I was very moved when I first saw this so I looked for more information regarding the exhumation and the seemingly amazing condition of Padre Pio's body. I learned from a news paper article that his face was covered with a silicon mask and that biochemists spent some time preparing his remains for viewing. However, this does not detract from the tangible sense of love I feel when watching this video or immense admiration when I consider the man, his life and his depth of love for all.

to answer someones question this is a mask on padre pio. only because because when his cofin was opened the section above his forehead had rotted away. thei was caused by dampness caused by his tomb being rushed to be finished and the plaster haddnt dried properly which caused the dampness. every other part of his body was found intact and his nails looked as if they had just been manicured

I would like to note that Flesh not decomposing is not something that is all that rare. Look up any other religion and you will find uninterrupted bodies this is not unique of just christianity and the catholic church. So they are either all true or all false.
We love Padre Pio, this is a beautiful video, but I think you have date wrong. His birth was in 1887, not 1861, he was 81 yrs old when he died, your date would have made him 107 yrs old. Thank you for posting the beautiful video!

It means Science is not as concrete as many beleive and there are things beyond explaination. Its not just about proving God but allowing people to open their eyes and understand there is so much we can not explain and understand; therefore should the notion of a God be so easily shot down? I mean it is a beyond explantion how he looks so life like..
Also people connect it to God because in the Bible it states that those who believe their bodies will not decay; so its like in a Science book stating there are is virus making someone sick; you look under the telescope and see the the virus. Both are excamples of theries being proven fact.
@MrDizMay The last time the body of St Bernadette was exhumed (about 30 years after her death) the doctors examined her body and found that her organs were as if she had just died. They noted that the arteries in her forearms still stood out. Bodies can go uncorrupted for a short time afterwards then mummify, but nothing like this.

It seems from (Catholic) sources that his body is not incorruptible (unlike those of some other saints'). Indeed a silicone mask is mentioned, so it would be good to remove "incorruptible" from description.

@ebismanos There is a Wikipedia article that mentions this "silicone life-like mask" you reference. However, the source is said to be England's Malcom Moore. I believe Moore has written more than one negative piece about Padre Pio. I'd be interested to know the sources Moore bases his beliefs (and how reputable those sources are). The original story I heard (don't know how true it is) was that Padre Pio's body was not incorruptible, but that it was only his skull that was skeletal.
Incorrupt bodies are very common among both Catholic and Orthodox saints. The miracle affirms that God one day will rise all bodies from the dead, not just the soul, as the gnostics taught. Bless the Lord!

I was blessed once by a Capuchin friar who personally knew St Pio. It was awe inspiring to have met someone who actually knew a saint.

Hundreds of Yogi saints of India, preserve after death. I even seen a buddhist monk on show undecayed. It's all about purity. And The rubbish in our foods & water un-allow us to be pure.

I don't thin it's a mask,it can be, but it's too perfect, i can't see anything woulded or rotted away on his forehead, even when he was exhumed, it was all normal, just see the video of his exhumation, when a mask normaly lets a face motionless and tough, and his face now in 2011, nowadays is with his mouth a bit open. this footage was made about 2009 or 2010 you can see him with his mouth all closed, now in 2011 Padre Pio with his mouth open!!!

to answer someones question this is a mask on padre pio. only because because when his cofin was opened the section above his forehead had rotted away. thei was caused by dampness caused by his tomb being rushed to be finished and the plaster haddnt dried properly which caused the dampness. every other part of his body was found intact and his nails looked as if they had just been manicured

this atheist IS taking notes, and unlike blind followers, does a little outside research rather than accepting everything as true. This guy is wearing a mask, this is not his real face. Many of these saints so in fact, wear masks to cover up their mummy like appearance, including using wax to improve to look of other body parts, like the hands.
I did look up some videos of uncorruptables because they fascinate me, but I know a lot of them simply wear masks, giving them that preserved look.

They said the body was found in "good condition" after they exhumed it in 2008, Does that "Good condition" mean his blessed body was in fact decomposing, just not fully, and they reconstructed his face and hands with wax, or other cosmetic tricks to make the body appear to be just as fresh as it was before he died in 1968, or is his holy body truly as incorupt as it was on the day of his death 43 years ago?

I watched the you tube movie on Padre Pio and from everything that I saw, and can understand, especially with the limited human ability I possess, The man was was a living carbon copy of Christ himself for our time and age, he put up with suffering on a daily basis all of his life,spiritual,physical and emotional, and he possessed certain Christ like abilities as well like bi location & mind reading.
He truly was a gift from God for our age!

We love Padre Pio, this is a beautiful video, but I think you have date wrong. His birth was in 1887, not 1861, he was 81 yrs old when he died, your date would have made him 107 yrs old. Thank you for posting the beautiful video!

Its not just about proving God but allowing people to open their eyes and understand there is so much we can not explain and understand; therefore should the notion of a God be so easily shot down? @MrDizMay The last time the body of St Bernadette was exhumed (about 30 years after her death) the doctors examined her body and found that her organs were as if she had just died. They noted that the arteries in her forearms still stood out. Bodies can go uncorrupted for a short time afterwards then mummify, but nothing like this.

This incorruptible body is a distortion of scripture, and even evidence of tampering with these bodies to force a belief in Catholics is a deception. John Macarthur segmt. After all, "For as in one body we have many members, and all the members do not have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another" (Romans 12:4-5). Finally, Christ says that God "is not God of the dead, but of the living; for all live to him" (Luke 20:38).

@taestawo --- It is because God is fair that he listens to the prayers of another man. Do you ask your friends and family to pray for you? James 5:16 tells us that "The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects." Since saints are righteous, it is OK to ask them to pray for us. After all, in heaven, they are more fully united to and alive in Christ than we are! God also rewards persistence, as evidenced in Luke 11:5-10 with the neighbor who needs bread and keeps knocking!

@ebismanos There is a Wikipedia article that mentions this "silicone life-like mask" you reference. However, the source is said to be England's Malcom Moore. I believe Moore has written more than one negative piece about Padre Pio. I'd be interested to know the sources Moore bases his beliefs (and how reputable those sources are). The original story I heard (don't know how true it is) was that Padre Pio's body was not incorruptible, but that it was only his skull that was skeletal.

Incorrupt bodies are very common among both Catholic and Orthodox saints. The miracle affirms that God one day will rise all bodies from the dead, not just the soul, as the gnostics taught. Bless the Lord!
