  • This is the best album I own and will ever own <3

  • Tuomas is a genius. Tarja is an angel.

  • @xtreme855 how about Marco?

  • @angelsdoweep Marco wasn't in Nightwish until Century Child :) Sami Vänskä was the first bass player

  • @Fenii88 But you can't deny that Marco is so much better for them and so much more badass. ^_^

  • There's a part "Come to the Elfland the eldest said

In my guidance you shall not be afraid" which will fit for Marco, 'cos he's oldest.

  • My mind has just been blown...

  • magnifique ....

    qui dit mieux???

    c'est la music des dieux!!!!

  • where to hell is this song on this album...sounds good, beginning of nightwish...

  • @hartmetall21 This song was only a bonus track on the Japanese version of Oceanborn so it's kind of hard to find.

  • The intro sounds very Hammerfall-ish but that's no critic. This kicks ass !

  • why Japanese?

  • @rumikostephanie Cds are more expensive in Japan, thus the Japanese versions of most albums have an extra track or two

  • "The Wanderer, storyteller, the pied piper" - Tuomas

"Lead by a maid queen of the night, voice of angels" - Tarja

"A merry minstrel with his fingers fast, playing his lute" - Emppu

"Warrior with power allong the path, hammerheart, his gallantry to last" - Jukka

"First ones to walk this path of night, followed by legions of nightime wanderers" - Their fans

This song is so about themselves!!

  • Awesome comment but where is Sami Vänskä?

  • @The7thsonof7thson I believe he wasn't there when it was written. Remeber that Sami was only a support member for live shows and it didn't officially joined the band until this album was in progress.

  • @martiballs I figured out they were singing about themselves and their fans as soon as I heard the first few lines. I think the song perfectly captures what Nightwish is all about; if you know someone who doesn't "get" Nightwish, play this song for them.

  • Damn it, I love guitar in nightwish , it's pretty powerful , but god , In my opinion this voice does not fit over here. It;s my opinion so dont say bad words on me. But if u want u can give thumbs down :)

  • Nightwish is a piece of artwork, they made so many good songs thumbs up if you want them to become a number 1 band

  • It's odd, I actually bought this album in Canada and it came with this bonus track as well.

  • ima go Play WoW now.

  • Japanese bonus track? That explains a lot. I always thought this would be good material for a J-RPG.

  • The song must be written by Japanese, they are usually better dealing with european culture. just listen to the lyrics

  • @diabolico5 eh...no...In case you haven't noticed from listening to Nightwish, Tuomas writes a lot of lyrics like that. He is an extremely good writer of music, and lyrics.

  • @diabolico5

...the band is Finnish. The words "Japanese Bonus Track" mean that the song was a BONUS TRACK of the JAPANESE release of the album.

  • what do japenees have 2 do with this song ?

  • @MrDragoony It was an exclusive bonus track.

  • @MrDragoony

this song was exclusively on the Japanese release of the album.

  • why dont they make ME a special song huh?

  • tuomas holopainen - probably the best songwriter and composer of our time.

    enough said.

  • The very beginning, just guitar, sounds kinda like Van Halen. But then Nightwish stomps that idea flat. :P

  • you know in flames - Japanese Bonus Track - Eraser?

  • Japan gets all the good stuff. D:

  • Epic piece of shit!

  • they should make an MMORPG based on this song o_0

  • This song makes me want to play an MMORPG and fight evil.

  • @batthatisbat

Sounds like quite a life you live there champ.

  • @CarnifaxMachine I actually don't really play video games; just pointing out the epic-ness of this song.

  • @batthatisbat

    oh ya? well this song makes me wanna play an rpg and be evil >:}

  • @mopoblack Why? I mean, why being evil? ;d

Did you even listened to the lyrics?..

  • Stunnig beautiful well wrtten and sang great art performed by geniuses AWESOM

  • Anette it's good, but I don't think she is the right one to be vocalist in Nightwish. ^^

  • Why do Chinese always have things the rest doesn't. Cheap stores, bonus tracks of Nightwish... pff

  • @DutchDarknessWithin It clearly says Japanese, not Chinese.

  • @TeamTylersEffingVan Same thing, lol.

  • @DutchDarknessWithin

Not true. That one is on Tales From The Elvenpath. Also, this was available in argentina and japan, not china.

  • Its the best nightiwsh's track ever! The old Nightwish, with Tarja, rules..

  • good song

  • the piano in this piece drives me crazy (in a good way)

    it is so awesome :D

  • This song is such an epic piece of music.

    Divinity...

  • Omg TOday i hear this song the first time but i hear nightwish sice 2002 wtf xD why do i not have this song Oo

  • Tarja has unique voice. Not to have a look in a new vocal with her)

  • tarja is awesome the new vocal suck´s

  • How can you say Anette's vocals suck? She sings amazingly!

  • tarja come back anette sucks is not the same

  • Anette doesn't suck. :(

  • Rewelacja :)

  • best song ever !!

  • wow amazing song!!! x

  • I like this song ^^.

  • This and Moondance...best songs ever

  • "Simply the best!" =)

  • It's on the album 'Tales from the Elevenpath'

  • Why japanese bonus track o.o?

  • If memory serves me, albums released in Japan cost comparatively more than they do in other countries, so they often require bonus or additional tracks on the CD to compensate.

  • Why, is there like a tax on them or something?

  • probbly, countrys often impose a tarrif (import tax) on things that sell amazingly better then a simmalar good in their own country, for long complicated reasons, all it means is that Nightwish is apparently really popular in Japan :D

  • it was also on the walking in the air single cd

  • - = * ♥ * = -

  • Is it just me, or does this song describe the band members?

    The wanderer is Tuomas,

    the maid queen is Tarja,

I think the minstrel is Emppu,

and perhaps the warrior is Jukka, I can't tell XP

  • yeah you're right !! this song and it's lyrics are incredible

  • I think thats the point.

  • Good job, but what about Marco?

  • Marco in '98 ? He join the band in 2001. The bass player in '98 was Sami Vanska.

  • @hasandil1 Yepyep. Before Nightwish Marko Hietala played in Finnish band named "Tarot". Hehe, I´ve been once with Tarot guys having few beers back in ´97 or something. Grazee long haired guys! =DD

  • Yes, you're right

Tuomas is the storyteller, I think.

The song describes the band's goal and its members. It's not AWSOME but it's really cool! ^^

Sami's not on the song because he joined the band after the first formation (Tuomas, Tarja, Emppu and Jukka)

  • Sami IS (or better was) on the song because he joined after the first album Angels Fall First, where guitarist Emppu played also the bass. This is a bonus track of the second album Oceanborn and Sami was present.

  • I was talking about the lyrics, he's not mentioned in the lyrics. I guess it's because he joined the band after the first formation, and Tuomas wrote about the momet when they gathered as a band.

Sorry bout my poor english xD

  • ah ok, sorry for the misunderstanding!

  • @whitewolf262 yep it is... the 'warrior' is a reference to Jukka having finished his military service.

  • we all love this song!

  • this song sounds the the best turned full blast with a sub wufer this has to be the best song they ever made

    I LOVE THIS SONG

  • know what would be really cool if someone took the concept of this song and made it into a book! could be very interesting...

  • A film that seems that this song was made for has already been done. It's called The Matrix :P

  • this song made me fan of them

  • This song is ART!!! Nightwish at her best

  • @babylon333 hehe love it how you put "her best" great! i woudn`t have thought of the project in feminin. you have an interesting point of view

  • @babylon333 her? Definitely art, though.

  • I really don´t understand why a Finnish symphonic power metal band would limit one of their best songs to Japan. Do they even have nearly as big an audience there as in Europe and North America?

  • Well a lot of bands do their limited edition in Japan...probably has something to do with the money...but this song is reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaly the best...

  • Actually, as far as I know, the main reason so many bands have bonus tracks in Japan is because it is actually a requirement to add bonus tracks to their CDs, possibly due to the fact CDs are so expensive there.

  • japanese are very power metal fans if you see the visual kei or the j rock or sometimes even j pop they always have some feeling of power metal

  • Visual Kei or Osharu KEi isn't ven close to power metal.

  • one of the best tracks!

  • This is the nightwish i love , not commercialized , pure from the heart ;)

  • Allways great to see other NW-fans.

Too kind of you to post this amazing album.

  • You rock Sophiagarten, thanks to you, I was able to listen to every song on Nightwish's Oceanborn album; Nightwish = awesome!

  • Can't help but to think about the Epic of Gilgamesh when I listen to this song.

    Which is great.

  • thrashy

  • Japan has 2 things.

    1- Anime

2- All the awesome Bonus songs from every band!

  • japan No 1 country in the world! :D technology culture anime awesome ppl everything is in japan!!!

  • Agree on the second :D like Dragonforce bonus songs <33

  • Heh I like bonus songs from Dragonforce too :D

  • Nightwish roxx !!! :3

  • and sexy girls .. dont forget this lol

  • sonata arctica have japanese bonus too ^^

  • @ChainGuN2 3. Nintendo (tops the other two)

  • @ChainGuN2 why is that....lol

  • @ChainGuN2 yep, but you forgot about tehnology, cute girl and awesome hairstyles.Cheers!

  • @ChainGuN2 dont 4get traffic laws :P

  • @ChainGuN2 agreed

  • @ChainGuN2

Besides that, Japan has some hot chicks and high technology, such a wonderful country. They have few raw materials, the best thing is them themselves

  • @vergettigrego The only flaw in Japan is the perverts...once they're gone, we've got ourselves an insanely amazing country.

  • @PyroGothNerd with insanely amazing history. You know why the chinese hate Japan?

  • @anthraxfox I believe in WII Japan invaded China and treated the temples and such there with total disrespect. So of coarse China would be mad. Though, judging from your comment, I'm guessing there are other more recent reasons.

  • @PyroGothNerd Not more recent, WWII was correct. but the reasons are much more worse than disrespecting temples. i suggest that you google "Unit 731" and "Rape of Nanking".

  • @anthraxfox Yikes. WWII was scary times.

  • @PyroGothNerd Is it this bad? Could you please tell me more about this? What do they exactly do? I have never been to Japan, so i don't have a clue about this issue . Are some Japanese women perverts as well or only just men ?

  • @vergettigrego All I know is there are some people in Japan who are perverts. I think there's a law saying if someone's in public they can be molested. Every country has it's bad points.

  • @PyroGothNerd It just seems that way, becuase japanese culture is more open with sexual veiws then in America where everything gets watered down. There are creepy perverts and child molesters in every edge of the world. But i will say, german culture has the worst perversions

  • @veracityserra japanese culture is the best of all time all of them love to work so their country now 1 of the best of all time there is no other country better they are people worthy of respect

  • love that track

  • haven't heard a non-distorted piano solo in a while.

  • I love Japan.

    I love Nightwish.

    I ADORE this! It's amazing!

  • Darn all of them for releasing the good songs in Japan...oh well...maybe iTunes has it...

  • I love how songs in Japan sound like either anime intros or endings.

  • how come the japanese guys get all the good songs... like This one and the wayfarer !!! i LOVE nightwish Manowar and all thoese bands... but i think its annoying that The wayfarer and Nightquest isnt on the Eu. Version of ocean born! o.0

  • I agree ;)

  • Also within temptation do it as well- only released "Jane Doe" in Japan.... damn them

  • the majority of great bands do that!

  • Why though? I don't see how it would be beneficial to the bands themselves, and certainly not fun for the fans.

  • Agree. They should treat all the fans in the same way.

  • They also got Respect the Wilderness which was the second-best song on the whole album.

  • i think you mean Sacrament of Wilderness

  • No, I mean the Japan-exclusive song Respect the Wilderness by Sonata Arctica on their album Silence.

  • ah. thats what i get for butting into conversations. xD

  • Lol At least in finland i got those songs from 10 years of nightwish special edition cds :p

  • why this music isn´t on "oceanborn" worldwide, just in japanese version?

  • awesome song i love it so much ...ha ha i miis the old nightwish life is not fair...LOVE TARJA LOVE OLD NIGHTWISH...and iguess love OLD tuomas

  • yeah.... I don't like his way of made music now... too big in my opinion, too much orchestra... and less guitars, drums, keys... etc...

  • well, I am a big fanatic of the symphony metal music, like haggard or therion, and yes the symphony metal is more that simple metal, the therion's song via nocturna have less metal and more orchestra and I think is a big obra maestra!!!!!!!!!!

all the bands need a change, and later come back to the begings, so for me is fantastic the orchestra, but the old song are the best song for me too

  • mmmm well, jaja NO the sound of rock is so different the guitar sound different, the drums with doble bombo fuck!! all is different, I cant understand your opinion, but is only a opinion, and is not true.

YES, the genios of symphony make his music thinking like genios, and not like metal fanatic, is olnly pasion for the music, and not for a genero, or style, in my opinion, the symphony metal is a mature music. and jaja genios yes I am talking like a fanatic, yes I am

  • hehe that was like spanish with english, were are you from??

  • dude, are you sick? what the fuck do you mean? it is metal, but is only enriched with a little bit of orchestra stuff! it is metal, cos it still sounds heavy....rock sounds really soft, it can never compare with metal!

  • yeah yeah ... I'm gonna explain it better.

Symphony metal, is another thing for me. Is like another kind of music. Metal is agression, a fight against the status quo.

Sypmhony is quite the oposite way. I love it, but not that much in metal, I mean, I love OST, clasical music, and stuff... but in metal, sounds bigger than the rest of the band... that's what I think about syphony metal... don't missunderstand me (and sorry about my english) greets

  • Just like Black metal is different from Grunge Metal, Symphonic Metal is different from Metal. Death metal is different from Metalcore - but they are all heavy, and they are all metal. At least, that's what I believe.

  • I do really love the piano solo on the final of the song!!!

  • One of my favorite Nightwish songs!! love it **

why do the Japanese versions always have an excellent bonus track? (the same happened with 'the escapist' :-S)

  • My copy has this bonus track and I bought it at HMV (Canada)...

  • maybe you accidentaly bought the japanese edition

  • Haha, Chaucer thats quite true. Albeit in the modern sense, middle english is terrible

  • Does anyone else think of Chaucer when reading the lyrics to this one??

The "Introduction to the Canterbury Tales" to be specific as both works are just a list of people going on a voyage, trip, quest, insert other synonym here.

  • slipknot is the biggest crap on earth :)

  • i completly agree =D

and why is it that all bonus tracks seem to end up being on the japanese C.D's ¬¬

    i want iiiiit ....

  • nightwish rules. slipknot is ok. and you just suck

  • No, did you seriously just say Slipknot? Thats fucking laughable. Nightwish > Slipknot, even with Anette. And it wasn't a HIDDEN track to begin with, it was a BONUS TRACK. No one ever said it was hidden.

Fucking retard. Also, learn to speak English, you shitheaded dildo face.

  • Agreed, SlipKnot is one of the worst Black Metal bands I have ever heard.

  • Slipknot is not black metal, it's nu-metal or shit-metal as I call it. Focking wannabies.

  • I'm sorry but Slipknot fucking sucks. They have even become so mainstreamed that stuid fucking MTV is promoting them. That's what's laughable. They showed up at the VMAs looking like a bunch of retards in masks just so all the kiddies could laugh at them. No respecatble Metal band would do that. Nightwish is THE BEST Metal band. They rule.

  • Indeed, SlipKnot forever. But Nightwish are powerfully awesome as well, more so at times, and I'm interested (as an honest question) to know why you're watching the video if you think they suck.

  • hahahahha sorry that made me laugh.

    theres nothing to improve on
