Probie is a late fighter... yes he was. late after he got his jersey off and gained and unfair advantage. he would not win nearly as many fights now with the jersey tie down rule.
@JAYLEE169 Youre wrong about that.The jersey tie down rule started in 96-97.Probert played until 2002 which means he played 6 seasons with that rule in place.He had many fights that he had the edge in during that period of time.He was and still is the best enforcer of all time
Wendel may have been THE best fighter / goal scorer / big nutted player of the era. PLUS, he wasn't a big guy. He was definitely TOUGH. He did the dirty work, no matter who the other guy was. He should have never had to, but he did. I've never been a Leafs fan, but I've always been a Wendel fan....He could PLAY, in ALL aspects of the game. Old school baby!!!!

Believe it or not he had class, great fighter only fight when provoked - Probert never went on the ice to look for people to pummel - he was looking to score goals but if you pissed Detroit off you knew who was going to come to the rescue.

lol i miss wendel. he wasn't a large man, but boy could he ever scrapped. one of the best captains in leafs history. never afraid to back down or stick up for his teammates. put his body on the line every game.

He and McSorley had to develop into players late in their careers, and they both did.
