@ScaperSteph Its a Freightliner thing. Used to drive the same chassis that was a Fire Department Medium Rescue and have driven them as a TB CR2...they all do it.
Sounds like a malfunctioning epidemic, wiring mistake or something when it went into production, because there is no useful, or logical reason for this.
The next district over from us had these as a lease last year (they lease their fleets every year) and I thought these were the oddest buses and never seen any like this. However this year they have all IC CE 300's andx our district has the old gas bluebirds with about 30 IC CE 200's and growing as our buses age.
WHAT SYSTEM DO YOU HAVE ON THAT ARE BUS IS THE SAME ONE BUT ONLY THE STOP SIGN FLASHES LIKE THAT BUT THE PRE TRIP THEY WILL FLASH LIKE THAT IM NOT A BUS DRIVER FOR THE RECORED
@draquanscott I would deff. do that but I do not have anything to do with the school buses anymore... instead I am studying English Education. I am not able to just go hop on a bus or even have someone do it now.. haha! Thanks for asking if I could do it though... REALLY would love it... :)
The horn thing is a unique system, it helps the drivers as well as the students. Wen i lived in sc my bus driver drove a thomas mvp er I like those buses alarm or watever yu call it better!
@isaacsbettasonline They come with either a Cummins ISB-07 or Mercedes-Benz MBE 900 depending on what's available......The 2007-2008 MBEs have lube oil problems up until you service them after 20K miles or so.
What happened to the ones that blink like on the bus I rode that had the little covers over them... I mean those lights are too hard to see during the day no one people are running bus stop signs.
- Actually, those are LED's which strobe much like those of an emergency vehicle and are far more visible than the "traditional" flashing lights. They grab attention, they are brighter, and can be noticed from up to a 1/2 mile away in sunlight. We have them on the buses in our school district here in Florida
yeah, our state(SC) have everything from really old Blue Bird/Carpenter/International to Thomas MVP ER transits to Thomas/Freightliner FS-65s to Thomas HDXs to more recently Thomas/Freightliner C2s... ranging from 60 to 78.........
I love your videos on school buses, I drive school bus too for State of SC down in Florence County. I drive a 95 Thomas Transit bus. Yeah you are so right those C2 buses are really nice.I am a young driver too, yougest in my district and this is my 4th year driving.
@darkknight5905 It is a safety feature of the bus when it was sent from the factory. In South Carolina it is called the "Child Saftey Alarm" It is really wierd that is does that, if I do say so myself!
Wait.. wait.. wait.. how does the bus ge teht stop sign to go in, then the crossing gate then the reds shut off?
Sorry, I live out in TN where once you step foot on the bus and get past my drivers shair she floors it. No Parking Brake and Neutral used, as the law says to.
I like it.. but it confouses me alot, lol
I really like how your C2s warning light sstrobe, our C2s just have LEDs while the ICs, like mine, strobe.
this is interesting! im from northern michigan and drive bus for my district. we have about 20 c2's, but our lights dont flash like the ones in this video....and the horn? is that the driver making that sound or is it part of the system? they are nice buses! great post!
THANK YOU! The horn is part of the system. When I first heard it... I laughed so hard! I didn't believe it. I couldn't find a video of a bus that blew the horn like this... so I recorded it for myself to show all of youtube. THANKS for the comment!
We're from the Oconee County which is the top tip of South Carolina.. The Child Safety Alarm is very loud but you will get used to it. In the state of South Carolina, the driver pulling awasy from a bus stop with the alarm sounding, is illegal and she can lose her job for it. Here in Oconee, we have abouit 30 C2 buses. Thery are very nice.. They have their mess ups but they are still good buses!
OMG i know that a safety thing when the bus shut it doors that horn blow, but good lord that thing is loud when it is in front of your house early in the morning when your asleep i hear that mess. Scare the living daylights out of me. And i think Val the bus driver be doing that on purpose instead of her pulling off she wait forever, seem like that horn would never stop. well now i can say that my alarm clock LOL. What city is this we have only 4 C2 in my area. Little town call Mullins, SC
