  • this movie was beyond its time, and soundtrack rocks! cool shit

  • THIS FILM WAS WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY B4 AIRWOLF. I love this film and I Miss U Roy, REST IN PEACE

  • brill film...although it had one "awkward" scene in it...especially when i was 15.......lol - I was watching it with my Dad mannnnnyy moons agao..and Murphy was testing out the new machine and he and the co-pilot where hovering outside the window in stealth mode and spying on a girl exercising nude.....eeeeshhh how awkward that moment felt - you know when you want to sink a million miles into the ground and for it to close up!!

  • when i used to DJ in clubs, they came out with a 12" single of this theme. yup. i bought it. don't think i ever played it though.

  • comment to N1975itro & Naomi0111, i also remember and having laugh at Frank Murphy saying "This thing is nose heavier than the Ayatollah", i am sure he was talking about about the Mini/Vulcan gun (not sure what it should be called though, i know it is definitely not a Gatlin gun) mounted on the front of Blue Thunder.

  • @BigSteve02 The gun is a Gatling gun - sort of. In MILSPEAK it's an "electric rotary cannon". It's a General Electric M61A1 Vulcan 20mm cannon. 6000 rounds a minute at full cry.

RIP Roy Scheider and thanks for this awesome movie.

  • @BigSteve02 > It's just a rotary cannon w/6 20 mm barrels.

  • spit don't hop!

  • love this movie every time i see it. something about 1983 for great movies.

  • i remember my brother loving this and Airwolf when he was a kid, he was chopper crazy

  • yeah blue thunder does not beat airwolf

  • @creativeprojects720 In design it does for me though.

  • It sounds almost exactly like the theme for "Black Moon Rising"

  • @dramaramafan It's the other way around, the composer for Black Moon Rising lifted this from Blue Thunder.

  • Awesome theme song. Certainly brings back great memories from my teen years. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but whoever gave this thumbs down obviously doesn't like the classics.

  • What a film!!!!

  • ''follow my leader'' . . .CLASSIC !

  • he was in cold war southvietnam!!!

  • In fact I think there is a kind of music apropiate for helicopters flying the citty in the midle of the night, no mater if those machines are civilians or militaries.

  • I love that helicopter since I was a child, a dream of device. I always dream having it. And this theme, awesome. BLUE THUNDER FOR EVER!

  • @cookbookreal Well.. its avalaible as a fuselage to fit in RC helicopters...

  • RIP Roy!

  • Cool soundtrack. I was searching this for years!

  • Actually, this is the closing credits theme

  • As far I understand, some soundtracks from American productions, they been realese in other countries Excluding The United States and Canada, specially European countries and sometimes Japan..Is mater of marketing and demand..In the case of Canada,I don't know if still do it..They get sometimes what ever is realese in England...This is a good exmple besides others they are around if this is the case.

  • Roy Scheider was one of my favorite actors. Rest in peace Roy!

  • The Legend is still alive...

Guys, you must watch this great Movie !!!

  • RIP ROY

  • It's hard to believe that this composer, Arthur Rubinstein, naturally bears the same name as that historic pianist. But in his very few movie scores, Rubinstein created synthesized symphonies so haunting and thrilling, the spine can't help but tingle, and the skin is defenseless against goosebumps.

  • something like epic

  • i´m loving it and i´m loving the movie Blue Thunder - Das Fliegende Auge in german...

English: The flying Eye this is a good description ^^

  • chopper is an s a 341 gazelle french copter

  • @kenishi28

right, that is an aerospatial sa 341 gazelle most comonly use as a french gun ship back in the day, this will out run and out handle "air wolf" (bell 222 corporate use helicopter)

  • i think it is the best chopper ever, not even Air-wolf could beat it, thats my opinion anyway.

  • Thats hotly disputed

Actually I suspect a late Generation Havok would take Blue thunder to bits.

But for its Era it was impressive.

Remember it was for police work not open warfare

  • you said late generation Havok, I'm not familiar with that particular chopper? know wait are u talking that toy from Airhogs?

  • @37401982

Nope The MIL4 Havok (several years out of date now) The helicopter that made the Apatche obsolete

  • all right I'm researching the MIL-4 helicopter so far i only found 1 match the MI-4 from 1952 which had several models to 1967.

hey thanks for the for the info.

  • Awesome Chopper, awesome classic movie. Love it!

  • Very nice. This was a pretty haunting theme kinda of reminds me of the theme from Escape From New York

  • This theme kicks ass!

  • Fantastic movie. Roy Scheider, Warren Oates and Malcom McDowell are fantastic. Aerial sequences sensationnal.

    Good story. Very exciting movie.

  • The cast is awesome in this film, liked Daniel Stern, too, as Richard Lymangood a.k.a. JAFO.

  • Good old days..when the music and the story were as much important as the visuals.... Thanks for the upload!

  • i love the movie blue thunder

  • For such a long time I've wanted to hear this tune again and here it is! Such a great theme for a fun movie. I used to watch this a lot as a kid.

  • C'mon you tub of sh*t!!!! Classic!

  • It's almost as good as when Roy says in Jaws...."Smile you son of a bitch"! Great actor ..R.I.P.

  • @Naomi0111 i remember roy saying that line in one of the jaws movies, but which one was it? one or two

  • @Naomi0111 i remember roy saying that line in one of the jaws movies, but which one was it? one or two

  • @nativeguy1968 it was jaws 2. he says it as he aims at the oxygen tank in Jaws mouth and wants him to open up and smile so he can get a good shot! :D just like that.

  • @gp4nut

one actually- he electrocutes the shark in 2 :)

  • @gp4nut - No sorry, it was Jaws 1. Jaws 2 Roy electrocutes the Mofo.

  • I hope and pray that they never ,ever do a remake of this movie. Just look at the new A-TEAM movie and you will see what i mean. Movies like BLUETHUNDER should go down in history as classic's. Roy Scheider was a one of a kind as was the movie BLUETHUNDER.

  • @parcelmate

They're doing a remake of "True Grit" too... what insanity gripped them to do that?

If they do a remake, no doubt it'll be some evil corporation out to use Blue Thunder to persecute Moslems and illegal aliens, with Murphy as a TSA official out stop them.

  • @n1975itro

Just watched it again on fiveUSA in the uk, 11pm and they cut out the word shit ffs. "C'mon" on its own doesnt quite sound good enough :)

  • I don't understanf why they didn't use this kick-ass theme when they did the tv show.

  • DON'T HOP!!!

  • "Don't give me any static lady. This is a police emergency. Get me KBLA TV right now."

  • A totally awesome 80's movie. I love the 80's.

  • I know what you mean, the 80's was awesome. Movie wise anyway.

  • Such a fun movie! Roy Scheider, Malcolm McDowell, and Warren Oates were great!

RIP Roy Scheider and Warren Oates

  • I loved watching Warren Oates in BlueThunder and Stripes. Was just too bad that BlueThunder was the last movie he made before he passed away. RIP Warren and Roy.

Oh, by the way Badalass, Murphy's character was not in the series. It was Chaney and Wonderlove.

  • your wrong.... the character of frank murphy did in fact makes apperances in the series....however played by another actor. second.. blue thunder was not the last movie roy was in b4 his death.... he in fact made several others.. last one released in 2007. and his last one comes out in 2010.

  • What episodes did the charactor of Frank Murphy appear? I have the entire series on dvd and watch it constantly. The pilot's name in the series is Frank Chaney! Read my prior comment a little closer. Warren Oates passed away after the making of Blue Thunder. Warren played the role of the captain, if you have a copy of the movie, watch the entire ending credits. There is a message at the end of the credits regarding Warren.

  • i am very well aware of Warrens death i do know what role he played and have seen the message. Im not quite sure where you found the series on dvd, as I recall there were only 12 eps made for it. I dont remeber exactly which eps as I have not seen it in a VERY long time...I do however recall Franks character in the series.. I have not seen the tv series since I was a child the last time it aired. I was very tired when I read your comment so I thought you were implying both of them.

  • You can go to the the walmart web site and order the series on dvd. It is about $20, and can be shipped to nearby walmart for pickup with no charge for shipping. That is how I got my copy.

  • interesting...ill have to do that then ive looked in best buy and specialty websites. for it and thunder in paradise. and Viper another hardware show i dearly loved. i have airwolf and knight rider and a some others from the 80s.. some are easy to find others not so much havent seen streehawk around have you..???

  • StreetHawk is very rare, although you can search for it on torrent it is available that way.

  • The last movie I saw him in was the Punisher. He played Frank Castle's father.

  • hes done some others since then.. and that was a far better punisher movie than the dolph lundgren version. actually i guess time wise you could call it the prequel to dolphs...but john travolta makes a excellent badguy...

  • Travolta was pretty good in the movie, but his villain was too whiny for his own good. That's my opinion...

  • mmm i think he was supposed to be.. hard ass one minute sob story the next.. emotional basket cases are often the hardest character to figure out as there so unpredictable which is what i think the point of travotas badguy was supposed to be like frank castle himself very unpredictable both different, yet both the same as well.. and both a very sinister charachter. one with morals one without . and in some respects almost no difference between the two..

  • Roy didn't leave behind a huge body of work, but what he left was a very important and memorable one.

  • Blue thunder was a great movie, I have a copy and I still watch it regularly.

  • Thanks for posting, dude!

  • were did u get the song plz ive been looking everywere

  • Great movie... Great actor... R.I.P. Roy... I don't forgot you!!

  • best Film ever CROATIA

  • and roy sheider is an awesome actor

  • Top piece of music

  • Thanks for the posting, this is bringing back good memories.

  • I do like this track.

  • in real apache longbow

  • BLUE THUNDER RULES!!!

  • I think that Blue Thunder and the themes represented in the movie, such as surveillance and Big Brother are very relevant today and this movie could easily bet set in the present just as well as when it was released in 1983.

  • Awesome theme, I love it. Blue Thunder is one of my favourite movies and is right up there alongside Airwolf, however, I can't remember much about Blue Thunder the series, which followed.

  • I remember one episode when Murphy got grounded and replaced by a real 'by the book' type!

  • Do you have the whole Movie soundtrack (album)? Because im looking for the titles "follow my leader" and "hide and seek" And BTW i think this is not the official theme. I ve got a better (shorter)version.

  • I have the full album and this is the main theme. The movie version was cut for sequences.

  • Ok just making a note here. This is Murphy's Law. It was the Ending Credits theme just as soon as Blue Thunder gets railed on the tracks by an oncoming train. I know because I have the DVD. This was one of Roy Schieders best films. That and also Jaws and Jaws II. I still think sometimes people forget also about 2010 The Year We Make Contact which was the sequel to 2001 that Author C Clarke wrote.

  • Dont forget French Conetion! :)

  • Blue Thunder was a real life tactical air response helicopter,Airwolf was "Pimp my Rided" for tv.Still cool chopper all the same.

  • I agree. This was my favorite movie when it was released. I now have the special edition DVD. I wish that I could have gotten the LP record of this soundtrack when it was released. I just sent you a message requesting this theme with my e-mail address. Thank you for posting.

  • Thats not totally true.

Blue Thunder was a strongly tuned Aérospatiale Gazelle.

Nice fact: The big Gatling-Gun in the front of the copter was so heavy that they had to place a huge weight in the back of the copter to make it fly safely.

  • And they had to shoot water out of it!

  • Blue thunder was my favourite movie in my childhood and still is! Thanks for sharing this!

  • you are welcome, thanks for your kind comment. They just don't make them like this anymore!.John Badham was a great Director i say!! War Games etc.

  • that's what i've been saying for years, I wish he'd do another like this or wargames

OR another Short Circuit would be cool as well

  • cool movie cool theme song 5 stars

    =D

i have this movie on vhs =D

  • Need to download the OST.

If only I still had my Matchbox 'Mission Helicopter' to fly this to.

  • I used to pop in the movie while I used fly with that toy. It was awesome!

  • I have the full OST if you want it.

  • Blue Thunder beats Airwolf

  • Hell yeah it does!.

  • @evilcrawlingeye

    always!!!

  • @evilcrawlingeye Not on the best day Blue Thunder ever had.

  • Great song this is a great theme.

  • R.I.P. Roy Scheider

  • i was searching for this since 10 years or more cause the Soundtrack to the movie was not available here in Germany.

thank you so much for this.

    5 stars
