ill tell ya as a 12 year old kid, this was the shit, i loved wrestling and have all my life, my grandma couldnt afford much but i had all my wrestling stuff, i had all the gameboy games and snes games, and i remember sitting just listening to the themes on this game and the raw game for snes, i love wrestling theme music, i couldnt believe how good these sound, and still today it amazes me they got this from a 16bit cartridge
I, like all other WWF/E legends jumped ship around 97/98, but the biggest change for me was when Bret Hart got screwed; when I heard he was in WCW, that's when I really watched it religiously.
wwf was great until it changed in 1998 and was the attitude era, i didnt like wrestling there from on even watching it for 6 years til 04, old wwf was better with the old logo, old wrestlers, old ring, mcmahon as commentator and news programs that was what wwf was about. now it sucks, get rid of wwe
@sidprogrammer What do you guys have against Attitude Era and the people who watched it as kids? Sure Vince screwed Bret, and the untimely demise of Owen, but the era was a turning point for WWF to make itself known in the entertainment industry. Granted, everything for me stopped when the PG Era reared its ugly face, but Bret screwed Vince, and he actually came back as well as The Rock and Steve Austin (for now). And we still have some wrestlers from way back when.
I remember playing this back in the day,I always picked Yokozuna or The Undertaker (I actually dressed up for Halloween back in the day when I was younger.Great memories! R.I.P Yokozuna!
Let's see, Genesis version was Randy Savage, Undertaker, Bret Hart, Crush, Shawn Michaels, Razor Ramon, Yokozuna and Lex Luger, plus Hulk Hogan, Papa Shango, IRS and Hacksaw Jim Duggan. IRS was teaming with DiBiase as Money Inc at the time so he has DiBiase's theme.
Anyone know what Flair's theme is in this game? It sounds so epic and appropriate for him. Mr. Perfect's theme was always my favorite; all of the themes in this game sounded great. Why didn't WWF/E ever use these versions, I wonder?
They've been able to use his usual theme ever since buying out WCW in 2001, but this game was made long before (92ish?) the buyout, so it features the Knockoff Version he used in WWF in those days.
i like razor ramon's theme, it's very 90's, as bret's and hogan's are very 80's. listening to these old tunes takes you right back to that place in time. my favorite tunes are tatanka's and mr. perfect's
flair's theme on this game sounds better to me than his actual theme. for a long time i thought that that was his actual theme while he was in the wwf. but then, quite recently i saw wrestlemania 8, and saw that his theme was the same as before and after he was in the wwf. they must have had to change it on this game for legal reasons or something.
@Deanobucko917 This actually WAS his theme in the WWF in 1991-1992. It's the Wrestlemania 8 video that you saw that was changed. And yeah, I loved that version of it. Sort of a knock-off to his "usual" theme, but just as good.
i miss the old shawn michaels just by looking at his pic you can tell how different he was back then HEEL, COCKY,and STRONGER Heartbreak kid shawn michaels one of the best of all time, too bad hes old now :(
The Genesis version totally owned the Snes version for Razor Ramons theme but Shawn Michaels theme on this sounds bad ass. I don't want to get into the whole arguement about which was the better console but I liked the Genesis entrance music versions a bit better for Royal Rumble and WWF Raw.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Most of these themes are awful. The writers must've barely listened to the real versions. Some notes are just completely off. Listen to the real version of Razor's theme and then listen to this one . Mr. Perfect's theme was really good. Flair's theme wasn't too shabby. Yoko's theme could have been faster. Otherwise it was a poor effort all around. Damn those production deadlines.
For your information smarty-pants. Back in the day, I made midi versions of two WWF theme songs and emailed them to one of the Acclaim guys, who's name escapes me, and he thought they were great. He offered to include my help in one of the next games but I would've had to go to Utah. I couldn't do it, at the time I was just a kid. (Wow, this sounds like bullshit, but assure you it's true.)
In all seriousness, you'd be surprise. The problem with the way they made the music was that they played the parts on a keyboard. What I did was write it out, note for note, on a virtual score-sheet. I'd listen to the real song and try to match it. I was capable of adjusting the way each note sounded. A lot of times they were playing the wrong notes. My way took a little longer but sounded much better. With music, the smallest change can make a big difference. Their deadlines were the problem.
How is that "lol?" His finisher for a while after his 1992 heel turn was a cradle side suplex. It was a damn good move...dropped the poor suckers on their head at a high angle.
He shoulda used it against Randy Orton when he wasn't allowed to use Sweet Chin Music.
He did use "Sweet Chin Music" in his Rocker days, but simply as a crescent kick/superkick.
Not many will remember Shawn as using his slingshot/teardrop suplex, but he did occasionally use it. Maybe those chose it because the superkick was a harder animation.
This game was GREAT back in the day. IYH for the Play Station was my personal fav. But who could forget this one. Yoko was great, Bret, Razor wish I could play this game again!!
Everybody's got a price for the Million Dollar Man, hahahhahahahahahahaha. Brings back a lot of great childhood memories. When I was a kid I used to play this game a lot, especially during the weekend, I'd wake up and the first thing that I did after brushing my teeth play this game and Raw as well.
Yeah seriously Shawn was a heel here. And Ric was in the WWE here as a heel. Flair wrestled in WCW for a long time before he moved to WWE then back to WCW until WWE bought it. Now he wrestled at WWE for the longest until now when Shawn defeated him in his career threatening match which was held at wrestlemania 24.
HBK used to use the piledriver as his finisher sometimes too. He still does his piledriver rarely, usually to somebody on steel steps such as The Undertaker or Cena.
The SNES Version of this game is so much better and superior than the Sega Genesis version. I own both systems AND both versions of this game(The same goes for WWF Raw). The graphics, photos, sound quality and gameplay are far superior on the SNES. Especially the selections of wrestlers too.
Before he used the Superkick as the finisher, Michaels had the Teardrop (back) suplex. I wish HBK uses it against Flair at WM XXIV this Sunday for old times sake.
Yeah he's been wrestling since WCW now WCW went out of business after Vince bought it out when he had that "WWE invasion". That's when he changed WWF to WWE.
Man this game along with Raw on the SNES was the shit man. It beats other games hands down if you're a WWF fan. The best theme song was HBK's theme song and The Undertaker's theme song.
