  • wait so.. what are the rings for? and what does it do? *kinda sloww..

  • @rockmaster987 Do you play slide guitar? These allow you to play slide, and also allow you full flexibility of your fingers so you can still play all your favorite riffs using all your fingers. If you use more than one Peaceland Guitar Ring, you can do all of the tricks available in the video and more! Peace

  • ill put this on my Mp3 :)

  • is that a guitar cozie?

  • @whysdarknesssobad Are you talking about the Axsak? That's to protect my arm from the edge of the PRS. After teaching for 12 hours, my arm would just about fall off from the edge of the PRS. But using this, with a small cloth, keeps me going all day long... Peace

  • What are you running your guitar through to get that intense echo? It reminds me of whales calling lol

  • @UpTheIrons911 - I believe at that time it was a Pod XT Live pedal, now upgraded to a Pod X3 Live and a UX1 with Pod Farm 2.0.

  • @PeacelandMusic Thanks!

  • @ignorant114 What mp3 is this?

  • I'm always amazed and inspired when I watch this one, TY James for sharing your music and knowledge, more music = a better world!

  • @Frombonics; you're making some cool music, too... Bro!!! Thanks for saying hi again with the new stuff you've got going!

  • Great to see something new for guitar. So many people/companies try to pawn everything off as "new" or "cutting edge" when it's really just a knock off of something thats been around for 50 years. Keep up the good work guys!!!

  • I saw the bass player from Testament Greg Christian wearing rings but I don't know if he used them and in what hand he was wearing them.

  • love the les paul (?) double cutaway?

  • PRS Custom 24 ;-)

  • This looks great!

What are the lengths, sizes and material of the rings you have in the video?

Also, what are the advantages of glass vs brass vs steel and so forth?

  • In the video, they go from pinky to middle .5", .75" and 1" lengths. Brass and steel are very close in sound, slightly brighter with brass, but not much. Glass has the glass sound, plus it is heavier, and so has a little more mass and a little more sustain, but if you want to do multiple slides, probably better to use all metal.

  • @PeacelandMusic

Thanks! You mentioned it's best to get one and then expand to 3 later on. Which finger and size would you recommend is best to get as your first ring?

In the video are those brass?

  • I like middle finger, if only doing one finger, and I would get a 1" if you are going that route. The ones in the video are Size 9 brass with a rainbow coating (we'll have them eventually, the coating is way too expensive to do at this point), then Size 6.5 Brass, and Size 6 Stainless on the pinky.

  • Hey! I saw ur ad in Guitar World! awesome idea!

  • alright you got me,im going to buy 1.i found which 1 i want but dont know what its ring size is.i know what my ring size is.the 1 i want is the first 1 in the second row of brass killer.thanks

  • That's the .75", then you just have to pick the ring size. Sorry about just noticing your comment. I must not have seen the notification in the email.

  • i went 2 ur guyses website and i keep seeing like 10 rings,do u buy a pack of 10 or the individual rings

  • Peaceland Guitar Rings are ordered one at a time, individually. Figure out your size, then order one and try it before you do too many at once. Better to get one down, and then expand to 3 of them later.

  • damn,i need to get a job.a pod x3 live is like $500.00.thats a lot of money for a 15 year old,lol

  • dude, what strings do you use.ive been searching everywhere for a high pitch tone

  • Ernie Ball, Hybrid Slinky with a 10 on first string. Tone is mostly in the Pod X3 Live, however.

  • dude, i am willing to bet that you can fully wail on the guitar, so my advice to you is:

make a video where you just shut up and play yer guitar!

that would be a much better selling point than this one is.

oh and do yourself a favor and please ditch the extreme reverb/echo effect.

  • This video is to give more specific ideas rather than just wailing. There are others here. Love Echo, reverb not my thing. Not sure why the world is so enamored with telling everyone else what to do. I prefer to do my own thing, and if you have your own ideas, power to you... Maybe you could make a video with no echo. That'd be cool.

  • Really dig the concept and would love to pick up a couple! Just wondering what you're using for the effects in the video?

  • POD XT Live at the time, now upgraded to POD X3 Live. Spent many years playing clean in the 70s to beef up technique, but once delay became avail., it is the closest thing to a sustain pedal on keyboard.

  • That's cool. Can you still perform standard slide playing with things? Like fretting the same fret across 3 strings?

  • Probably, but you'd have to give up most of a finger to do that, which defeats the purpose which is to allow you to play with all of your fingers. My standard answer to that question though is most of the 3 string riffs are getting mighty old, as our motto states: "PLAAY NEEW RiiFFS!!!!!!! There are literally BILLIONS of new things to do!!! Grab a big slide when you need it, maybe combine technologies, get a flipslide on one finger, but you may lose some ability to do some intervals.

  • is it ever too late to start playing

  • Never. I have a student who is 75 right now, and he is "taking his time, making SURE he gets things right!" Love that!!! Make sure you have a good teacher. I had 22 of them (so far).

  • did you start young?

  • My Dad had an agenda to get me going early at age 6. Just before he died, I was fortunate enough to thank him. During our annual recital, I announced that my 1st guitar teacher was with us, and asked him to stand up. Very lucky...

  • how long have u been playing guitar?

  • 43 yrs - NEVER GIVE UP!!! ;-)

    There's always MORE!!!

  • use the wedding ring.....

  • But 95% of any guitar or guitar related advertising you read is sheer BS. I build guitars so I understand how they work. The un truths I read day after day just about drive me crazy. People are sheep waiting to be lead to the shearing pens and slaughter house. They dont listen to anything except what they want to hear . They dont like the truth. Still I do my best to knock some wax out of their ears if I get the chance. A planet populated with mostly sheep is only good for the wolves

  • Love the truth, as well...

Glad we're on the same page.

    Peace

  • I really do wish you luck with your ring slides. I'm sure that they're just what the doctor ordered for some players and their style of picking.

But.....Infinate sustain? That can only be judged when using an acoustic or unplugged. It wont be infinate unless you consider a second and a half infinate? Sorry bro. I dont do the believing in advertising hype thing worth a damn. Hey man. I know you're trying to make a living and probably have a family to feed. I can dig that

  • I don't know if I've ever met anyone who plays acoustic only slide guitar with no amplification, but I'm sure they exist somewhere out there. I'll give that a shot as well here. We'll see how she does... Looking forward to making the sustain demo. ;-) Infinite, yes.

  • You could make them out of lead and they'd still be too light. I understand the principle of weight behind a slide because I make my own steels for playing lap steel. A 5/8"x 3" piece of copper tubing filled with molten lead gives just about the correct weight for good sustain and tone. You can disagree all you'd like but you and I both know that what I say is the truth. I experimented with slide rings years ago and long before you started dabbling with them. They suck for tone and sustain

  • Hi Badams661,

Really appreciate all your comments here. I believe you are accurate in pointing out the need for a video demonstration of the sustain qualities of our slides. I'll be putting that together soon here. Happy to report, I was able to attain INFINITE sustain without distortion or delay using one of our 1" GlassBrass® Peaceland Guitar Rings.

    Stay tuned.

  • Was also able to attain INFINITE sustain without distortion or delay using some slide vibrato with our Standard Brass 1" Peaceland Guitar Ring®, as well.

Once again, really appreciate your bringing this to our attention. We'll have a demo up soon that features these qualities. Thank you!

  • If there wasnt so much delay in the playing then you'd see exactly how thin sounding the tone would be. The heavier the slide or steel you use then the thicker tone and more natural(not electronic) sustain you'll get. Those rings are just way too light to sound good

  • We also have thicker models which are glass coated, either inside or outside the metal, which offer additional sustain for bass and acoustic guitar. The current models offer plenty of sustain for playing lead guitar and adding slide to your solo. A lot of happy people on our growing endorsements list.

  • is there a website to order these because i couldn't find them anywhere

  • Thanks, very much! I plan on getting a steel or brass ring in the future, and I plan on using some of these tricks. I have a long glass one currently but it's really only good for like Free Bird where it's continuous sliding, so a ring is much better for some original soloing with my band.

  • nice idea i could imagine it for beginners, but no chance against a standard bottleneck if it's played by someone who knows how to use it.

If i hadn't had a bottleneck yet and hadn't seen this video, i would have thought about buying some of these, but most of the things played in the video simply sound awful.

  • Looks like you have nice taste in slide players. Appreciate your comments. Not really trying to do anything "traditional" here. Hoping to hear a few "new ideas" using Peaceland Guitar Rings. Thanks for taking a listen. Peace

  • I use these and they are GREAT!!! The biggest advantage I find is that you can play slide and standard licks within a single phrase. They are also made extremely well, a rare occurrence in today's disposable consumer society.

  • I have one and use one (as well as traditional slides) and I have to say they are GREAT!!! You can easily switch between slide and traditional playing within phrases. Really useful little devices and very well-made in this day and age of disposable products.

  • All you're doing is what a normal slide can do. This is crap, really.

  • Hi Richard, thanks for your comment,... true normal things, but when you try to reverse directions or do hammers at top speed, it is much tougher to do with one slide. Also, if you try to return to normal guitar playing with a traditional longer slide, your fingers will be less agile with a longer slide. There are a number of interval combinations that cannot be done without having 3 slides on unless you use pedal steel.

  • Wow man, that delay is just too much...

  • Amazing what can be done with your slide!

  • Part 1 of 5. Thank you for your comment. We appreciate the opportunity to clarify. Peaceland Guitar Rings® were officially born in 1993 (originally known as "MusserRings"), with our original design concept. Because we were determined to make our design available in as many sizes as possible, with the highest quality production, it would be many years before the world would actually see them available online and in stores. The first prototypes were handmade in silver in 1993, and were $50 each.

  • Part 2 of 5. Because the process was rather difficult and somewhat expensive, after years of attempting to develop on our own, we chose to make a few prototypes, along with an earlier version of our instructional demo and shop our idea to the major manufacturers. We were hoping for a licensing/royalty agreement at the time. We were naïve, and did not have a lot of resources at our disposal to do a startup.

  • Part 3 of 5. Dunlop was among several companies we shopped our idea to at Winter NAMM 1999. I have an email letter dated 2/16/99 from a relative of Jim Dunlop, working at Dunlop, stating receipt of our video demo (after we had already demoed the concept live for them at the NAMM show). This was 2 years prior to marketing of the Hoolahan Slide. Our slides are smaller, allowing greater flexibility, and are also custom designed for superior sustain and tone.

  • Part 4 of 5. We have also developed our pat. pending innovation known as GlassBrass™ and GlassStainless™. This was added to the original design along with a significant improvement in wall thickness for greater tone. There is also similarity to both the Lenny Pogan BluSlide and the Hipshot Stealth Slide used by Will Ray. Will Ray is a friend of ours and actually endorses our slides, and we both enjoy a mutual friendship and appreciation for each other's contributions to slide design.

  • Part 5 of 5. The BluSlide is also a considerably different design, and was meant to be worn as a ring and "Hangs off the side of your pinky", as is written on the packaging. Our slides were designed, using the taper, to allow you to decide the perfect fit, while also allowing you easily work with more than one slide at a time.

  • Yeah what a rip off ,this was all done 7 years ago with the Hoolahan slide

  • awesome sound
