  • 5 yrs later since this video was made...where is this Jazzmaster today? Still in good shape?

  • @musicmatty67

This is the JM I use the most, as you can see on my channel this is the versatilest JM I have, even with hi Distorsion it sounds great.

  • @Jazzmaster11 Agreed...Sounds Great on anything in my opinion!

  • SWEET

  • sick!

  • Absolutely perfect!

  • Show Off! LOL....nice...

  • are any of these for sale?

  • nice playing!

  • nice sound this jm :)

  • that sounds so nice. great job man

  • Finally having one coming in, I'd like your opinion about the CIJ stock pickups and your favorite bridge solution. Will a mustang bridge work good enough, have you ever tried a tune-o-matic and does a buzzstop ruin the "classic" Jazzmaster sound?

After watching a lot of your vids, I figured you were the right man to ask. Great playing all along, by the way!

  • @SatanicYakuza

    Hi,

It's simply a JM66B and OCR color, nothing else!

  • ur string bending is spot on. nice feel. Thats the toughest part for most ppl covering david gilmour leads..

  • QUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE BIEN QUE TOCASSSSSSSSSSS, SOYNUEVO EN YOUTUBE TE GUSTA MI GUITAR SOLO? ESPERO QUE SI♥

    SALUDOS

  • There's no sound quite like a Jazzmaster, i like jaguars but jazzmasters take the prize

  • nice job dude and awesome guitar

  • you got the Gilmour double bend down really well. Nice job

  • i farted

  • Nice guitar!

    Pretty cool..

    I liked it!

  • great, nice tone ! what amp are you using and are you using a compressor ?

  • fuck yea

  • very nice

  • fuck yea

  • exelent job

  • bad ass dude

  • awesome.I love this guitar

  • cool inlays

  • good job

  • guys, bending isn't that tough. srv did 5 fret bends with .13s tuned a half step down on a strat.

anyways. great videos dude, i want a jazzmaster.

  • good fer him!

  • cij jazzmaster, but heavily modded

    lollar pickups?

    probs 8 guage strings :o

jazzmasters bridge+trem has lowe tension, but i still think that would be really hard with 9s

  • I use Elixir 10/46 gauge strings. IMO 8 or 9 is too light for the Jazzmaster.

  • Question...do you like this Japan 66 RI stock better or the one you have that's Lake Placid Blue I think with the Seymour Duncan Antiquity IIs in it? I'm shopping and would like your opinion. Thx.

  • yeah man. anything below tens destroys tone on jazzys. Ive got .11s on the high E and .48s on the low. Great job by the way. On the solo did you dial that tone knob down a little or did you go all out?

  • @MrElationRx

    Hi!

    tone pot is full open.

  • is this a japan reissue or a usa one

also do you know if the japan ones are good quality if Ichange the pickups?

  • excelent!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how did u not snap the string at 0:40?!?!?! that bend must have pushed the notes like 4-5 frets higher

  • he must use 0.9 strings, without too much tension.

    great tone!

  • ernie ball super slinkys perhaps

  • Wow those may have been the biggest bends I have ever seen

  • apparently you don't watch very many vids of hendrix live. hes gotten high e all the way up to the top of the neck :) excellent cover btw

  • Comment removed

  • dude your guitar si so Damm Godd calibrated!! look those BENDS!!! THE GO TO THE SKY!!!

  • ya thats intense. im thinking about getting a jazzmaster. already own a couple strats, the jazz is just really tempting :P

  • @topicrass and the most important topicrass, they are precise

  • Nice

  • very good! I love it

  • super, awesome... keep going dude !

  • what's with your fretboard? i'm sure someone has already asked this question but i can't be bothered going back through all the comments.

  • amazing video to watch, you really are an awesome guitarist dude

  • nice pick ups

  • I love the way the jazzmaster sounds. =]

  • nice :D!!!!!!

  • very nice,what strings you use,what size?

i use d'addario XL but i used to use cromes but i couldn't bend up notes proply,eg david gilmour solos.

    simon :)

  • I don't know why, but gibsons just seem like crap to me. Guess its because the newer models have poor quality. Id much rather that crazy jazzmaster than a les paul. Gibson's been slacking quality wise.

  • agreed. custom shop and reissues are still pure class though.

  • Nice job. I read somewhere that Gilmour used a Les Paul for that famous solo.

  • I've always wanted to try a Jazzmaster. They're so pleasant sounding.

  • Get one. A few years ago my dad gave me his old original 57' Jazzmaster, plain ash finish, reddish pick guard, and... I have to say. It beats the hell out of my Les Paul.

  • 0_0 OMG F***ING SICK

  • nice playing nice soud!

  • awesome guitar

    awesome playing....

  • what kind of jazzmaster is that?? Block inlays?

  • Has the album playing, so I can't properly hear the sound.

  • it's a backtrack without the guitar part...

  • And it still overshadows the sound.

  • if you can't listen the sound of such a great guitar you should work your hearing

  • Dude, I got this guitar today. I know all about the sound. I was bitching at him in other videos about him not properly displaying the clean tone.

And I'm a guitarist, hearing isn't an issue. We all lose it after a while. At least I can type.

  • sounds ur strings r too low

screw up the bridge u will got better tone

    believe me

  • that happens with mosts of the jazzmasters, jaguars don't have that problem

  • Is this a reissue model?

I've never seen the CBS style bindings and inlays on a reissue.

Also, how have you set this up to do such big bends? Mine has really high action but still frets out beyond set twelve.

  • This a CIJ JM66B.

7.25 radius needs an excellent truss rod, nut and frets set up (and sometimes a neck shim)

If everything is well balanced you can play bid bends with a modarate action.

  • OK, I didn't know they made those. Mine is the '62. After seeing this vid, I decided to dig it out and record a few tunes on it.

I've sent you a video response of one of the songs.

  • I think these are the middle sized marshall... maybe not...

  • whats kind of amp are you using?

  • omg this is simply an amazing guitar...

  • impressing playing, awesome job dude!

  • freaking awesome playing

  • Very well !

You have nice feeling...5 stars from me, mate !

  • such nice tone & playing dude, you rule.

  • NICE PLAYIN MAN

  • its the 66 model with block inlays. Ive got the 62 one with dot inlays. Love the jazzmaster =) Gonna get some SD antique 2 pups soon. Nice playing too!

  • Geez dude,

some people apparently think its the "exact model".... maybe it's the exact player..

    way to go

  • you play well. :)

  • the exact name of this guitar ? ...

  • Fender Jazzmaster. :P

  • great guitar...how much for it??

    nice playin too

  • No dude, I need the exact name, not Brand/Model name, exact name!

  • you mean the reference?

    JM66B OCR

  • What is the exact name of this guitar?

  • Its COOL

  • Very good!!!

  • GOOD !

  • LOVE the tone!!!! thanks for the upload

  • WOW.... SORRY YOUR VIDEO ATTRACTED SUCH A GIBSON vs. FENDER BRAWL.... ISN'T THIS TOPIC DEAD YET?

anyways, How are the lollar pickups? I just picked up a AVRI jazzmaster and the pickups are decent. since the JM is already Punchy..... any hard playing sounds like a miniature SONIC BOOM!!!!!

Right now.... I am considering the Curtis Novak pickups...

  • i think fenders are good if you wanna play clean rock or funk. if you wanna go for some overdrive or sweet solos, the gibson is a better choice. jazzmasters are awesome

  • nice tone american or japanese? the guitar i mean

  • very nice playing! lovely guitar:)

    I have a japanese jazzmaster.

what amp do you play on?

  • Nice ! :)

  • Nice Jazzmaster...nice playin' ..makes me wanna keep my Custom Shop...

  • im thinking about getting one of these because my bro in law had one and it sounded awesome. how are they for tapping?

  • After all these people bitch at you...

Great job man! Great playing, tone and vibrato on those notes! Don't have a Jazz, but you may have just convinced me to check 'em out!

    Keep the videos coming.

  • im looking at buying a new guitar but cant decide between a fender telecaster or a jazzmaster.

i like the sound of the telecaster but i prefer the look and feel of the jazzmaster.

    which would you recommend?

  • Both are such great guitars, I can't answer cause it depends on your desire and ears!

The jazzmaster have a wider specter, soft and hot or twangy and powerfull.

The telecaster is the punchiest guitar ever with a trebelfull well balanced sound.

  • Wow that's such a hard decision... maybe plan to get one of each and see which one you use more?

  • the tele has more "mojo"

the jazzmaster has a whammy bar

in the meantime jazzmaster is so unique....check out the japanese guy "char". you can find some on youtube

  • Jazzmaster, way cooler guitar, alot of people have telecasters but not many have the jazzmaster.

  • I've never tried to fuck a guitar, is it funny?

  • Clever answer;)I only wanted to say that I prefer Gibson t(o Fender cause Fenders all types) sound too slick and transparent for me. They lack that low, angry growl that Gibsons have. Sorry if you feel offended;) I hope you don't;)

  • You cant beat a tele's bite though. Thats something iv never heard any guiatar other than a tele make, its beautiful.

  • No I'm not.

  • Yes you are, dick head. You felt slightly guilty for saying something so fucking stupid. Fenders sound like that on a clean channel, the only difference between them in the thickness of sound is another coil in the pickups. Fenders are brilliant for playing songs where the lead singer plays a Fender. That doesn't mean you can just class them all like that, and some of them do have two coils anyway. It certainly doesn't mean you should say "fuck Fender" so think before you speak.

  • that's rigth. for example, since our friend here plays floyd: The gilmour sound IS the fender sound and even when he had a gibson guitar he had one with P90 (Single coiled). Saying Fuck fender would be like saying fuck guitars because without fender solid bodied guitars wouldn't exist the way they do. Sure Lester polfus (Known as Les Paul) came up with it at the same time but gibson hated the idea until fender made a sucess with the tele....

  • sounds nice!

  • dude, they have this feel...like, so smooth and cool to play. i love strats, but jazzys ftw. it is a good guitar. it requires a little modification, but after that, it's your baby. you can't put it down.

  • Don't be sorry, it's simply your opinion.

  • Wow, i just noticed that fretboard. Very unusual. But classy in a majestic kinda way.

  • wow that was very nice. your guitar is a beauty and your tone matches that. nice playing and improv.

  • only a few guitars use that inlay

  • All CBS Jaguar and Jazzmaster. But I understand your analogy with gibson neck.

  • Awesome sound.

I hate the Gibson-like fretboard. I hate it so bad. It's so "un-fender"

  • Well, this kind of fretboard is used by fender since 1966.

  • Hey,Ive noticed that you are a huge Jazzmaster player, and Ive been thinking of getting a Squire JagMaster,MIJ series, and I really want it to be a Jaguar Jazzmaster combo, and I want a bright, mellow pickup sound for the neck pickup, would you recomend I put a Jazzmaster soapbar in it?

  • don't get one, they sound like a mustang mixed with a strat and a jag. not that i don't like the sound, but it's not what you're looking for. trust me.

  • A jazzmaster sounds like a jazzmaster, your mustang-jag-strat mixed is a non sense.

  • ..he's an idiot Jazz11, doesn't know the 1st thing about guitars from the comment he made; he needs to clean his ears out! How does he know what 'sound' your looking for.. I own all 4 Fender models; Strat, Tele, Jazz & Mustang..they don't all sound alike!

  • i was talking about jagmasters. youtube was receiving maintenance at the time, so my comment is in the wrong place.

  • i didn't say that... :/ wtf...i never said this!

I CALL SHENANIGANS! i love jazzmasters. i'd never say that kind of idiocy.

  • if you get it, replace the pickups and everything. i would recommend a CIJ Jazzmaster or Jag, because they're better quality.

  • I never get tired of watching your vids... :)

    -RumorsOFsurF

  • thanks nolan, I'm waiting for yours!

  • As soon as I get a proper camera that records decent audio!

  • well done!

  • you totally nailed the tone on that song. awesome...

  • you have to buy a seperate

  • what's a seperate?

  • where do you get these jazzmasters with block inlays? I can't find 'em anywhere!!!!

  • model JM66B from Fender Japan.

  • Thats Totally Badass!

    Right On!

  • dude you play just like me!

your pinky is tucked in until you need it

its a habit im trying to get over, but its not too serious

  • Ugh! I hope I forget your comment soon, or else ALL I'll be thinking about while playing will be whether my pinky is tucked in or not! ;-)

    Oh man...

Nice guitar, sound and vid by the way...

  • haha its really no big deal

i think about it alot too..

and i realize it seems impossible to play any other way

    thanks though

  • this is my new account by the way

  • so cool!

what do you think about japanese jazzmaster??

how are differ FJ JM66-88/FJ JM66-106

    only binding, position mark??

  • you wouldn't mind me borrowing one of those do you? :P

  • I've got a jazzmaster and I play new wave and post punk....great, great tone. And no rumors.

Fantastic. In my opinion better than the les paul.

  • Very nice! jazzmasters are underrated in my book. They're good for more than just punk.

  • It's simply a guitar with her caracteristics :

A lot of dynamics, powerfuller and hotter than a strat, less precise and more microphonic.

  • what do you mean, 'less precise' ?

  • In distorsion the jazzmaster sounds fatter and thicker than a strat.

  • amazing, and very beautiful guitar

    5 stars! no doubt

  • WOW!

  • Im addicted to this video.. =)

  • Beautiful Guitar....Beautiful playing to go with it 5 stars from me...Well done :D

    Tom

  • Has Fender ever used a neck through or set neck? Just wondering.

  • awesome

  • f'ing love this solo!!!! :D:D:D

  • This is the PERFECT TONE !!!

    jazzmaster power !!!!

    very nice job man !

  • this is the perfect proof that you don't need heavy distortion to 'rock out'.

this has way more groove and soul than playing metal with gain at full just to sound 'rock'.

    very good sound and guitar.

what amp are you using there mate ?

  • Thanks,

    Fender Twin.

  • I never saw one with that kind of fretboard looks awesome

  • perfect groove

  • nice playing. nice peace.

  • nice,

  • you rock my friend

  • Did you guys know that Jazzmaster11 was the original lead guitarist for Pink Floyd? haha well he definitely could be!

  • perfect!

  • Very Nice
