@wantsvictory i have the new one, and it's not "retarded". the whole point of the Classics line is to create new, updated figures of classic characters that, while modern in design and articulation, still hark back to the classic design. Hot Rod, or simply "Rodimus" as the toy is now called, is no exception to this. Some people are just opposed to any kind of change, and are immediately "oh this version sucks cuz it doesn't look EXACTLY like the original, or doesn't look EXACTLY like the toon."

I was at the age of kind of out growing them, but I decided to rent the movie. It was shocking seeing all my favorite Transformers being killed off!!!

They said they did it so they could introduce a new toyline, or something close to this. Mean while, kids across the country are heartbroken and wondering what to do with their toys that were just killed off! lol

look, here's the facts.

1: Hot Rod was a child that thought he could help

2: Optimus probably knew he would die fighting Megatron and probably planned for it

3: Hasbro does some pretty stupid things but creating Hot Rod wasn't one of them

4: It was his fate to stop Unicron by opening the matrix. events just fell into place to make sure that he somehow gets te matrix in his hands inside of unicron.

Optimus dying and Galvatron being there were just unfortunate things that had to happen in order for Hot Rod's fate to happen. You can't fight fate, and neither can Hot Rod. He never wanted to be leader, as you can see from the episodes after the movie, but because optimus was dead and he had the matrix he had no choice. Besides, optimus becomes the leader again after the third season. (even if the fourth season was only three episodes)
