7:20: Robin- "but you're not an alcoholic, he is." LMFAO. I have my issues with Robin being a know it all interrupter but she was always spot throughout the entire Artie downward spiral.
I agree with artie actually. Boredom is worse than not drinking. Although I think artie should have calmed down with the drinking, alcohol definitely adds a fun element to life.
i really hope artie somehow makes it back to the show and completely revitalizes it. i think the show is still pretty good but getting artie back would light a fire under howies butt. theres literally not a single guy in the world tells a story like artie lange.
irish and italians drink much more then jews and most irish and italians in america dont drink socially, they drink to get drunk. meaning i wont drink 3 beers or 1 beer at dinner. ill have 7-16 throughout a night
When you are an alcoholic/addict, you can't see the forest for the trees. Other people can tell you that you have a great life and have every reason to clean up but for some bizarre reason, you just can't see it, it doesn't feel real. To non-alcoholics/addicts, this sounds ridiculous but it's true.
I'm going through this right now. I have no hobbies, and I'm drinking almost a quart of vodka every night. Haven't gotten laid in almost 3 years, and wish I was dead frequently. I've had an intervention too, but I don't feel like getting help really.
@discokidx1 sir, some psychotherapy and perhaps some medications to help even out the road can help. Please see a psychiatrist (hopefully someone who specializes in both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology) and you'll be feeling better and enjoying life again. I'm an internist, but the expertise of a psychiatrist is needed. Also, listen to a proper show like opie and anthony!
@discokidx1 Of course you don't feel like getting help; you're depressed, so you don't feel like doing ANYTHING... and alcohol makes you more depressed. Some part of you must want to get help, though, if you made the effort to comment about your situation here. PLEASE get some help! (Don't mean to sound like a goody-two-shoes; I'm a drunk too.) Good luck to you!
More than 2 or 3 drinks in a night is a problem? I guess everyone that drinks has a problem according to Howard. Who the hell goes out and only has 2 or 3 drinks?
@RespectProcess Normal people? No such thing. Also, there are non drinkers like me that say "if you're going to have a drink tonight, drink it up!". What's the point if you're having 2 little pussy martinis or something.
@stepsinit the type of drink makes no difference. if you do something excessively whether its once a day or once a year then its a problem. it indicates real personal problems. of course there are exceptions like not every person who gets real drunk once in awhile had mental disorders. but id say most do. you need to alter your state of mind.
@RespectProcess I disagree. The type of drink is very different, I mean... just compare bourbon to beer, completely different dosage of alcohol. I also think it's a little bit black and white with what you say indicates personal problems. For instance, i don't drink often, but when i drink... I'm drunk as a skunk, because i want to get really drunk. With your logic, it's because i have issues... Doesn't sound right really.
It depends ENTIRELY on yourself, and your mental constitution.
I agree this is sad to listen to and after hearing Artie on his few appearances on other shows recently I hope he is really better and not just roughing it out like he does trying to not look like a homo.
being a guy who suffers from depression, I know what artie is doing here. He has the tough guy persona on but is telling howard how much pain he is in, in a subtle way. This rant is a cry for help....Its really sad, as all depression stories are.
Artie should get an X-box 360 and play some 'Grand Theft Auto'
that will cheer him up.

Howard could use 20-30 drinks. He might release the stick
that up his ass.
