphenidate and continue provigil for this week. what is the highest dose u would take? i'm concerned toword next week now.

  • @upwordbound I think the "legal" limit is 60 or 70 mg of methylphenidate

  • A comment to the uploader: Do not use Ritalin or any other drugs like that. The doctor knows you're NOT hyperactive, or lacking attention.

    So you have:

    Hyperattentive hypoactivity.

  • The bible is as much propaganda that persuades fools with lies and hopes of a better easier faster way to relief like the big guys in the government have persuaded fools to sell their own childs mind to a pharmaceutical pimp ring in hopes of an better easier faster way to relief.

  • thier is way that i use to control the adhd that i have which are working out, playing paintball and doing MMA( like UFC style of training at the mma gym here in town try these tips frist before taking any drugs for adhd

  • Well I started taking rittalin and three days later my whole body went numb and the parametics came to my house and took a look a my heart beat and it was going at 196 beats per minute which means I almost died from a near heart attack and I'm only 14 I was tramatised after that and got into a deep depression but thank god I survived that

  • Hello im 17 i just started takeing Adderal it helps alot. Im getting so much more work done i feal like my life is getting better. Adderal makes me happier to. So glad i got this. im goin for all As! WOOO!

  • givining these pills to children is total child abuse it needs to be stopped now add and adhd are a load of crap

  • @dihle12

    hey, FUCK YOU COCK SUCKER!!!

  • @c0ncerta fuck you and your fake bullshit disorders

  • @dihle12

its not fake and even if it was i coult give a fuck, because im on the pigs back,

    concerta ftw =D

  • @c0ncerta add and adhd are fake load of crap just like you

  • @dihle12

    ikr :D

  • @bionerd23

i attempted suicide coming off of ritalin... or rather, i cut my arm clean open with a bread knife because i felt confused and emotionally helpless. i had an eight hour surgery to repair 11 out of 12 tendons, 2 major vessels/arteries, and 2 nerves. i wish i had better managed irritable ADHD symptoms without medication. the medication depressed me and resulted in a far greater disability. at 24 years of age i consider myself an adult.

  • @betterthingsss You may want to order this book I just heard about called Healing the Damaged Brain by Dr. Harold Urshel. He tells about how the brain needs to be healed and some psychological issues may contribute to the problem. There is also a great study done by Dr Kim Yong at the NIDA that found Ritalin or Methylphenidate (chemical name) is worse than cocaine on the way it affects the brain.

  • My 22 yr old son died from his addiction to Ritalin or Methylphenadate. Addiction is not a choice in all cases. We parents give the drugs to our children because a teacher and a psychiatrist has told you it will help. These doctors never warned us of the dangers, they just icreased the dosage. My son was a straight A student in college when his world fell apart and he could not control the damage of this highly addictive drug.He asked me why God gave him this curse, and why we gave him the drug.

  • @pwg1126

sorry to hear that, and yes, as for young children, i also agree with the statement; i'd be very, very, VERY careful to give any drugs (no matter if they're antidepressants, painkillers, or ritalin) to my children. after all, if YOU as a parent set your mind on the drug and that your kid has to take it, there's nothing he or she can do against it. also, effects on the *developing* brain are unpredictable.

for adults, however, i think every person has to make their own choices...

  • @bionerd23 i attempted suicide coming off of a ritalin binge... or rather, i sliced my arm clean open with a bread knife. luckily, my boyfriend was standing in front of me. i had an eight hour surgery to repair 11 of 12 tendons, 2 blood vessels, and 2 major nerves in my arm. i can tell you that a life with irritable adhd symptoms and no medication is more managable than one with depression and disability. i used to be a server and CNA. i am currently unemployed and reshaping my life at age 24

  • @betterthingsss

ritalin BINGE? well, if you abuse it, it's dangerous, same as speed or whatever, sure. apart from that - with therapeutic doses - everybody reacts differently to a drug, i guess. like, i never lose my appetite, even though that seems to be occurring in most people who take ritalin.

  • @bionerd23

i agree. small doses once did wonders for me. large doses never did anything good. i can no longer take it, because i couldnt stop taking to much. maybe i thought taking more of something that helped me would enable unrealistic perfection. as for appetite (if you one day lose it), i recommend mind over body: make yourself eat. your body still neeeds the nourishment it isn't asking for. the glucose part scared me a little... is ritalin a very complex sugar? comment on diabetes?

  • @bionerd23 yea but you only took 10 mg, I for example are on 40mg.

  • @bionerd23 Actually only 1-10% loose appetite according to the patient information leaflet I got here in Denmark. In my case I even got the energy to now do something about my hunger if I'm hungry and there's nothing easy to take in the fridge. I also generally walk more now so I guess that keeps my weight stable.

  • Comment removed

  • @bionerd23 No, the teachers complain about some aspect of your child, the psychiatrist confirms her observation and recommends Ritalin. The doctors never have time to really care. They don't ask you much, but are you eating well, sleeping well, okay here is you prescription for your pills. They didn't warn us that this was a schedule 2 highly addictive drug, or that if family has bipolar do not take this drug. Now I find out it actually damages the brain, and good decisions cannot be made.

  • @pwg1126 Why'd you keep increasing the dosage? Was it not working? You really gotta be careful with those ADHD meds. I choose not to take them because of all the dangerous side effects. I know it might seem like a good idea at first, but they do effect you overtime, in very bad ways. I'm really sorry for your loss.

  • @pwg1126 - did you tell his doctor about this?

There are other drugs that may be less addictive (some are supposed to be nonaddictive), and not necessarily everyone with ADHD needs drugs. Hindsight is 20/20 but certainly in this case the benefits did not outweigh the downsides.

Drug and alcohol addiction is actually relatively common in people with ADHD. Your doctor should be aware of this and prepared to try something else if you find you are tempted to take more than prescribed.

  • @pwg1126

    who gives a fuck.

    god is not real

    life is not real

Ritalin is the only god !

  • @BoardsOfCanadaMusic9 Yeah, try to convince yourself of that. Look at the sun, it's a star that is a constant nuclear reaction that can go on for billions of years and it just happens to be the perfect distance away from earth, so we dodn't overheat. Why dosen't Roman history disprove the claim of Christ existing, dying and coming back to life with hundreds of witnesses. They chose to kill millions of Christians instead thinking God would never punish them. God is your father.

  • @pwg1126 stop spreading your evil lies jesus didnt die the first time he was still alive you must be brainwashed to believe that jesus was god there are so many quotes from the bible i can give you that proof this and if someone of you realy beliefes in god than please dont worship a sandnigga called jesus that got slowly killed by jews and brought nothing new but hindu shit

  • @ichhatte28zentimeter You are so confused, but I guess you have heard don't throw pearls to swine. God/Jesus doesn't need you, you need him and there is no cost. All you have to do is call out to him. Someone has already brainwashed you like your parents. God still loves you.

  • @pwg1126

This comment is a FAKE. There are almost identical comments about Adderall and Dexedrine. The one difference is about the word "Ritalin" is substituted with "Adderall".

  • @pwg1126 haha your a fucking dumbass parent

  • @cccsc805 its no laughing matter, dont be so immature, its very sad that their son died. matters like this should be dealt with seriously. and just so you know that its not certain that every drug gives similar effects on different people, everyone has different tolerance levels to different things so while something may be good for someone it can have a negative effect on someone else, plus they were forced into it. im not going to jude on what they could or could not have done, -

  • @gtaunited continued- the fact is that their son died and there is nothing they do can do about it. they are informing others of the possible dangers so that they might make a better decision. they are trying to help, and you calling them "dumbass" shows how mature you are.

  • I'm sorry to hear that my parents were fooled to believe ritalin is the way to go instead of a ass whoopin!

  • @pwg1126 my friend gets stright B's because of that ( cheating in my cases ) adhd. lucky, but i think he might be addicted to it. if your kid likes their medicin i think its bad

  • @pwg1126

    LIAR !!!!

  • @c0ncerta You seem like a bullet proof young person that doesn't want to hear that there are things that can take you out of this life early. We have free will and look what we choose to do. It is like we think drugs are going to cure everything. What is wrong with being a C or D student and being in control of your brain.

  • @pwg0070

no your just jellous because people wtih ADHD are able to take stimlaunt drugs.

  • hey i was wondering i have been taking strattera for 3 years for my focusing problem, when i was young the doctor said i had a heart murmur, but now for the past 5 monthes i have been having PVC, this is what the doctor said. should i stop taking strattera what should i do?

  • @ruelmeeks88

dont randomly stop medication you've been prescribed. ask the doctor about it; it may have a whole different reason. get an ecg done, maybe a 24-hours logging one. or, AFTER TALKING TO YOUR DOCTOR, try out if quitting the drug for a week or more makes you feel better.

  • @ruelmeeks88 i would have never started taking strattera (Atomoxetine) mainly because of the extra added side effects like (sexual problems, decreased libido, Urinary retention). which Dextroamphetamine and Methylphenidate dont have. The total opposite in Dex (increased libido). thats just what ive been told (GP), researched (wikipedia, and ADHD/ADD support sites) are my sources. Dexedrine (Dextroamphetamine) in my case.

  • @bionerd23 danke ...

  • 37.8 degrees C (100.0 degrees F) is a fever. Possibly a side effect from ritalin.

  • @Tuber274

in medical terms, it's just "elevated temperature", or "subfebrile temperature", not fever. it's likely due to thyroid hormones in my case, though, i've had that since years.

  • I tried the same thing with SAT practice test scores and Coke. The results, however, were too biased to really say anything because the tests weren't all the same difficulty.

  • ... i don't need all that. all i need is the rittilan something flat a lighter works (because i always have one) and a small tube like a straw if i cut it a bit

  • I'd totally date this chick. She's all the nerd a man could ask for :D

  • i take that

  • 120 bpm just by standing up?! holy shit :S

  • Be very careful when experimenting with prescription medications.

The effects are not always known.

  • @azor322

i'm taking the prescribed dose by my doctor (which is actually a range he prescribed), so i'm not really experimenting that much. :)

  • ritalin is horrible. i was given it as a child for add and i wish i could reverse time. its a horrible experience.... it takes your personality away, it pretty much robs you from being friendly, interesting, able to have a conversation.

i also believe it leads to DRUG abuse. isnt it in the same family of drugs as METH!

who gives meth to a child. its pathetic

  • @TheZigZagg

yeah, it's a stimulant, same as meth-amphetamine or just normal ampetamine ("speed") or cocaine. however, it's most similar to cocaine, actually, not to meth.

also, there are a few drugs that CAN (but dont have to) lead to some insane side-effects... did you know that about five times the normal dose of a tricyclic antidepressant is FATAL, it KILLS you? that's just five pills instead of one, you got that right... SSRIs are known to make people suicidal or homicidal... etc.

  • @bionerd23

so you have done speed meth and coke then?

if not how can you be sure, it is an amphetamine well adderall is im pretty sure.

and when it was first made it killed some kids with heart problems and it was taken off the market.

but what im getting at is how many kids are told to take this shit by doctors, is that fare, its not a choice the kids make its the parents. your an adult and you made the choice to take, i didnt and i thnk thats pretty unfair but theres nothing i can do...

  • @TheZigZagg

no, i dont do street drugs, there's too much random crap in them, it's way too dangerous. however, if you know basic chemistry, you just need to look at the molecules to be able to tell their chemical differences to something - there's no need to ingest the substances to know what they do.

  • @TheZigZagg

    @TheZigZagg

i do agree, however, that it's bad to put children on stuff they have no choice not to take - however, i just wanted to mention than antidepressants are just as fucked up as ritalin for that matter. it's not like amphetamine = bad and antidepressant = good. both of those are potent and potentially dangerous substances.

  • hey!what's your job? i think you is very professional!!!

  • @mjaikb2003

    nope, i'm not a professional, sadly. :)

  • I have nothing bad to say about adderall or ritalin they both help you out dramatically its when people abuse it when a good thing turns out to be a negative...

  • Interesting, really useful info!

    Cheers from Sweden

  • Thank you for the INFO!

  • I took Concerta for three weeks, and I had a side effect, I would wake up in the middle night, sometimes I would write stories, but I progressively became more and more paranoid and schizophrenic. I stopped taking the medication after I woke up one night and was convinced that my neighbors were trying too steal our cable. I made this conclusion after watching them try to fix their powerline. I never did anything because knew I was probably just crazy but I felt as though I was right.

  • You mentioned a side effect that it "would feel not right when you talk" (in your other video) I had that same effect when I took Stratera - a dopamine based treatment for ADHD. I felt as though I just wasn't motivated to talk I can't really explain it very well though. I would also fall asleep and when I woke up I had the feeling that the day before was just part of a dream - it felt like kind of a surreal experience.

  • yeah, i get that on amphetamine, too - however, i did not experience these effects on ritalin. it's just that when i start to talk to somebody, the effect starts to feel "wrong" all of a sudden, like it's something that isnt supposed to be there. i just noticed this somewhat goes away with prolonged talking, though... oh well, i'll give it a few weeks before i decide to quit it or not.

  • @Wcoltd

    strattera increases norepinephrine, not dopamine.

  • @chao129 figures - my doctor is a quack.

  • That video explains lots of things my doctor never told me or worse yet, could be completely unaware of. Ritalin suppresses appetite and lowers blood sugar. The reason I felt so terrible when taking it could be due to hypoglycemia. I had no appetite for lunch, but naturally gravitated towards eating candy bars. In my case ADHD was probably a misdiagnosis, but at the time diagnosing depression/GAD in teens/children was taboo in the USA. Thus any problems are called ADHD for a quick fix.

  • hmm, that sounds bad, especially as with depression, it's often a lack of serotonine that's causing it, so ritalin wont even really help against depression... but yeah, knowledge is power, as always.

  • That was quite an interesting video.

You should do one on the effects of caffeine

  • I get this quite frequently, several times a minute, and it usually goes away if my heart rate becomes faster. I also feel it if I check my pulse on my neck or arm, there's an intermittent weak pulse, or a skipped pulse.

  • I've never had confirmed PVC's, I've had plenty of PAC's picked up on ecg's and holter monitors, so the doctors allways tell me not to worry since those are benign. Sometimes, however, when I'm lying down at night I can feel my pulse in my fingers, and occasionally it skips, there is a pulse missing, or there is a weaker premature pulse, I don't feel anything other than the missed pulse, I'm guessing they're PVC's.

  • yeah, that's typical for an "extrasystole" of some sort. when a PAC triggers an "out of the line" ventricular contraction, the next sinus impulse will likely hit a refractory myocardium, which will lead to it being "skipped". also, a PVC itself will feel like a skipped / weak beat, as it isnt very effective for pumping blood.

the faster the sinus rhythm, the less "chance" for an ectopic pacemaker to actually "fire", so it's normal to have less PACs and PVCs when having a fast heart rate, too.

  • do you know why my ecg would show mild right ventricular hypertrophy 3 times in a row in one month and my echocardiogram came back perfectly normal? do ecg's give false positives like this all the time, or was my normal echo a false negative???

  • yeah, automated EKG interpretations can often be wrong... especially when they interpret extrasystoles as e.g. bundle branch block, hypertrophy, or an S-T segment depression. i wouldnt worry about it too much, as long as your echo is okay and the doctor says you're okay, too.

  • how do you deal with the premature ventricular extrasystoles? whenever I feel them I think I'm gonna die, I actually felt suicidal before I saw a cardiologist who reassured me, but living with them is utter hell even knowing they're mostly harmless...

also, what accent do you have? if you don't mind me asking, sorry I know it's unrelated to your video

  • how i "deal" with them? i dont know, i just live with them, they dont bother me much anymore now i've studied them so thoroughly. "nothing in life is to be feared - it is only to be understood", as marie curie said.

if they're really bothering you that much, you could try various supplements like magnesium / calcium / potassium, if you have a lack of these; some people also say fish oil, garlic or whitethorn helps them.

if that doesnt help, you could try a low-dose beta blocker.

  • ...and my accent is, well, german, i guess. :P

    german's my native language, anyway.

i'm pretty glad you didnt know this immediately, so i'll take your question as a compliment, hehe.

  • ritalin is made in switzerland the company is called NOVARTIS it is used for concentration problems i take it and it makes me nervous and you loose appetite ive seen so many people arround the world buying this thing in a drugstore after doctor appointment from old to young it is mainly used for hyperactive kids

  • yup, a lot of "normal" people use it as "brain doping" nowadays.

i've never had appetite loss from ritalin; also, it makes me calmer, not nervous. i can even sleep on it.

  • here is the evidence. If you take ritalin, you can be a dr. - I need this thing!!! anyone know where I can buy ritalin?

Bionerd, are you from Germany? your english is awesome!

  • lol, nah - you can in theory maybe boost your IQ using ritalin - because you can think more concentrated and thus, solve questions faster - but to be a doctor, you need KNOWLEDGE as well as intelligence and understanding. :P

anyway, you can get ritalin on prescription by doctors. i dont know if it has "hit the streets" as a drug yet, and i wouldnt recommend buying that, either. i would not recommend taking it without advise of a doctor at all, as it can have pretty bad side-effects.

  • by the way, i am from germany, yep. born and raised here... but ritalin helped me boost my english!

just kidding. i know english because i had internet access since i was a kid, that's all. =)

  • thank you this is gonna help me alot:D:D thx thx thx thx

  • this is awesome great video

  • Really good video. Impressive test and genuinely interesting result..

  • lol soo you have a alienware aswell....

  • Good video. There are few young people interesting science today/now.

I very bad speaking in English. Sorry.

  • thank you. :-)

but hey, i know quite a few young people who are interested in science...

  • In Russia such people very few.

But I - one of them)))

  • no ur wrong :) There are alot of ppl who are interested in science. Like me, i am a genetic and science is cool as hell :D

  • Всяко бывает))))

  • - :)

  • This is pretty neat! What got you into these hobbies (especially medicine and radioactivity, two of my biggest interests) in the first place? On a side note, I used to take Ritalin for ADHD when I was a child, but it didn't work for me, likely because I'm on the autistic spectrum (Asperger's Syndrome). Too bad Adderall isn't available in Germany. I've been on that for two years and it works well!

....I find you to be brilliant, if you don't mind my saying.

  • sorry for the delayed answer(s)! i was hardly at home in the past few days, but i will get back to your mail, too. :-)

i dont know; i was fascinated by medicine (the books my parents had) as a kid from the moment i could read; the nuclear physics obsession developed out of playing the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R., actually... i was like "oh wait, radioactivity is fucking awesome, let's obsess about it!" and discarded playing the game. :P

it's usually a small trigger that causes a hobby to form...

  • actually, one doctor diagnosed me with asperger's too. i think i got both adhd and asperger's... i will actually go to a specialized clinic and get it tested next month, as a doctor actually kicked me out of an fMRI ADHD study because she highly suspected i have asperger's (she works with autistic children)... and that's what caused me to make an appointment to check it out further / made me believe it's not just ADHD.

  • No worries! Glad to hear from you. :) All of my interests have developed the same way. :) Never played S.T.A.L.K.E.R. What platform? It sounds fun.

  • i think just x86 / win, but havent really looked into it... i dont use consoles except for an old super nintendo. =)

  • My nuclear obsession started first when I read the book "Hiroshima" when I was 7 years old, and then reappeared later last year, when on impulse, I bought a DVD set with over 13 hours of declassified nuclear test footage from the Nevada Test Site and Pacific Proving Grounds. :)

  • wow, that sounds lovely - got a piece of trinitite already? =)

they also have nuke lakes in the ukraine and russia; i wanna go swimming and fishing at such a lake one day.

  • Have you played Fallout 3 yet?

  • yup, loved it. =)

  • I know nothing about this subject, but these videos are facinating.

  • you should try the test before and after a caffeine tablet.

  • I agree about the glucose thing too .. not eating enough readily available sugar (fruit for example) while using ADHD stimulants makes the wear off or "come down / crash" come sooner and feel more uncomfortable ... I believe it's mostly glucose depletion.

  • Really cool video! I take Focalin (dexmethylphenidate) for ADHD, which is the dextrorotatory isomer of methylphenidate only -- 2x more potent as levomethylphenidate is essentially inactive as a DNRI, the dex isomer is responsible. 5 mg 2x a day so ritalin equiv would be 10 mg 2x day. I also take the beta blocker propranolol. The heart rhythm certainly looks smoother compared to mph only ... physically it reduces the side effects of the stimulant. Interesting stuff. The med helps me.

  • yeah, i heard of that drug... shame its not available in germany. the only stimulant class drugs we have for adhd in germany are RITALIN (and generics) plus pure D/L amphetamine in watery solution or powder, which is almost never prescribed due to the insane abuse factor that comes with it. we do not have ANY other ready made pills except ritalin. i hope this will change soon, because even though ritalin helps, i feel like im missing out on possibly better substances i'd like to give a try.

  • WHAT?! not prescribing a drug because of the abuse factor?! then what will high schoolers do for fun?

  • either buy it on the streets or bribe a corrupt doctor. :P

  • I've watched several of your videos, and i'm a certified pharmacy technician as well; do you really consider your diagnosis of ADHD as accurate?

  • i do, yeah. my school reports were rather typical and all, and so is my reaction to ritalin - it does not only improve memory and stuff (which it probably does on everybody), but it also makes me calmer / less impulsive, and i take 2.5mg to be able to sleep better - and i can still sleep like a baby even on 10 or even 20mg. i dont think that's what is supposed to happen on 'normal' people.

i dont know, what is YOUR opinion? you only know me from my videos, but still...

  • I don't know enough about you to offer an informed opinion ( that must be a YT first...!). I am just curious as to your own impressions on this subject; you seem to have a more scholarly inclination than most...

  • @ 3:45 How could you tell the extrasystole came from the apex? And how could you tell it had to do with the left ventricular outflow tract was this determined prior with echocardiogram?

  • this was determined with a special 12-lead long term ECG.

  • I enjoyed this video and would like to know where i could get more info on Ritalin and what affects it Has And What It Can Do To The Brain If You Are A Heart Patient What This Could Do To Your Brain If You Had Taken It As A Child From 1983-1988. Thank You Very Much

  • google knows all that. maybe start with wikipedia, too. you'll find in-dept information about that on the internet.

  • Thank You.

  • where do u get all this stuff from?

  • from my doctor, on prescription.

  • did you die for a few seconds? your ecg just stopped and cam eout with a bunch of lines

  • lol, i mentioned that the electrode fell off there...

  • lol sure sure blame it on an electrode just cause you diedXD

  • When I was on for about two years I became extremely smart in mathematics, but I lost my appetite. So for the majority of Elementary and Middle school I blitzed everything, then when I got off the stuff in high school I felt like I just forgot everything - that drug can screw ya up.

  • laying off it can screw you up even more than taking it, as it seems...

oh well, if you're already screwed up before taking it, then you've not got all that much to lose. ^_^

  • Hey, that's cruel! =p I had it beforehand, just not as much.

  • hand full of nuts.

    te hee

  • ty :)

  • Why is the active ingredient of many adhd meds illegal in the olympics?

I understand it is also not allowed for air force pilots. Why?

Is it increased performance in athletics and blurred vision for pilots? If not, what is it?

  • in olympics and sports, stimulants are considered doping, as they greatly increase your stamina; they e.g. widen the bronchial tubes so your body can take up oxygen much easier. this is why stimulants - as inhalers - are also used for people with asthma. asthma sprays are considered doping as well, thus. and i think that's good - because to keep up, everybody would have to do this kind of doping in sports, otherwise - that would be messed up in my opinion, and also, has dangerous side effects.

  • officially, stimulants are not allowed in air force pilots, as stimulants - especially if taken to suppress the sleep that the brain needs to function properly - can cause people to be angry, desoriented, yet overestimate their own capabilities up the point of hallucinations and psychosis. inofficially, such pills are used anyway, since a long time. they're called 'go pills' and contain dextroamphetamine. google for go pills, you will find various documentarys about the subject.

  • pilots went completely nuts on those pills and even murdered their own people - some really insane friendly fire has happened due to people being on the drug, thinking they're capable of anything, but actually being unable to judge a situation properly. why are go pills still used? well, because what pilots in the air force do simply goes beyond anything humanly possible.

  • you cannot keep up with the delicate task of flying a complex jet, doing air-to-air refueling and all for 20 hours or whatever, its not possible. yet, you HAVE to. amphetamines have been used in all wars, for example by the nazis, too, and it caused just as much crazy shit. only it's not that well documented... but you'll find enough on the 'net about it anyway. its really crazy.

  • wow verry nice can u do 1 for conserta that is what i take ... im adhd too and i did try ritalin but it waz no good

  • concerta has the same ingredient as ritalin, methylphenidate. the difference is that concerta has a prolonged-release formula, providing you with rather constant levels over 6+ hours, while on ritalin (non-retard methylphenidate), you have to take each dose at an exact time, or you're going on a rollercoaster - which can mess you up. i have to take it exactly every three hours. like this, the effects are same as if i'd take concerta. but i'll do another video if i get a prolonged-release mph.

  • Do you plan to test any other medications, especially so called "smart drugs" (of any kind)? Are they worth taking before exams?

Would the results vary i.e. when solving an IQ test (increasing the overall IQ number after taking those drugs)? If yes - how much?

  • which drugs are you referring to as 'smart drugs' (substance)?

i dont know if it's 'worth taking' apart for concentration yet. i think it may be. i took an official IQ test (short form) when i was diagnosed ADHD and only scored 115.

  • that isnt really good, and i guess it could've been due to my concentration being really bad. it was this 'do as much as possible in five mins' test, and i wasnt struggling with the single questions, but my time was simply up. i was too slow, lost focus, etc. - if i could be faster in the IQ test same as i can be faster in the concentration test - the outcome would likely be a significant improvement. but i'm only guessing here.

  • so, i think if you're struggling with answering the questions of an IQ test, ritalin wont improve your score, as it doesnt improve your iq. if you're losing focus, like, thinking about what you're gonna cook for dinner or see a bird flying outside... or simply fade away and have seconds of "i cannot think anything!", i think taking ritalin would likely improve your IQ test score as it would focus your attention on the IQ test, allowing you to solve more questions in the given time.

  • by the way, i am supposed to be retaking neuropsychological testing (including IQ) once i am on a proper amount of the right substance (possibly ritalin) - to see if the improvements are 'as intended' and the substance is working.

i will post the results in a video once i have them. :-)

  • I am referring to a big range of substances which are supposed to enhance cognition (such as L-Tyrosine which is claimed to enable to produce more neurotransmitters, L-Phenylalanine, ). I don't know much of them, and even less about them, I just heard that they suppose to work.

  • oh, those! yeah, i've tried l-tyrosine. had a headache and upset stomach and stuff from it, but felt no effect. tried 5-htp as well, had no effect at all. tried omega 3 fish oil acids stuff, didnt work at all, not even in combination with vitamines and all. that's all i've tried so far... i think....

  • who did you have to kill to get all that equipment?

  • lol, already answered to that here:

the ecg monitor is from ebay, for 100 euros, so maybe $140 or so. the ecg electrodes are from a medical supply store. the blood pressure device was prescribed by my doctor, as i have hypertension and need to check it at home (thus, was free on prescription). the blood glucose testing device was free because i took part in a testing trial when it was new. the concentration test i found on the internet, and the camera is from a local electronics store.

  • 100 euros equals $132.54

  • We're so glad you are back bionerd. I've never seen real concrete, objective evidence of the effects of ritalin before. this is fascinating and really, REALLY makes me want to try some. I don't think I have adhd, but I just want to try it to see its effects of focusing attention. there was an article in nature magazine last year (tinyurl 6aghfw ) about the use of ritalin among scientists to enhance performance and like 20% use it!

  • thanks a lot, i appreciate if people appreciate my videos. =)

well, im not suggesting illicit substance (ab)use, but one thing is a fact - while ritalin has stimulating abilities in people with no adhd (like, you get a bit hyper and active and all that), it calms people with adhd down (it does that to me, i can easily sleep on it - and on other substances of the amphetamine class).

    (cont)

  • BUT, it also has the ability to increase focus and concentration in BOTH people with and without adhd (as any stimulant in a low dose - same as a stimulants in a massive overdose will cause effects of overdose BOTH in people with and without ADHD (lack of concentration, hallucinations, hypertensive crisis, etc.)).

so much being said, everybody has to decide what they do and dont want to do to their body and mind. :-)

  • How do you find all this great equipment?

  • the ecg / intensive care monitor is from ebay, for 100 euros, so maybe $140 or so. the ecg electrodes are from a medical supply store. the blood pressure device was prescribed by my doctor, as i have hypertension and need to check it at home (thus, was free on prescription). the blood glucose testing device was free because i took part in a testing trial when it was new. the concentration test i found on the internet and err... the camera is from a local electronics store. hope that helps... ;-)

  • You should refer to the ECG as EKG. In medicine, the EEG and ECG can be confused in speech, and, we like to observe traditions. Your videos are great, nontheless. Have a great day!

  • oh, okay. good to have an american tell me that, thanks! we use EKG in german as well, but i really wasnt sure wether ECG or EKG was the correct term in english.
