  • I wonder why this game isnt known? The music's great n it's gameplay is awesome. I mean R-Type was apart of this system too n it's more popular than this. Why is that. I wish they'd remake this game so others can c the greatness that it is.

  • Luv this game. I remember when I was ten n when I first saw this. It just amazed me. Especially the imitation of voice like the "Alert" n the "I'll be back" parts. Really ahead of it's time. B/c idk if Snes had that.

  • holy smokes, the music in this game is phenomenal; thanks for sharing

  • "seemingly-unknown PC-Engine shooter" - you must be joking it's legendary amongst the PCE Shmup fans and rightly so. Thanks for the video ;)

  • @MintythecatIsABeast Not to mention it's been given a second life on the Wii Virtual Console. Hardly unknown. Retro gamers everywhere are playing this great classic.

  • @vio2112 I wouldn't touch any of this emulated stuff with a barge pole - the genuine item only for me I'm afraid :)

  • @MintythecatIsABeast To each their own, but Virtual Console emulation is simply flawless. In fact the games actually look and sound better than they did originally.

  • @vio2112 I am not looking for something "better" than the original, I am looking for the original experience. The problem I have with all the downloaded games is that there is very little permanence, at least with the real item you can play for years into the future guaranteed.

Also collectors like to hold the genuine item in their hands.

If you just want to play the game then fine stick to emulations, but it goes a lot deeper than that for the retro games out there - we demand the real thing!

  • Bad ass soundtrack!!! Hudson Soft was on a major role creating awesome vertical shooters back in the day.

  • this oddly looks too much like star soldier for the n64 ... even the first boss is almost the sam as the one here

  • Oh shit! interlacing going on right here

  • I prefer Blazing Lazers. Its certainly not too hard, it takes practice but i've beaten it on God mode so its nothing compared to lets say Ikaruga in difficulty. This game is cool too, but not hard at all.

  • best game I have on TG16

  • stop using the turbo setting it gimps your attack. This is easily the most well rounded of the tg16 shumps, #1 on my list anyway. Genuinely difficult without being cheap, huge multistage bosses/sub bosses and levels. It's a shame this is kind of an unknown title because it is easily in the top 10 of all time shumps.

  • For me, this is my 2nd Best shooter ever; Raiden beign the best; but the music of soldier blade is the best one ever in a shooter; and 2nd best video game music i've heard. (Turrican 2 beign the best one imho);

  • very good skils there my man!

can i ask, should i get this or blazing lazers?

  • Get this, Blazing Lazers is fun for a while, but then you just hit a point where it gets so frusterating, the fun is practically non-existent.

Soldier Blade is not only good looking via style and graphics, but the difficulty level is just right. It's hard enough to keep you on your toes, but it doesn't intimidate you from playing. So the replayability is great Catscan.

In fact, it's what all shooters should take an example from when it comes to difficulty.

  • Thanks very much for the advice!

It's taken me till now to realise how absolutely fricken awesome the music in this game is...especially at the begining

I'll definatly get this one, especially seeing as its only 600 points

  • Oh yeah, the music is great too! One of the cornerstones of this game.

Glad to be of help to you. Hope you enjoy this game. I've played it like 3 or 4 times.

  • The weapons and powerups are WAY better in Blazing Lazers so for me thats the way to go.

  • I just downloaded it today, you're right, this is better.

I reccomended it to all my friends and they agree its amazing.

  • if that is the case, why don't you leave this forum and go play your beloved Blazing Lazers. BONEHEAD!!!.

Soldier Blade is way better than Blazing Lazers.

  • Aw man xD, I didn't even realized that you could use those mini-fighters as specials until I seen this movies. Heh, I beat the first two bosses without even knowning about the special seen in this clip lol. Oh and excellent job btw.

  • I love this game, it had a proud new home on my Nintendo Wii. Great music.

  • LOL dude this music is ownage! Why can't we have more music like this for our modern games (except modernized...more instrumental).

  • I 100% agree. We need more synth rock and less J-pop these days.

  • On the Wii VC now.

  • that game is so cool, i still have SUPER STAR SOLDIER and i still play it every now and then, super star soldier is considered to be the prequel to this game, anyways, that is awesome

  • The third Star Soldier game, Final Soldier, came out after SSS and before this. That one never came out in the US.

  • Awesome game, used to play this on my GP2X a lot :D

  • The music on this game is something else. The Advantage et al should stretch out and give other platforms a shot.

Operation 5's tune is the best.

  • i agree with you bro! the soundtrack to this game is amazing and very intense. However, Operation 5 is got a kick ass tune!!.

  • This is one of the few HuCard games with speech BTW

  • I've been playing this game on the vc allot recently. It's addicting >_<. I like to call the first boss the terminator. I'll be back!

  • Boss 1 music is freakin' awesome!

  • Nice shmup man..look's like another for my collection ;)

  • Man, that looks like a lot of fun.

It's too bad that system went unnoticed.
