Great song, but I wish they didn't remix it like this for the single release, the album version was way better and it would've surely done better on the charts if that version was promoted.

Simon NEVER learned how to sing! Gawd, this song is awful. Best album ever was the 1st album. Go back and listen to the song Planet Earth (or Planet ROCK as we like to call it). That entire first album kicked serious ass. MTV killed their creativity...
@xmysteryz - No, he owns the band name and all rights to band material not specified in other contracts. If he were to quit Duran Duran, they'd have to change their name. Look it up.
@klingoncelt I suppose, he did come up with it, didn't he? I think it was on a documentary, he watched Barbarella with his mum and asked 'What do you think of that?' - the reply was 'That's ridiculous!'. So naturally they took that name.
And, xmysteryz, no offence, but this not one of their worst. Trust me...
if duran duran lost some identity of sound on after the split its not from 2 members leaving but the notable decline of nick rhodes synthesised/disco sound/influence on notorious. Actually one of their best albums. Hopefully the new album has a classic duran duran tune but i'm not so optimistic.
I agree with martin3801: Nick Rhodes carried that band, even though he gets little credit. Pretty much because too many of their fans like the band because of John Taylor's cute bad-boy appeal second to the music :-/
there's good musicians and its slick sounding but notorious lacks the pop appeal of rio which has dated considerable less and it might be most durranies favourite but i am in agreement. Some people think they are clever by going for a different preference. Nile Rodgers also produced David Bowie's "Let Dance" which was bowie's worst album in years.
i agree with you about rio...it captures that 1982 moment, i know exactly what you mean. about bowie, i never heard the whole album to make an opinion, all i know is that it was/is bowies' biggest seller ever. i dont know, i just idolize Nile/Bernard/Chic...lol.
i'd say that in the middle of a duran maelstrom they were clearly enjoying themselves when they were making this album... hard to make a comback if you've not been having a good time in the intervals!
hi i agree i feel that Notorious was a brillaint album, sum great songs, one of my fave is this meet el presidente & matter of feeling, along with american science, skin trade.

I love Duran Duran. I have been a fan since New Moon. But, to me I feel that Simon really learned how to sing on the Notorious Album.
Since that album Simon has sound more presentable to the modern mass as a singer. Just my opinion.

Nick Rhodes did not carry this band. Their rhythm section did. Nick Rhodes and Andy Taylor were there for atmosphere.
