Dave is a bastard. And I once liked and respected him.

First: these "secrets" would have remained so had he not been forced to come clean. He didn't admit to anything of his own free will and out of guilt.

Second: Dave is only a true "victim" of his own actions. Not one dime of Dave's vast wealth ever got to the blackmailer who--though certainly a low-life criminal--wasn't threatening to go public with anything but the truth.

So feel sorry for Dave if you choose. I sure as hell don't.

@laronmaron98 I don't feel sorry Dave. He was never "forced" to "come clean". He DID do it on his own free will. He could have easily paid 2 million to the extortionist (Chump change to Dave) and kept it quiet, but he did the right thing instead. Btw, Dave wasn't married to Regina nor had Harry yet been conceived when Dave was sleeping with the intern or the other staffer. I don't feel sorry for him and I don't believe any of his fans do. We simply have mad respect for him and his grit.

This apology falls way short. First -- why didn't he apologize to his WIFE first? She was the one most hurt by all of this -- and on many levels. Plus he never actually says the words "I'm SORRY" on camera to his wife. He apologizes to his staff, he apologizes to Sarah Palin (poor choice to end with a joke)...yes, this is funny Letterman, but it doesn't say much for his character IMO.
