There is a Cannes Film Festival youtube video featuring "Mama Said", with another girl lipsynching to Shirley's voice. When I pointed this out, the owner of the video banned me from any further comments.........Huh? No Shirley? No Shirelles. ....Shirley was what made them so special, her beautiful voice, face and energy.

On July 30, 2008,my wife and I went to see Shirley Alston Reeves (the lead singer of the Shirelles) perform. And I have to say she was FABULOUS.I am 42 yrs old and I have liked the Shirelles since I was a kid in the 1970's. she has such a terrific voice and is so pretty and cool to. I did not know that she was touring. I am going to have to keep my eye out for more of her shows.

Thanks to Shirley I knew I wanted to sing all the time. The Shirelles were my favorites. My cousins who were teenagers at the time were always singing their songs which is how I learned to love the Shirelles.
I agree with you 100 perscent that Shirley Alston is a legend and has not been honored enough like so many of our great singers. She is a dear friend of mine since 1973 and is so down to earth and the kindest person you would ever want to meet and so down to earth. Please buy her CD's and show your support. Thank you.
