One of, if not the greatest of "cowboy hymns". I would play Marty on radio, 8 track, cassettes, and now we do him on CDs. Whenever I hear this one, Streets of Laredo, The Hangin' Tree, Utah Carroll, or They're Hangin' Me Tonight.. It never fails to make me think of where I could have taken wrong turns in life. I was very wild and wasn't afraid of the "Old Scratch" but I thank God that he gave me enough brains to save me from doing all I thought about and bringing shame for me and my family.
I survived being hit by a semi on the freeway when I was 5 months pregnant. This song has been so powerful and personal to me since then. I was never wayward, but the miracle of being spared when by rights I should have died spoke to my soul in an incredible way. Thank you, Robbins!
I just finished reading Mart'ys biography and listened to over 500 songs. The Master's Call is one of the most Incredible Cowboy Ballads I ever heard. Pure talent and a man of great character and gifted. He gave us 42 years of various musical singer songwriter genre and have enjoyed it all. His heart gave up in 1982 at age 58 but his music lives on. Martys cowboy songs are as contemporary today as the day they were written.
This is absolutely superb. What an immense talent Marty Robbins was. Nice to see Marty sing one of his classic songs off of his legendary 'Gunfighter Ballads' album.
