  • As for the Charleston, WV which it was CBS changing to ABC, it changed affiliations during the run but not my then CBS affiliate WJBK that aired the show changed networks it changed to Fox in 1994.

  • Anyone remember that very short-lived FOX game show called "It's Your Chance Of A Lifetime"? It was hosted by Gordon Elliott and only lasted for a week, I remember there used to be an episode uploaded, but Youtube removed it for some stupid reason, so if ANYONE could upload that show, that'd be great!

  • i've never seen it rain money on this show when a watched it as a kid....

  • Found out that someone uploaded the whole episode of this couple winning one million dollars on the show. This was on September 30, 2010.

  • Game Shows on big money paid out are covered by insurance in case of a $1,000,000 win.

  • "SOOTHSAYER!!!"

    "SOOTHSAYER!!... Nope"

    "SOOTHSAYER!!!!"

    ""YOU GOT IT!!!" XDDD

    That was funny

  • 5-second audio lag.

I hated how they dipped into the $1M cash for prizes. I think this was the death note of the show.

  • @georgef551 $900,000 in cash isn't a lot of money?

  • @fatmanfiftythousand

It is, but the title "$1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime" is misleading. It emphasizes the million as cash.

Should've stuck to that formula, add prizes for extras (or to use to offset taxes on the cash, if all prized were taken).

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand the divorce was messy...

  • I remember when dan and lorranie were on this originally in 1987

  • I need some form of confirmation on this... I am pretty sure this is Laureen from the Press Your Luck Episode in Nov 84 with Adele and Alex (the Russian who wants Big American Money)

  • It's funny how the host was dragging to give the clues to these contestants. Almost like they didn't want to really payout a million bucks.

  • wow back then that was a shit load of money!

  • Still is, just worth a little less =P

  • Damn inflation. lol

  • no kidding!

  • Out of Sync...that's 1...2

  • Doh! That'll teach me to comment before watching. Awesome win for those two!

  • Man oh man, I miss this show! I used to watch it almost every night as a kid. I'll never forget the "stinger" or the sound effect associated with it. I never saw anyone take home the million, though.

  • it seems a lil fishy when he got the answer with only 2 letters

  • I guess it was the "O" in the word "Soothsayer" when he got the answer on the last second.

  • The audio's off-sync now!

  • When this show was on, and I did watch it, it was on at 11:30PM every night (rather odd time to watch it).

Really loved this show at the time.

  • I loved the show..I was the co-host and Jim Lange was great.

  • no way,

  • yes way

  • omg i remember this show

  • The guy looks like Ed Rooney from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

  • The whole time I was watching this, I was thinking the same thing.

  • Comment removed

  • wow...1.1 seconds left for the last answer!!

  • We're out of time, and zero seconds left, time is lost, and the couple wins all of the things that come to a start because the couple has a new baby. The confetti & streamers/balloons rains down on everyone.

  • wow

  • I bet the people in the booth were thinking "Did he just say soothsayer this early??? ... oh crap we're screwed if they get to the last one." *Cross's fingers*

    "AH CRAP!!!"

  • I meant to say Lurene. My bad.

But, they certainly deserve to be World Champions in my book.

  • Gregg Sheldon the guard--my dear friend REST in Peace

  • OMG when did he die?

  • @xtcBEBOP When did Gregg die?

  • wow!

  • Now, who could have predicted that!!!

  • I got two words to say for this couple:

    WORLD CHAMPIONS!!

    WORLD CHAMPIONS!!

    WORLD CHAMPIONS!!

Dan and Lurlene are THE WORLD CHAMPIONS!!

You thought I was gonna pull a Chase Utley, didn't you? I'm just kidding. Dan and Lurlene, YOU ARE THE WORLD CHAMPIONS!!

  • Laureen, not Lurene.

  • Chase Utley, you are the man!

  • money rain

  • Wife gets 'em all, til the randomly-guessing hubby nail the mil. Nuts.

Picturing the producers off-set seeing it tick down to like 5 seconds with two clues remaining: "Phew, got these clowns outta here, now we can --- OH, F**K!!!!"

  • @RetroBoyisBack LOL,,,I was think the same thing as the husban..soothsayer...Do i get a million also......that was funny as hell what u said..LOL

  • holy crap?

  • wow

  • .... WOW.

  • I like how his wife says "Is that like soothsayer?" and then the husband just sits there and says "Soothsayer" to almost every clue.

  • They won 10,000 $100 Bills.

  • 1986, or 1987?

  • 1986, it was the first $1,000,000 win of the season.

  • When in 1986?

  • I don't remember the actual airdate but I'm guessing it was in October or November '86.

  • When in November/October 1986?

  • I loved this theme. What airdate is this?

  • 1987.

  • When is October & November 1986?

  • BAHAHAHAHA...soothsayer...lol ridiculous

  • WHOA! Buzzer-beater! I actually thought they were going to miss the $1,000,000 toward the end!

  • I remember when this show came out! It was on WJBK, Channel 2, Detroit at 7:30pm. I always wanted to be on that show....but I was only 8 at the time!

I remember the original theme music. It had more of a dramatic feel to it, rather than the jazzed up version.

  • I was only four at the time and I had too wanted to be on that show. I actually liked the jazzy theme here but I prefered the first season set because it looked more dramitic and had a nighttime look to it.

  • What about in the summer of '86 did it move to mornings Stratman78?

  • wow

  • LOLLLLLLLLLLLLl hahahhahahhaha Ive been laughin like for 20 mins. thats the type of luck that u would never expect. its like the only word he had in mind since the timer started

  • fair play

  • Omg how the fuck did he get the last one right 0_o ....

  • he had said it prior, and when he saw time was running out, he knew a soothsayer was someone who predicts and threw it out with a second remaining! amazing!

  • Thanks. I didn't quite understand.

  • Classic

  • THAT'S CRAZY

  • OMFG THAT WAS EPIC....Biggest luck i have ever seen!

  • The second season bonus round shouldn't seem to be trifled with. The rules were the same but the changes were merely cosmetic; unessesary for one such as the recap of answers given up until than. The drama was there and I guess a split second timer was there to make it easier to judge; only nessesary for physical challenges I deem. The prize package being changed to an annuity was okay because you got all your money all at once but bad since some of it was prizes. This show I give 3 stars.

  • dude you sound like a real Hater!! FUck

  • When in 1986?

  • When in 1986?

  • holy crap

  • holy shit !

  • lol soothsayer $1,000,000 pulled straight from his ass

  • No, he had been saying it for almost every word.

  • thats so fucking ridiculous hahahhaha

  • THE LAST SECOND!

  • EPIC

  • thats fucking sick man

  • WOW!!!!!

  • wow, he got lucky there

  • haha that was crazy stuff!!!

  • LoL he was just waiting for Soothsayer to come up

  • He had a hunch they would use the word soothsayer and he kept guessing it over and over.

  • .5 seconds left on the clock!!

    damn

  • thay only won 1/3 of a 1,000,000 dollers

    2/3 go to taxes ;(

  • since when is anything 66% taxed?

  • Prize funds, donations , charity monies etc are all 0% tax idiot.

  • NOT true. At least in the US (and I speak from winning several "prize funds"). It's funny how the first to lay insults are always incorrect.

    It ain't 66%, but it's certainly not 0 either.

  • since when did i say i was talking about the us?

  • soothsayer omfg

  • hsjhsjshshshahhahaha how the fuck did he get soothsayer. lol. ive never heard of that shit!! hahahah

    they are so fucking lucky!

  • hahahahaha palmreader was after like 2 letters

  • LOL that was SO FREAKIN FUNNY...

  • After looking at a full episode on another video site, it was Jerome Shaw (Hollywood Squares, High Rollers) who directed $1MCOAL, not Joe Behar as I thought; Joe was still busy with General Hospital in between The All-New Let's Make A Deal and Fun House.

  • And later in the run, Joe Carolei took over as director.

  • omfg xD

  • Wow this is amazing, I knew this show existed. But everytime I asked someone if they remember this show, they just give me a weird look. I use to watch this in 4th grade, awesome!

  • Watch the full episode on Veoh.

  • LMFAO...they're going crazy for $1,000,000!!

  • Well, then when that John Carpenter won the million on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, they were wrong that it was the first time ever in game show history.

  • John Carpenter was the first to win 1,000,000 CASH. This couple won it in cash AND prizes.

  • 4 or 5 other couples won the all-cash version of the $1,000,000 in this show, but they don't beat John Carpenter to the punch, since they split their winnings, whilst John got his on his own, the HARD way!

  • I thought a total of 9 couples won the grand prize, and the money was an annuity. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • 9 couples all together. The first 4 won the all cash, the last 5 won the grand prize in cash and prizes. And yes! It's an annuity!

  • Carpenter was the first single contestant to win a million dollars. This show only had married couples competing.

  • Oh yeah and by "single" I mean he played the game by himself.

  • Which date of 1987 is it?

  • I meant "What month and day of 1987 is this?"

  • Audience: (cheers & applause)

    Confetti: Fall Shawn

    Host: Oh, the millionaire!!

1937: Little Ol' Bosko & the Cannibals

    1957: Silk Stockings

  • Wow. That was clutch.

  • Laureen looks familiar. I think that's the same Laureen who was on the 11/9/84 episode of Press Your Luck!!!

  • i saw this i was 4 yrs old

  • I remember this show, but I never saw this particular episode until now. WCNC-TV (formerly WPCQ-TV) carried the first season at 7:30 in the evening, but the later season it carried in the afternoon, while I was in high school.

  • WTF!!!!!!

    THAT;S BS.

    LUCK

  • Did Joseph Behar (Let's Make A Deal (original and 1984-86), Fun House, College Mad House, General Hospital) direct this show as well?

  • Well, the answer is in a videoclip of this game show's ending credits, if anyone has a clip of that.

  • A prophet is another name for a soothsayer.

  • The man said the sixth and last word "soothsayer" at eight-tenths of a second left. What a GREAT finish to win $1,000,000!

  • How! In! The! Name! Of! Motherfuck! Did! They DO THAT?! Holy SHIT! I didn't think they would pull it off!

  • wow outstanding

  • I was three years old when this show first came on. I liked the Stinger noise, heh.

That ending was pretty incredible. :D

  • So am I to believe that this is the only clip of this show floating around on the net? It's certainly the only one I've ever found...

  • This programme aired in the UK under the title All Clued Up which ran from 1987-1991 and was hosted by David Hamilton.

  • Wow; this kind of show aired in UK too? Did it award 1M pounds, or what? Of course 1M pounds is almost like 2M US dollars.

  • No it didn't the top prize was £1000 but the winning couple were then offered the chance to return the following week to play for £3000 if they won the main game.

  • something jsut occured to me: Dan looks like the principsl from Ferris Bueller's day off.

  • You know I thought the same thing. I'm sure it's a coincidence.

  • WHERE ARE THE BALLOONS?

  • They came down after Jim said goodbye and when the closing prize plugs began.

  • Man, that freakin' baby must watch this video a lot, now that it's like 20.

  • Man (LOL)!! I glad you posted this show. I was in middle school when I watched this. I like one season when the big pize was won. This one couple won the big money, sparks were flying. Some Pyrotechnology were used. That was so cool.

  • who hosted this?

  • Jim Lane hosted this show.

  • Lange

  • You mean Jim Lange!

  • this is exciting

  • i agree

  • In this dictionary, a "soothsayer" is a person who predicts the future by magical, intuitive, or more rational means.

  • I liked the first season more when it was just cash

  • Me too...too bad I couldn't watch it a lot, as I was in school plus WFMY in Greensboro NC aired it at noon (again, school time).

  • I watched this show in high school and thought it was so exciting, especially when a couple was going for the million.

  • I was in 9th-10th grade myself when it aired! (1986-87ish)

  • HOLY SHIT That was close! Awesome ending

  • C'mon man, I like game shows, but this is the ultimate in 80s cheese! These idiots who won are probably in a trailer by now. At least on the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire show there was SOME intelligence necessary.

  • Not trying to sound mad, but I don't think that's true. In the first season, winners got $40,000 a year until the $1,000,000 was reached, and in the second season was a $900,000 annuity with $100,000 in prizes, as shown here

  • What a bunch of crap! Ooops, he used the soothsayer answer they gave him on the wrong puzzle (even said oops), then answered the last puzzle with 1 second left. I fairly remember this program as a teenager and thought it was stupid then.

  • It wasn't stupid. It was what he thought was one of the answers, and it was the only shot he had at winning.

    Great million win!

  • AWESOME WIN!!! 5 Stars!

  • i found out that WTLV 12 in Jacksonville, Florida aired the show as I have a promo on one of those news potpourri DVDs. I also have the episode where Kim and George Brittain won $1,000,000.

I plan on posting the clip one day. Just don't have the time to right now.

  • Tell me when it's up by mail.

  • I found out that this show aired on KRON in my market...

  • Jackal? Jackal? Is it jackal? Jackal? Jackal? Is it jackal? Jackal?

  • ROTFLMAO!!!!!!! XD

  • now thats a buzzer beater if ive ever seen one

  • what is a clairvoyant BTW?

  • A clairvoyant is something like a psychic.

  • A total of 9 couples won the million in this show's history, counting this one.

  • Does anybody know what station in Cleveland aired this show? How about Chicago? If memory serves me correctly, this show aired on WJLA in Washington.

  • I just found out that this show aired on WJW-TV 8 in Cleveland. Still don't know what station in Chicago aired this show...

  • I have the episode where Kim and George Brittain win $1,000,000 and it included fireworks and confetti.

  • Upload it now.

  • With the number of times they said "soothsayer" in this clip (five times), they were either soothsayers themselves or were just obsessed with the word.

  • Anymore $1M Wins?

  • I have the one where Connie and Steve Rutenbar won $1,000,000 and were the first couple to do that. When I can, I will upload it onto Youtube.

  • Do it now.
