a few years ago i used to act out my dreams. it doesnt happen anymore but it used to happen fairly frequently. what would happen is in my dream i would get angry at someone and when i went and swung at them i would instantly wake up swinging my arm or punching the bed.
i have them when ever i have a fever... i have been having them since like 8 years old and now im 17... luckily i do not get fevers very often but excuse my fucking french when i have these they are the most fucking terrifying thing that has ever happend to me.... like what Taknersator said i saw patterns that got big and small to and i would just be seeing very random things but for some reason i wud always run to my parents and wake them up and they would calm me down but holy fuck these SUCK!
I remember one night I was having trouble falling asleep and my chest started to hurt. We're talking heart attack level pain here.
Then this..."ghost-like" thing came out of me (just a floating head, still attached to me, not free floating) and tried biting me in the face. I wanted to scream. I felt the air pass my vocal chords, but no sound would come.
The next morning I woke up and I was curled into a ball under the covers. I'm 21. This was not a nightmare.
Most of the time I do this it's funny, just talkin shite or whatever, but last night I taught my room was full of huge spiders, I screamed as loud as I could, when my parents came in I was standin up on the bed, I realised was was happening then, I was sweating, and my heart was pumping. I never was so terrified in all my life

@youngblud386 i believe that's called sleep paralysis. i experienced that, too, when I was around your age. someone was whispering gibberish in my ears and although i was panicking in my head for a few seconds, i couldn't really move. it's a really scary feeling, so it's a good thing it didn't last that long. if i'm not mistaken, almost everyone experiences that at least once.
@youngblud386 its sleep paralysis. i have experienced it on several occasions. it can be quite unnerving. look it up on google, theres plenty of info on it.
When i was 12 my mom used to tell me that i was screaming in the middle of the night. I thought she was joking. I could only remember that I went to sleep and woke up the next day. Awkward stuff. Well now I know what it is xD
@ajs1850 I dont remember the actual dream that scared me so much I just remember what I saw right before I fell asleep. For some reason my perception of objects in huge proportions seemed to precede it. I also have seen this right before I had my first O.B.E.
@taylorbran123 You've had similar things happen right before having night terrors? interesting :D I hope you reply with more of your experiences.
My cousin is like this, he goes in a screaming rage and gets violent and I'm his punching bag and I usually have to wake him up 2 or 3 times before he is really awake. He trolls me with that every time.
as a suffer of this syndrom it is horrible. i cant remember but my parents kept telling me that i kept screaming that there was a man in my room. i cant remember and im glad i cant. i set up a camera that night to see what would happen and when i went to look at the footage i was spazzing the fuck out. i turned my bed over and i was holding my pocket knife to defend myself from something. to make it worse the next night someone tried to rob my house at two in the morning. FML, Someone help
i once had a dream when i was 6 that i was at a block party and i pee'd on my neighbor... i then woke up to myself in my moms room peeing on a chair... i'm dead serious
@kristenscharenbroch But what if someone woke you up during one? I had that happen to me. It fucking sucked. I had it at about 4am; the person in my room yelled at me to wake up, and I couldn't stop shaking for hours. It's possible to remember.
@kristenscharenbroch I remember bits and pieces, but I can't remember any of the physical actions I did. For instance I can remember vaguely a man standing in the corner of my room threatening to kill me, but I don't remember how I managed to knock over a set of glass candle pillars and a chair. And I don't remember walking through broken glass till I wake up in the morning, see there is glass on the floor and quickly check my feet for cuts.
@kristenscharenbroch Ive had them, and I have slight memory of what I did. such as just walking around or jumping up. I always knew when I had one after I woke up.
@kristenscharenbroch That is absolutely not true. I have had similar episodes as the video and I remember the terrors quite vividly. I promise you, people can remember night terrors. Not all do, of course, but some can.
I think I had a night terror when o was like 9. It still scares me. It was the longest "dream" I've ever had. It was those no nosed, giant, boney ape things from the movie Evolution can't watch that movie anymore and I get real scared when i think of it. U should see what I'm talking about...scarred me
when I would get sick with bad fevers when I was 6-9 yearsold I would have horrible nightmares. I had a dream about a caterpillar bigger than the earth, a caterpillar that was in my room but grew bigger and bigger til it was horrifyingly massive. Then sometimes my mom would tell me that in my dreams I would repeat "I dont deserve to live" over and over again. scary as hell just to imagine it.
I had them as a child but I never kicked around. It was more like a completely hopeless sensation on such a profound level. On my worst and final one, I thought I was responsible for keeping the End Of Everything from happening by giving a little spin to each and every molecule in the universe, one at a time.
I freaked out and yelled for my parents, who asked me if I was on drugs, and I said no. I was 16 at the time and I haven't had one since.
@KenMixtape dude what the fuck, i think i have the same thing, worst feeling in the world, i feel like its the end of the world and i have to do something about it...something related to god and killing..
Ugh, I had several throughout my childhood they're just awful. I remember sitting up after one and it looked like the room was shrinking up on me and then going back to it's original position. I had one about four or five years ago after taking a nap and I remember I dreamed about patterns that got big and small repeatedly. I knew one would happen if my mind thought about objects zoomed up real close to my face right before I fell asleep.
@Taknersator Ya i used to have them all the time and it was always the fucking objects that got me too. i also used to like hit my self and shit when i woke up and stare in the mirror sucks.
@Taknersator The shrinking and expanding pattern is one of the things I experienced. It was accompanied by a deep ringing tone, like tinnitis but worse. It felt that evil and doom surrounded me and everything that had ever brought me happiness and love was gone...taken away and replaced by something very evil.
@Taknersator Holy crap, that used to happen to me also. I would be looking at the walls and it would slowly shrink in almost a shutter... It would all happen while I was awake too...
I used to have this as a child but I grew out of it I sometimes sleep talk and still but rarely have hit out in my sleep, better than running and screaming as a kid.
I get night terrors once in a great great while, but nowhere near as severe as the first guy. Usually it stems from dreams, ill be crying or screaming in the dream, an then my mom or somone will be like "wake up! Whats wrong?!?" because i woke her up from her room. It only happens when i have dreams of aliens(stereotypical grays) watching me.
I have night terrors, I remember them, they are fucking crazy!
I see spiders, insects, rats, rodents, cat size animals(at least I think I see them, but they ain't there). I wake up screaming or trying to kill them & smashing the ground, then I realize its not real after about 2-3 minutes. It's fucking crazy.
few years ago i went to Disneyland, then when i was there on that boat that gives you a cruise in the pirates of the caribean, I had a dajavu, a flash back, like in my other life I was trap on some kind of a hell right there in that special spot where I was remembering that I could never get out of there, and look at me, here I am, so maybe hell is not eternal.
I've been getting them since i was 13. Im 16. I only remember the end of it. I get em any where from 1 - 2 times every other night and My girlfriend gets them everynight and they are proggressively worse. I suffer from insomnia so i get arnd 2 hrs of sleep a night if im lucky.
o god I get them when ever I have a high fever. worst feeling ever. According to my parents I would jump out of bed and scream and point at something and say that circles are everywhere. I even remember once I was drawing circles in mid air very rapidly and scream. then when it was over, it was like, the best feeling ever. complete relaxation. All my night terrors were about HUGE circles coming slowly closer to me, agonizingly slow. agghghg
@Taxmecrazy i had the same thing when I was a kid, but I was awake the whole time, I would allusinate them while awake, it has a feeling somewhat compared to asthma attack, but at the end I know it was all in my brain, fever can get you to that point in state of mind. other people like in this vid, seems that they don't get brain disconnected while sleep, so most of the times they act the dreams, but imagine in a few 50 years when they invent dream machines, we would understand more about this.
@1800levso yeah i hope so...sometimes like, when i'm in the middle of doing something, I get like 1/4 of the feeling i had when i had a night terror, and I just freeze. Even right now, I have this icy cold feeling of terror in the bottom of my stomach that comes up whenever I think about these things...
i've had it when i was a little kid like your son and i almost remember everything: falling into infinity and darkness, intense and unexplainable fear and horror. like it's never gonna end. that's how horrifying it really is. i have had a couple of them recently, too. i have done some drugs and had bad trips but they are nothing compared to this. the reason im telling this to you is that you shouldnt be worrying, even if your kid remembered these terrors, because it really makes you fearless.
0:30 That would totally suck. For many, it's bad ENOUGH not being able to control appetite while AWAKE. "Sleep eating" people dont stand a chance losing weight....and many don't even know they're DOING it.
Sleep walker here... guilty. They 'say' you grow out of it, but I'm in 40's and it still happens occasionally. I was told that I even DROVE in my sleep once (and I am NOT KIDDING). I've awoken the following day and there were lights turned on that I had no recollection of turning on the night before... and was the only one in house at the time (husband worked 3rd shift). Another incidence where I screamed and thought someone was trying to pull me out of the bed....
@recyclecongress o_O glad you drove safe hard to wrap your head around that though.. stopping at lights, avoiding traffics and switching lanes.. all while youre asleep
@freak51 I didn't drive far, apparently. Just to the other end of apt. complex. When I awoke next morning I remembered dreaming about parking on a hill and gazing at the stars to watch a comet or something. Only that it seemed like I was really THERE. And that morning my car was parked exact opposite from how I always park, and there were no spare keys to my car nor did anybody drive it. I definitely drove. If people can sleep-walk, why not sleep- DRIVE?
If I did remember them, they were usually pretty similar events. It would usually start with the sound of someone walking in my house or room. Then i would hear someone whisper my first name over and over. When I opened my eyes I would see a faceless figure standing over me. Other times I would hear and see my door opening and a man walking in to get me. Horrifying things. I know my uncle had them as a child. So i'm hoping my children don't have to suffer them.
I had them almost every night from when I was 7 till about 13. A lot of screaming and yelling. Most nights I didn't remember them, but my family did cause I was constantly waking them up scaring the shit out them. Multiple nights i would come running out of my room holding a bat and hitting things. I still have them every now and then. I had a few in college in the dorms with my roomate. I felt really bad about it cause i scared him. This is probably one of the reasons i'm so nervous today.
my brother suffered from night terrors when we were little. it used to freak me out alot because we had a bunk-bed and i hadent a clue what was happening he would scream and shout about random things in the night but had no or little recollection in the mourning
i've had night terrors my whole life. every couple months (could be more like 6 if i get lucky) i have a night terror, an example of one is me being shot at and the noise of the gun was so real (was awake) another i kept going from awake from sort of out of it. i would be in the dream then switch back to sitting (wasn't asleep but just zoned out) that night terror is extremely hard to explain.
If you sleep a normal schedule you will have night terrors the same time every night. It happens when you hit rem sleep try and have somebody wake you up 15 min before your usual night terror for a couple of nights and see if it breaks the cycle
I started getting a mild dose of this like ten years ago. Just as I would fall asleep I would see and hear creepy things in my room and scramble backwards in terror. Then I'd wake up and realize nothing was happening. The reason why I probably never got full blown NT is that I have the opposite of this disorder-- I have sleep paralysis, so when I fall asleep it's impossible for me to act out my dreams because I can't move at all! Sleep disorders are so wacky!
Here is my full description of my night terror when I had a fever. This is what I remembered
I remember myself saying, ''Why is there squidward in the number 8?'' After that I got up and started jumping around saying '' Why is spongebob and squidward in an auction house''? Then I started yelling and screaming about Spongebob and ran downstairs. I ran back upstairs and went into my father's office and started to ''Yoga Dance''. In the end, I drank water and fell asleep again. Water really helps
Can anyone help me? When I went to sleep I started to move around, then yelp, then cry for no reason, then scream at the top of my voice! I'm only 12 and for some reason I am having visions of hell and fire and lava burning me then my mom tries to wake me up, but when she tries i push her off like I had adrenalin, she said I was so strong that my dad couldn't even pin me. It was like a demon was inside me torturing me. And hurting my soul. But sleeping makes me weak! PLEASE HELP!!!
@HalozPotatoez123 I had night terrors more often when I was younger, I have them from time to time now (im 20) but generally they tend to subside as you get older. If you play games its recomended to stop playing at least an hour before going to bed, also keeping cool helps, if its really warm drink plenty of water and put a damp cloth on your forehead, these helped me, infact last night I felt one coming on so I got up drank water & splashed water on my face which stoped it.
my mom told me that she used to suffer from night terrors at my age. sometimes I wake up to find myself sort of doing the motions in my dream (in my dream I was hyping and I woke up moving my legs like that). and I sometimes wake up to find myself mumbling stuff that could be related to my dream. do you think I could have been doing this during all of my sleep?
I had bad epidodes when I was 8-10 years old. One especially bad episode happened at a family camping trip, and I woke everyone up. My cousins probably think I'm a nut.
I have terrors when I stay up all night and then go to sleep the more I stay up the worse the episode when my mom holds me down I scream really loud, one night I woke up half way down my back alley...
i have night terrors for me i wake up screaming and yelling and i hallucinate and if anyone tries to touch me to calm me down i push them away or hit them i had an epsiode a few nights ago where i woke up screaming and freaking out and my fiance tried to grab me to calm me down and she told me that i hit her and tried to jump on her i never remember what i dream about or what happens after i calm down they are very scary when they happen i have a night terrors about two times every few weeks
i rember when i was young i had a massive fear of things like ventriloquist dummies and dolls comeing to life i had a wheird experiance where i was "awake" but what i seen couldent possible have been real the room was filled with them i rember hereing one say if you get up and put the light on we will hurt you or kill you something like that i rember being scared shitless and not able to move after awile running for the light and there obviouslly being nothing there i never knew what this was
This happens to me once in a while. I wake up scream and I say for instance something like this : "Please, can you hurt me afterwards?" Creepy, eh? I said that once...
@MissChelseaBoBo it is disturbing..im no doctor but i constantly freak out my girlfriend with it..always scared..ghostly images - attacked - voices...the other day I took Norcor and I had hallucinations of the worst kind, it was like I was asleep but there have been a few people in the building saying they see a little girl - sure enough - during this - i see a little girl come by me and asked me if she could get some chocolate - she whispered in my ear - that would be the last time I take med
If I ever dream about water, heights or insects, I usually wake up sitting up, striking either the back of my neck or my arms, which, luckily, wakes me up. Bleh.
My brother who is older than me used to have this, he sleeped in the same room as me, I was like 9 when this happened. He used to scream and once he tried to climb on the wall next to my bed. I was terrified, hehe. :-P
i had this when I was like 12 maybe 11 not sure. it was horrible, i was crying, screaming and always went to wake up my parents, and i was always saying that I am afraid, or he is here and my parents were asking who and so..next day I woke up and didnt remember anything. but only thing I remember that there was always the same dream again and again..i was flying in some kind of color space and very weird things were flying around me. horrible.
i had night terrors when I was like 12. i cant really describe what i were seeing, it wasn't like a human trying to kill me or something, it was just illogical things. It was just creepy. I didn't want to go to bed the time that I used to have night terrors, I was to scared of what I would see when I fell asleep.
I had this. And remember every peace of it. I had it for several years. I thought it was common. it is the most horrifying 'experience' i have ever had. No-one can imagine how intensive it really is. At least for me it was. It wasn't anything like a human trying to beat the crap out of you with knives or whatever. U can't even imagine how I still panic a bit and am close to tears when I even think about it.
I've had this for years, thank fucking god I don't remember any of it. Last year sometime I woke up with my fist through the wall. i guess I was fighting something and i punched the wall. The only downside is I am always extremely tired...
I used to have this. I don't remember most of the things that scared me, but the most vivid thing I remember was when I had a dream my parents were killed by a walking tree-man... since then I have had the samre reoccuring dream of this tree-man who when he touched someone, he would turn them into a tree with a face... even just this week I have had the same dream 4 out of the 7 days.
I used to get these between the age of about 6 up to 14 I think, I never ever remembered what happened in them, I occasionally get a millisecond flashback now and afterwards i'll be terrified for about 10 minutes, my mum said that whenever I had them no one could console me because anyone that came near me I would be terrified of them and do anything to get away from them, one time apparently i fell down the stairs trying to get away from her.
I'm 17 and i've only just stopped getting night terrors about a year ago, I never had them as bad as this though, I would just wake up terrified and breathing heavily and occasionally screaming, but I never knew why? Like they weren't nightmares, I'd just be shaking with fear but could never explain what I was scared of or what I saw. So glad I don't get them anymore.
Jeez.....i didnt know people had it this bad.....All I would ever do whenever I had a night terror was scream bloody murder accompanied by pure unimaged terror. The episode would usually last a second and then I'd be like "What the fuck just happened???" I got so annoyed because I couldnt explain to my parents what was going on.
This happened to me once before, and it scared the crap out of me. I was about 8 or 9, and I woke up because of some thunder, and couldn't move and started seeing things... scared me so much. Now my friend is doing a study on lucid dreams, and wants me to participate, but I'm reluctant, because this is a big possible side effect....
I used to get these every couple of months until around a year ago. I would have this absolutely sure feeling, like I had never been more sure of anything in my life, that some immensely, absolutely immensely, terrible thing was going to happen. They seemed to go on for hours. When I snapped out of them, my heart would be going a mile a minute, and I would be shaking so much I couldn't operate a door handle properly, and there would be a protracted feeling of disorientation.
I would always have night terrors when i was 12 and the worst part is not able to breathe well, for me. the second is the paralysis and thinking how much longer till you get to wake up..
i only ever had one night terror i can remember, i never have the anyway. It was about clowns, i woke up near tears, turned on the light and sat up in bed for 30 minutes. I couldnt move no matter how hard i tried i just slept sitting up because i was to scared to move yet alone breath. I managed to turn off the light but i slept in the same position all night.... I will never forget that...
I had night terrors when I was about 12-13 ish and all I remember is waking up and genuinely fearing for my life for no reason. I felt as if i were about to be killed and I ran around the house and woke everyone up and in my worst one I picked the stereo up and through it on the floor. I would eventually break down on the floor in tears which finished it up. I can safely say they were the worst experiences of my life, just the shear terror of something you have no idea about.
@hurro67 thats just like me, I had one last nighht I am 13 and I ran around the house and I thought I had done something really bad and it just felt as if I was going to die now because of it, and my head felt like a funnel for some reason, anyways I ran around the house yelling and screaming, and my dad was there with me and I had the need to take a walk outside and then I just ran at the window full speed and like smashed into it. It was weird,
@weezproductions Im 17 now, and even up to about last year I would wake up and not be quite awake, I wouldnt get up but I would imagine there was a wasps nest in my room and stuff? Its really really odd, Im so glad theyve stopped now. When I had my first at like age 12, I didnt want to be in the house cos it reminded me of it :( And theres a trigger, all i remember is sleeping and just feeling a massive threat but I really cant explain it. Its so hard to put in to words :/
I hit my boyfriend across the face yesterday after he whispered goodnight in my ear.

worryrokspaz325 2 months ago
@kristenscharenbroch But what if someone woke you up during one? I had that happen to me. It fucking sucked. I had it at about 4am; the person in my room yelled at me to wake up, and I couldn't stop shaking for hours. It's possible to remember.
katfish153 2 months ago
@kristenscharenbroch I remember bits and pieces, but I can't remember any of the physical actions I did. For instance I can remember vaguely a man standing in the corner of my room threatening to kill me, but I don't remember how I managed to knock over a set of glass candle pillars and a chair. And I don't remember walking through broken glass till I wake up in the morning, see there is glass on the floor and quickly check my feet for cuts.
StandAsYouAre 1 month ago
@kristenscharenbroch I remember mine, they even tested me from my actions to see if i was acurate to what I was saying and I could remember them
Casanova1177 2 weeks ago
@kristenscharenbroch you can remember night terrors,in fact of all my weird sleep related disorders, I remember my night terrors the most vivdly.
This has been a good thing for me though as I'm now able to control them and have become a 'lucid dreamer'.
The hypnogogic visions have become a gateway for me now rather than a terrifying prison.

@kristenscharenbroch That is absolutely not true. I have had similar episodes as the video and I remember the terrors quite vividly. I promise you, people can remember night terrors. Not all do, of course, but some can.

when I would get sick with bad fevers when I was 6-9 yearsold I would have horrible nightmares.

I even remember once I was drawing circles in mid air very rapidly and scream. then when it was over, it was like, the best feeling ever. complete relaxation. All my night terrors were about HUGE circles coming slowly closer to me, agonizingly slow. agghghg
Taxmecrazy 6 months ago
@Taxmecrazy i had the same thing when I was a kid, but I was awake the whole time, I would allusinate them while awake, it has a feeling somewhat compared to asthma attack, but at the end I know it was all in my brain, fever can get you to that point in state of mind. other people like in this vid, seems that they don't get brain disconnected while sleep, so most of the times they act the dreams, but imagine in a few 50 years when they invent dream machines, we would understand more about this.
1800levso 6 months ago
@1800levso yeah i hope so...sometimes like, when i'm in the middle of doing something, I get like 1/4 of the feeling i had when i had a night terror, and I just freeze. Even right now, I have this icy cold feeling of terror in the bottom of my stomach that comes up whenever I think about these things...
Taxmecrazy 5 months ago
i've had it when i was a little kid like your son and i almost remember everything: falling into infinity and darkness, intense and unexplainable fear and horror. like it's never gonna end. that's how horrifying it really is. i have had a couple of them recently, too. i have done some drugs and had bad trips but they are nothing compared to this. the reason im telling this to you is that you shouldnt be worrying, even if your kid remembered these terrors, because it really makes you fearless.

Another incidence where I screamed and thought someone was trying to pull me out of the bed....
recyclecongress 6 months ago
@recyclecongress o_O glad you drove safe hard to wrap your head around that though.. stopping at lights, avoiding traffics and switching lanes.. all while youre asleep
freak51 2 months ago
@freak51 I didn't drive far, apparently. Just to the other end of apt. complex. When I awoke next morning I remembered dreaming about parking on a hill and gazing at the stars to watch a comet or something. Only that it seemed like I was really THERE. And that morning my car was parked exact opposite from how I always park, and there were no spare keys to my car nor did anybody drive it. I definitely drove. If people can sleep-walk, why not sleep- DRIVE?
recyclecongress 2 months ago
If I did remember them, they were usually pretty similar events. It would usually start with the sound of someone walking in my house or room. Then i would hear someone whisper my first name over and over. When I opened my eyes I would see a faceless figure standing over me. Other times I would hear and see my door opening and a man walking in to get me. Horrifying things. I know my uncle had them as a child. So i'm hoping my children don't have to suffer them.
LarryFlynn22 6 months ago
I had them almost every night from when I was 7 till about 13. A lot of screaming and yelling. Most nights I didn't remember them, but my family did cause I was constantly waking them up scaring the shit out them. Multiple nights i would come running out of my room holding a bat and hitting things. I still have them every now and then. I had a few in college in the dorms with my roomate. I felt really bad about it cause i scared him. This is probably one of the reasons i'm so nervous today.

i've had night terrors my whole life. every couple months (could be more like 6 if i get lucky) i have a night terror, an example of one is me being shot at and the noise of the gun was so real (was awake) another i kept going from awake from sort of out of it. i would be in the dream then switch back to sitting (wasn't asleep but just zoned out) that night terror is extremely hard to explain.
PurpleFurryOtter 6 months ago
Insane. They aren't even considered dreams, since they don't occur during REM.
MrChristianRC 6 months ago
If you sleep a normal schedule you will have night terrors the same time every night. It happens when you hit rem sleep try and have somebody wake you up 15 min before your usual night terror for a couple of nights and see if it breaks the cycle
Reneezombii 6 months ago
