  • Wow, you are the only other person ive talked to that's been there i went only twice, i moved allot army brat, didnt meet up with my elementary friends til jr high, i remember that bus ride i can still picture it till this day that was an exiting day wish i could remember more of it, we had to pack a lunch, i think it was Sacket or Kentucky elementary, lower west side, the school system was more than a place to be taught to read and wright fond memories.

  • I'll never ever forget this one! My mother walked me up to the bus stop on Madison Ave in Lakwood & took me to Halley's 7th floor to se him in the winter of 1956/57. It was wild! The attention to detail of his entire display still lives...if only in my memory. What a nice old man. I still have a soft spot in my heart for him. Can't help it. A real slice of Cleveland Americana!

  • Yea your right, we saw the last years of Americas age of innocence, we were taught to see the good in people even busyness's felt a responsibility to there customers they are or neighbors, we were no angels but there were lines that we didn't cross, today people act like they were born with all there knowledge and no one helped them get a thing, millions of very young people with nothing died on the premise that I would have done the same for them, i am grateful for there gift of faith, I owe.

  • omg...i was on one of his christmas shows way back in the day when i was a little girl...i still remember a little of his song....sighs...

  • @darkstar0000001 Thats to cool what a memory, i was on a pbs show about sex education in grade school it was filmed right at school i never saw it either lol.

  • @rayfromw65thst ..yeah, good memories..i was the one in that show who got to jingle the keys. i was so scared.. how cool for you too..thank you so much for the wonderful memories..i think we had the best of america..or at least in our part of it..ohio...back then...wouldnt trade it for anything...

  • Brings back so many old memories ;0) im 52

  • Okay, I admit to singing, Mr. Jingaling, he's a ding-a-ling, for the last 40 years, serves me right for moving away from Ohio. On the other hand, I never could remember the original lyrics.

  • I can't get this to play. darn. So I'll sing. "Mr. Jingeling, how you tingeling, keeper of the keys, on Halle's 7th floor, we'll be looking for you to turn the key. Keeping track, of Santa's pack and treasure house of toys.... windup things and things that ring... for all the special girls and boys! " I also remember Captain Penny coming on before or after this around 5pm. And Goulardi coming on with movies at night.

  • any chance on one of us "mature' people, coming up with the lyrics? I have them rambling around up there in my brain, but i just cant get them together.".Keeper of the keys, on Halles 7th floor, we'll be looking for"..... is all i got.. and YES, these files ARE old enough to be corrupted!! lol. Merry Christmas to all N.E.O'S.

  • I was 8 when this came out man, being 46 now, lol!

  • Jake & Jill, Last one for today, y'all are taking me back!

  • Last one for today Jake & Jill, Mr J was great!

  • His last name was Keyes... His wife was my English teacher in 10th grade....

  • @WCGreen

Well, can you beat that :D

  • Our family still has the Mr.Jungeling Key that we got from Hallee's Treasure House of Toys in the 1960s.

  • What is it with old men hosting children's shows back then? You have Mr. Rogers, Kaptain Kangaroo, Peppermint Place, Barnaby, this guy...anyone notice the trend?

  • dident he go on to found nambla?

  • @howardroard

Hope not, don't need all my Christmas memories popped.

  • Holy $hit! I've been looking for a clip like this for years. This guy was absolutely hysterical. And you knew it was Christmas when you went to Halle's 7th floor and there was his Christmas village. And you ate at the Silver Grille and a kid got his meal served in a small cardboard stove. What great memories. Almost like the movie "A Christmas Story".

  • Thanks. You said every thing I wanted to say.

  • Comment removed

  • This guy scared the piss out of me when I was a kid.

  • Not me, I wanted to go to Cleveland, the BIG city, to see what was in Santa;s pack in the treasure house of toys for all the little girls and boys!!

  • I looked forward to the day after Thanksgiving when I was a kid, that was when my mom, sister and I would head downtown to Halle's , Higbees and May Co. too bad they're all gone but the memories remain..

  • LOL. I remember the jingle, but my family never went to Halle's.

  • Yea I remember having nightmares that he was buried in my backyard. I only saw him on the local TV stations.

  • @jeffpolara Wow, are you hanging around here, too? You had nightmares about Mr. Jingaling? Have you considered some serious therapy? Or maybe treatment with lithium? Next thing you know you'll be writing inaccurate crap about auto accidents or flu shots (hmmmm, how does Triton know about this $hit?).

  • Mr Jingaling was strange to alot of 4 year olds so whats the point? Auto accidents? Sorry nice try. Actually flu shots have damaged alot of people. There are mercury and many poisons in vaccines. I have done alot of research on vaccines and I am not afraid of debating this subject with all the sheep that believe whatever the CDC shoves down their throat. By the way, hmmm is not a word.

  • ghoulardi scared me

  • This is one of those magical "Clevand Things" that's forever etched in my memory. I live in Florida now, and occasionally meet up with former Clevelander's who remember growing up with Mr. Jing-a-Ling, Barnaby, and Captain Penney during a simpler and much more innocent time. Thanks for sharing!

  • i have seen mr. jingling at higbees 11years before the store went out of business in 2000.

  • And still I keep thinking of it as:

    Mr. Jingaling/he's a dingaling

    With his many keys...

    Ah memories...

  • OMG!! Wow.. this is amazing!! Is this a Cleveland thing or what?? Because when I talk to my friends outside of cleveland,Oh.. They are like what?? Hu.. Great video!!

  • i will be posting more soon ! i have several mr. jingeling shows. just need the time. please visit back !

  • Hello! Think you'll be getting around to posting the other Mr. Jingeling videos you have? I would love to know that they are available, so I can share with my kids (when I have them!). THANKS!

  • As I recall...the lyrics to the original song were: " Mr. Jingaling, how you ting-a-ling, keeper of the keys, on Halle's 7th floor, we'll be looking for you to turn the key(s).

Keeping track of Santa's pack & treasure house of toys, wind up things that Santa brings to all the little girls and boys" (repeat Mr. Jingaling how you ting-a-ling...)

Seems like I'm leaving something out.

  • That's how i remember it.. ( guess your just missing the excitement of it all )

it is forever embedded in my head...

  • Yea, this is a 'generation ender'... nothing will ever be 'that way' ever again. sigh

  • how true ! these where great times and good shows. kids today, are missing so much. the shows back than had honor , respect, clean humor. it is a generation ender. all the greats gone ! mr. jingeling, hoolihan and big chuck, lil john, superhost.

  • @conanconquer I loved the clip! What wonderful memories that brought back!

  • @conanconquer I think Big Chuck and Lil John are back an Saturday morning at 11:00 am channel 8, haven't seen it yet, had back surgery cant sleep at night up real late maybe ill stay up all night haven't done that in forever, lol, your right tv was wholesome when it came to children, remember all of the Holiday specials Rudolf the red nosed reindeer is still played every year lots of show's had a Christmas special, the holiday season really had meaning you could feel it with the first snow.

  • lemme see... mr jingaling, how you singaling, keeper of the keys. on Hallees 7th floor, we'll be lookin for.... HELP, i've forgotten the rest!!!!!

  • You to turn the key! I think that is how is went! I was like a little crapper when this was on, and you know every Christmas I still sing this song! I Love it, Thank You so much! These are memories that I do not want to ever forget!

  • Although I deeply, deeply appreciate this clip( more than you could ever know), it is sad that Halle's went out of business, and they had to change the lyrics. How many of you remember watching this come on, right after Captain Penny, at like 4:55 ( or, was it 4:50?) The family Christmas tree lighted up, and all the excitement for Christmas, juts weeks away? All of this stuff brings tears to my eyes, and big lump in my throat.

Thank you for posting this, from the bottom of my heart.

  • thank you !! much appreciated. i am getting ready to upload more, stay tuned.

  • You are very welcome. I don't think you realize how much the things you post touch people's hearts, Conan. These are the days of morals & innocence, which are now lost and gone, forever, and I treasure each and every one of these shows from my childhood. Anything you have from these days are appreciated more than you could ever imagine. Thank you, again.

  • Wow ! very nice.. i do have more and will post. thank you ! audiophile55.

  • You are very welcome, conanconquer. I am sure that I am speaking for many in saying that we look very much forward to seeing your next batch of clips from our past! THANK YOU!!!

  • @audiophile55 Yes it brings back all sorts of memories, like the end of Barnaby, Romper Room, Mr Green Jeans and the Ghoul, do you remember the Million Dollar Movie ive tried to find the the opening music for that show for years, Higbies and Halle,s and The May Co was across the street, i remember the latest fashions in those huge windows, did you know there were indoor tennis courts in the now Tower city, wonder if that little train car dinner is still there.

  • @rayfromw65thst I know what you mean. When I first got high speed internet, You Tube was one of the 1st places I came to. I got to relive my past all of a sudden, and couldn't stop. I'm still going through stuff here at YT, but that first year of searching... I found the original Higbees commercial jingle, with the whistling and the words: "If you havent seen Higbees today, you havent seen..." May Co. and Halles...Wow. I wish we could get the original Mr. Jingeling theme.

  • @audiophile55 Its unreal how your memories can come rushing back, i can only remember a few lines, that tape has to be somewhere ya think, hope you find it, ya that "if you haven't seen Higbees today" has stuck with me for all these years along with a whole bunch of them remember "star muffler", well one good thing from now on we can preserve everything media related, the kids 40 yrs from now will have an unbelievable amount info to dig through that's pretty awesome.

  • @audiophile55 Did you go down to the Supplementary Center, i went twice, i haven't met a sole who has gone there when they were in grade school i can still see the planetarium, i think Nasa Lewis had one not sure, it was so cool we made a necklace out of a piece of copper with colored glass we put a design on it an they baked it and we picked it up later in the day, people look at me like im nuts when i tell them about it lol.

  • @rayfromw65thst I loved the supplementary center, we went ever year from 3rd thru 6th grade. I Lived in Colliwood.

  • @zeb2tone 4 times luck dude, but i still appreciate the few trips i had, i loved the planetarium, i still love all that stuff till this day, i can see why these things are important nowadays we grew up with our teachers fascination with science, they instilled that curiosity in us at a very young age we were the future off America and they spared no expense, they built thousands of bunker like school,s all across the country for us we need to do more for our youngsters, keep your children young.

  • (Cont.) I remember the "Million Dollar Movie" ,but I cant remember the theme. I'm sure I'd know it if I heard it, though.

  • this is super awesome... let this dude down below transfer yr vhs to dvd ... this needs preserved and shared.. id love to have a copy of some episodes of jingaling. i was prolly 4 years old while he was still on tv so its cool to revisit the little memories i have of it..

  • keeping track of santa's pack

  • keeper of the keys

  • Wow....memories....the keeper of the keys....

  • I just posted what I think may be the lyrics from the Mr. Jingaling song that opened his show. What a rush to see this video! I'm sending this to everyone I know that may remember this show from way back. Thanks to the one who posted it on YouTube.

  • 'Mr. Jingaling, how you jingaling,

    with your many keys.

On Halle's seventh floor we'll be looking for you to turn the keys.

Keeping track of Santa's back and treasure house of toys,

Wind up things that Santa brings for all the little girls and boys.

Mr. Jingaling, how you jingaling, with your many keys.

On Halle's seventh floor, we'll be looking for you to turn the keys!"

    I

  • didn+ he send women his underware?

  • I wear women underwear, but I´d like to have his just to sniff on!!!!!!

  • *hits ufelcher with an oversized anime fan* Show some respect to a Cleveland icon, why don't you! The man who played him, Earl Keyes has passed on and he was a kind man.

  • "On Halle's seventh floor we'll be looking for you to turn the key!" Those were the orig. lyrics.

Good seeing Earl Key's again ! RIP Earl

  • Wish we could hear the audio better and get the entire opening. I can convert your VHS to DVD for you, free of charge. All I ask is I can make myself a copy. I reside in the Cleveland area as well and would be interested in any old local TV you have.

  • Do you have any videos of old shows? I was on his show when I was about 6 and would love to see a vid of it. Thanks
