one of my favorite songs of all time!!! my band GREENHOUSE were so influenced by the Grapes that local papers here were calling us " the evil twins". I take that as the ultimate compliment. You guys are still one of the best bands and songwriters to ever come out of Canada or anywhere for that matter. Time for a huge reunion tour lads me thinks, long overdue.....luv glen royer
can't view this video - it's not working on my end while all other youtube video's have no problems. Alberta is the most corrupt area in Canada - justice- politics, police, media, medical, NON PROFITS are all completely corrupt
You are absolutely correct enialbsitruc! I've been listening to the northern pikes again. If Teenland were released today, I think it would find an audience. Or even better "Hopes Go Astray". Best Grapes of Wrath song is 'What was going through my head."
I remember buying their first album (Treehouse?) on tape from a girl in my french class for a hit of acid. She had drawn on the cover photo, but it will still a good deal. We both thought so...
Grapes of Wrath were a great CDN band. I know the lead singer Tom Hooper, a very nice fellow. Our daughter hangs out with one of his sons. He has lived on our island for years.
For me, this is their best tune. Reminds me so much of a lot of the early stuff by the Northern Pikes. Now there is a great underappreciated Canadian band from the 80's and early 90's.
A lot of hippyish, proto-shoegazer groups, from this era--Crash Vegas, Lava Hay, Plastercene Replicas, Tony Papa & the Theory, 13 Engines...and these guys. All great.
BTW: does anyone recall a group named 'The Front'? They had songs like "The Haunting" and "City in the Distance"...Boulevard are/were from Calgary, no?
Hip >still around Odds> still 'ere, 54-40 still here, skydiggers also, um, Canadian rock has a standard. Since Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings are still Kicking it! Including Gordon Lightfoot! There is a pattern! I'm jus sayin
dynamite kurdst..caught grapes of wrath at one of those mega-band lawn festival-drunk-fests they used to have all the time at molson park. nice beatlesque melodies..great tunes to toss a frisbee around ..thanks man
Ah, the good ol' CFNY (now Edge 102) Canada Day concerts at Molson Park. Saw the Grapes several times there. 54-40, Lava Hay, Crash Vegas, Skydiggers, Odds, Hip - all great memories from high school days.
Youtube, the last refuge for my 'Grapes of Wrath' fix. Wore out my cassette years ago, and can't find it on tape, vinyl, or CD......anywhere. Any ideas where I might get a copy?
Absolutely the most under-appreciated bands of the 80's, perhaps of all time. Artists just don't make this type of music anymore, and it's a crying shame.
Boulevard are the most underappreciated band of the 80's (Far From Over, Dream on, Never Give up). Google "Far from over Boulevard" and you'll see what i mean. The lead singer, David Forbes (The only American in the band, rest are from calgary, based from vancouver), is now a firefighter in Northwest Washington State, and they split up in the early 90's and looks like they won't get back together. I can't get their CD anywhere, on e-bay, amazon, or DVD stores! Crying shame!

Yeah, I saw Sarah open up for them in Saskatoon back in the 80's! Can you imagine that? These guys deserved a much better fate than what they got. Amazing musicians, song writers.
Yeah, their label, Netwerk, screwed all of these smaller bands over by taking chunks of their profits and pouring it into Sarah's career. I'm trying to locate other videos by Netwerk bands of the same era. Remember Waterwalk? "Turn your face away" and "Never Leaving Eden again"...
Benedictineacc!! Why write the same comments on 2 of these videos? Are you a parrot? Sorry, that you wouldn't want to relive these days. I would, they were some of the best times of my life. Cheers brother.
Sorry for repeating myself on the Grapes of Wrath videos. I had about the same thing to say with each one! This band was like a soundtrack of my life then. I love the good memories, but there is also too much pain. Sigh. If only I could have known then what I know now.
Oh my, this brings me back. Good days, but wouldn't want to live them again. Just memories, where they should stay. Nevertheless, thank you for posting one the greatest bands from that time in my life.

Canadian bands in general, have always been under-rated & underappreciated. Why? Just for the fact that we aren't Brit, 'merican, or Aussie.
