Thank you for posting this video. How can I ever complain about anything I don't have after seeing this clip. I am thankful for the roof over my head, for the well being of my family. A great reminder to those who live in areas that never see such devastation to be truly grateful.

i live in pittsburgh pa and last year a F3 tornado hit and i turned that plac upside down it was like a calm for 5 minutes then the fire sirens went off evrybody was helping each other my home a ripped of its foundation and we were in the cool celler i am happy i am sitting here still thank you God
Damn best wishes to all that were affected and hurt or killed in this tragedy. I hope that all works out for everyone and my thoughts are with you all :)
@boo101895 Tornadoes are generally not a problem in Florida. Most Florida Tornadoes are EF0-EF1 intensity and short lived. Most Tornadoes form in Florida during cold fronts, Summer "Sea Breeze" Fronts and with approaching Tropical Systems/Hurricanes.
I have never seen any Tornado sirens in Florida but some places may have them. I'm from Ohio and we have them everywhere.
I live in Alabama and was in one of the first tornadoes that early morning. I cried when I watched your video. I think I finally let the pent up feelings out and I feel better now. Thank you for an incredible video. I'm sharing it with all my friends on facebook!
My dads house was right in the path, RIP dad, and marcella wells my step mom, i still miss you guys everyday...i wish i could have seen you one last time dad..but i know ur in a better place now.
Beautiful video. Its kinda hard to depict the difference of the pics in this video...and the pics of Joplin, MO (my home state). Last year was a rough one. From a storm chasers point of view it was a very successful year...but from my other pooint of view...i woulda given up all the research, time, and everything else so this wouldnt have happened. I hope this year isnt as bad. The Midwest needs a break, bad.

i live in Cordova and this was a very scary day. Lucky me and my husband wasnt home. We were in jasper i was visiting my mom while they were at work and my husband and dad got home early and i said what are you doing home so early it was sunny. He said heather robert his boss told me to come on home he was in the f5 in 98 and he knows this gunna be a bad one. Bout that time it got dark and channel said tornado in tuscloosa coming our way we seen it touch down on tv then there goes power out
we walked outside and it was awful. it was pitch black i was running bck and forth trying to see if i seen cloud or something. I never ever seen one i think it was rain rapped. But i did see this stuff it was start coming down out of the sky like pieces of trees then all of a suddon it would fly to the left or right im like what the heck is going on . Then again and again it did it. then it was over and stuff just started flying down from the sky. I seen a gallon milk jug. my husbands
mom calls and says where are if ur in jasper stay there do not come to cordova she said we are in the basement and its filling with fog. She said the fog off the river is filling the basement. the tornado was pullin the fog or whtever off the river it was scary she said. Then we got off the phone and left anyways. got there on river road and on the way you could see where it came threw jasper there were trees and things on 78 highway we had to dodge. we got on river road and couldnt go any
farther so what we did was parked the truck started walking josh was going get his chainsaw to clear the road and everything we started looking around and he looked at me and said heather our house probably isnt there anymore. I just wanna tell you so you know. I started crying i knew before i got there it was gone. it was a nightmare. I never want to go threw that again. We didnt even get approved by fema,!
this really touches my heart especially seeing the damage in person was breathtaking my brother and his family lost everthing in this tornado but the still lived through it, and to be there helping out some of the families and seeing them still pulling bodies out will forever be in my heart and mind forever may God continue to bless the families that were affected by this tragedy...

I was on nightshift on that horrible Wednesday when the storms came through. The tornado siren went off and the plant shut down so we could take shelter. My friend Kevin's wife called him while we were in our shelter locations to tell him that she was terrified because it was getting really, really bad.The phone went dead just as he heard her screams as the F-4 that went through Shoal Creek made a direct hit on their mobile home. When they called the 'All Clear' he left to go home. (continued)
When he arrived home he found the bodies of his father, wife and seven year old daughter about 300 yards from where the two mobile home's had been. His father ran an assisted living home for the elderly and had 4 residents living with them in the second double wide.Twelve people died in Shoal Creek that night, seven of them were on Kevin's property. Please keep Kevin in your prayers as he is still going through an awful lot.

@Ghoulgamesh Oh so this is funny to you ? Well I didn't find being hunkered down for hours & hours funny. I didn't find it very funny when my power was out for a week. I didn't find anything funny about my best friend almost losing her house, or even worse, her life. I didn't find it funny when I went & helped the people who lost their homes TWO MILES from my house. But okay, if somehow you find this funny, go on & laugh. my son had just moved to Birmingham for a job and I was on the phone with him when it hit! thanks God he was spared! so sorry for all these poor people!
You did an incredible job making this video! It was devastating day for all of Alabama. My aunt's home was destroyed in New Market by an F2, my grandparent' home in Union Grove was spared by amazing grace!! Unfortunately my boyfriend's cousin was the only fatality in Cullman County. My eyes have witnessed more than my heart can bare. I pray for everyone who lost loved ones. I especially pray for the Hallmark family in Ruth AL. May God give that family peace. My prayers go to you ALL.
@Ghoulgamesh Funny? Really? 256 people died, thousands injured, no idea how many homes destroyed. Yeah, real funny. In thankful I live just south of Birmingham and didn't get hit.
I am praying for all of those who lost homes, friends, and loved ones. I am traveling in February or March of 2012. I will be traveling through Alabama.
I am shocked to have been so disconnected from the world during my time in Carson City, Nevada. I am a native of the South. I am currently in Las Vegas, ending my almost 2 year stay here in the west. This outbreak, and the Joplin Tornado occured during my last week in Northern Nevada, going through a hell of my own. That is nothing compared to what you all have been through. During my drive home to Charlotte NC, I will be treating an Alabama responder to lunch or dinner. It's the least I can do.
10/26/11- Thank you so much for this video. My elderly parents lost their home and in two days we will be moving them into their new home. It has been an exhausting year but your statement(s) are so true. First hand I witnessed neighbor helping neighbor. First hand and on the ground I saw how real Americans act in the face of tragedy. God Bless You!
Hi , I am Chuck from Tullahoma , Tenn. I made a You-tube video for a late mothers day gift after we lost 2 friends in Phil Cambell April 2011. My family is from Russiville Ala. In 2010 , I had a suggestion documented on how to PREVENT a tornado from touching the ground by a method that had not been thought of before. My approach is totally out of the box. When the Wright brothers wanted to fly for the 1st time, They were not trying to built an 747 airliner. STOPPING A TORNADO -- You tube vid
I go to my gymnastics training center and me and my two other friends we bought a big tub and we had people bring like cloths for little kids a adults and in fact everyone we loved alabama its just so sad how that pic when the old lady was holding the little kids in I blanket to keep warm I cried as usually it was just so sad
i live in alabama and i was so lucky i was very cose to it but some werent so lucky i saw some of the damages it was very very sad to look at gob bless everyone who were in the tornado!!
I made this for the people of Phil Cambell And Russelville Ala. ..... STOPPING A TORNADO- = AIRBORNE M.A.S.E.R. +C.F.D------- YOU TUBE VIDEO.--------- Preventing a tornado from touching the ground
If I could id love to go down and help out even if thats talking to people showing someone cares for them. I hope Obama is sitting in his chair figuring out a way to help. I hope everyone in Alabama and their neighboring states are all good an ok.
this day is printed in my mind forever. I live in Meridianville, Alabama. I live off of Meridianville Bottom Road on Lewis Tate Road. We had a tornado touched down 3 houses down from us. When me, my mom, my basset hound Baxter, and my cat Jupiter came out of the shelter We went outside we were shocked. Our fence was nearly torn down, a tree in our front yard spilt in two, had things that were in the backyard land in the front yard.
Im a 5 time combat 37 yo Marine, I lived in Harvest, And god help me I have never fought a war as hard as I did that day to keep my family alive as my house fell in on us, We won, we lived, and to the ones in my nieghborhood I could help I thank god for the strenth, and to the ones I couldnt. Im sorry, we tried and god bless you! Semperfi
I live in Bama and I had tornadoes flying all around me but I was one of the lucky ones..... One town 5 minutes from my house was leveled, there is nothing left accept rubble or atleast the day after it was but this is an amazing job on this slideshow. I am working on one myself with the same song and most of the pictures that are in mine or in your so..... I will send you a link to mine and tell me what you think
How could 3 people dislike this? I just don't understand. I was one of the lucky ones, I guess. None of my family was hurt, and I have them in Birmingham, Cullman, and in Huntsville. I cried watching this video, and the two pictures that stuck me the most were at 1:00 and 1:11. The grandmother holding the two children, and the little girl standing by the 5 graves. Thank you for such a moving tribute to the perseverance of people, and to how we can all come together in times of need!
@metallicaxoxo5555 thank you so much for your help it it is very much appreciated i live in birmingham alabama and was affected by the storm so for someone to help it means alot
i was one of the lucky ones that did not lose everything and im greatfull for that..me and my family have been around helping. seeing what everybody has lost breaks my heart. when your going through all the rubbel helping save anything possible it makes you wanna break down and cry. to this day there still having to rebuild houses. this was a journey of 10,0000 miles for some people.GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
love this video!!! there is also a song written by blaine cantrell and john crosslin that live in northwest alabama..they volunteered their time to help and felt so moved by what they saw they penned this song..please watch..its a message of hope for ALL tornodo victims and a tribute to how people came together so fast to help! great job!
just type in "The Day The Sky Fell Down" or blaine or johns name..
I do not do be cruel, but are you on crack or something. This took place on April 27th 2011. All of us in Birmingham went for cover went this F5 tornado went through. God Bless.
I live in Harvest AL. im not sure if there were any photos of around my area or not but we left and got out about 5 mins b4 it hit cuz there was no power the only reason we got out in time was because we could hear it coming it wasnt like a normal twister either it didnt sound like a train it sounded like a jumbo jet fly right past us by time we actually started leaving there was already debris pelting our house and vehicles God Bless all those survivors and all those died and all rescue crews
You did a beautiful job!! I live in Rainsville and we had so much destruction that nobody talks about or shows...not sure if you have any photos in your video from here but thanks so much for showing support and your love for our great state!
@LauraRiley1 Thanks so much, Laura! Not sure where each and every photo came from, but most were likely to have been the initial images that were posted at the time, such as Tuscaloosa, Cullman, Pratt City, etc. Others came out shortly after I made the video that I hadn't seen, of course, but would have been ideal for showing the damage that was suffered. Thanks for the comment! :)
@tbgeno21 Some of those were around North Georgia, and Chattanooga area. I can identify some if you want to know. Like tbgeno21, you did a great job on the video. It wasn't as bad as Tuscaloosa, or Pleasant Grove here.... Seeing it in person is so much more heart breaking then seeing a picture. And for anyone reading this comment, please give to the American Red Cross.
it was very sobering,as it passed through, knowing i and my children would not have survived a direct hit from that monster tornado.i am thankful and i feel for the survivors of this storm
I'm from Cullman and live about a half mile south from where the tornado passed through downtown I stood in the parking lot at my job, about 200 yards away from it as it passed, watching. I walked through town less than half an hour after it happened. I couldn't believe what I saw. What's more is that cleanup had already started. It's hard to imagine what those who lost everything went through. It was nice to see everyone helping one another. God bless everyone affected and those who helped.
We were 3 miles from the tornado as it passed north of Birmingham. We saw it go by and all I could think of was those in it's path and if it had come 3 miles further south, I would possibly not be writing this. God bless those that had to endure it.
It's amazing to see how the citizens of the entire state of Alabama pulled together to help each other out. And I'm all for positive thinking, so I am going to say that Cullman and the other counties affected by the tornadoes will be stronger and even more beautiful than ever.
These are amazing images and this is the perfect song to set them to. As horrible a tragedy as this is, I feel SO blessed to live in AL. We have the most generous people with the biggest hearts. There is nowhere else I would rather call home. Thank you to everyone who continues to pray and raise supplies and money...this will take a very long time to recover from.
This video gets me everytime I watch it, at my school we're raising money for Red Cross to go to all the people in Alabama, I hope we get all lot, these people deserve it. They've been through so much
About the rescue worker with the child in the back of a pick up. The child was a little boy and yes he survived, they are from Phil Cambpell, along with Hackelburg, got hit by an EF5 tornado. Both towns are still complete devastation.

STOPPING A TORNADO -- You tube vid

this day is printed in my mind forever.

MrComCom1 8 months ago
You did a beautiful job!! I live in Rainsville and we had so much destruction that nobody talks about or shows...not sure if you have any photos in your video from here but thanks so much for showing support and your love for our great state!
LauraRiley1 8 months ago
@LauraRiley1 Thanks so much, Laura! Not sure where each and every photo came from, but most were likely to have been the initial images that were posted at the time, such as Tuscaloosa, Cullman, Pratt City, etc. Others came out shortly after I made the video that I hadn't seen, of course, but would have been ideal for showing the damage that was suffered. Thanks for the comment! :)
tbgeno21 8 months ago
@tbgeno21 Some of those were around North Georgia, and Chattanooga area. I can identify some if you want to know. Like tbgeno21, you did a great job on the video. It wasn't as bad as Tuscaloosa, or Pleasant Grove here.... Seeing it in person is so much more heart breaking then seeing a picture. And for anyone reading this comment, please give to the American Red Cross.
