For example, snakes introduced to Islands have caused all the birds on those islands to become extinct - snakes bred out of control & birds had no defenses against them. The ratio of predators to prey remains constant in nature due to predators dying off when prey is in short supply. This natural balance is not happening when people feed cats. Cats breed out of control and kill everything.

@susan987654 I think people have become an invasive species. No natural predators anymore. They build cheap strip malls on the outskirts of towns only to abandon them in 10 years to build somewhere a little further out. They pollute & contaminate every place they go. The reason the pink headed duck went extinct was because of 2 reasons:

A) habitat loss

B) People tried to keep the duck in captivity. The problem, they never reproduced in captivity, so they went extinct.

I'm glad that there are reported sightings of this animal. It would be ashame if they went extinct.

people did not indisciminately shoot the parakeets. they were extreme agricultural pests, which led to their slaughter. they did gather to a fallen individual which made it easier to eliminate the offending flock. whole apple orhards were destoyed by the bird. was it a reason to slaughter them? no. it was a tragedy.

Anyone can make a "reason" for the extermination of any species. That doesn't make it legitimate. Maybe the reason for the baji dolphins extinction is that people though they were too cute to stand. Is that a "reason"? Yes, but that doesn't make it righ or anything more than indescriminately killing them.

@saltwaterebel Actually, people DID indiscriminately shoot the parakeets for sport and for their feathers, which were in high demand for hats. In fact, one very famous conservationist went to Florida to see the last remaining known flock of Carolina Parakeets and ended up shooting several because he said it was just too tempting.

Very well done video! And VERY true! the only thing is that 2 animals that are like these others were not there... the quagga, recently extinct :( and the prewalski's wild horse, which is critaccly endangered and is now barely making a comeback in the wild

The quagga went extinct over 100 years ago so it's not exactly recent but I agree it should be on the list.
