  • Not just the fighting and flying I enjoyed of Starlancer, but also all the little extra tidbits the developers added to make it 'realistic'. You had a room, a mission briefing where you actually walked into. Soldiers saluted you when walked down the hallway, all of those made Starlancer something truly memorable. Go Tigers!

  • When did this game come out? The graphics are impressive for being this old

  • they should have made star lancer 2 and then free lancer...

  • Starlancer is older than Freelancer, but way better. It's linear but fun to play and it has style. Good music, missions, voice acting, hint of a story or emotions now and then. I can't believe they were able to put that much in a simple space simulator. Always have a good time playing this game, brings cool memories

  • Goddamn it I loved this game. Allow the fact that the npc's screamers homed used to really annoy me

  • Shoot ahead of the target!

  • i miss this game, too bad i can't get it working in Windows 7. :(

    Freelancer works flawless, tho.

  • pero esto corre hasta en un microondas !!!!!! excelente juego !!!!!

  • I remember Starlancer very fondly. Perhaps the very best flight sim I have every played

  • This game was great....Nothing was better than this one...i wish starlancer 2 would come up some time

  • god this game brings back memories. When I got this game I was still kinda young like 9 or 10 when it came out. I first though that we were fighting aliens but turns out there just Russians. haha. I think I am going to go f8ind this somewhere. P.S. I need a flight stick.

  • Damn I miss this game .... old times are gone ... only call of duties lie ahead ...

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO D:

  • Played the HELL out of this game. I missed it. Can you please link me to an emulator? Favorite line from this entire game is "See you in Hell, Pilot" as their ship was being ended. Also hated ejecting and being picked up by the enemy mothership and seeing the torturer walk through that light =/

  • is this a littlebit the same like Freelancer?

  • @matthewgroen i only have freelancer and it looks nothing like it :3 the only similarities is the story

  • @matthewgroen this is a prequel to freelancer, or that freelancer is sequel. its made by same guys and freelancer continues the story of this.

  • @JURPO90 But which was made first? Starlancer actually seems to look nicer, and has better music...

  • @DGneoseeker1 starlancer was released 1999 or 2000, cant remember the year i got it, and freelancer 2003. so freelancer is younger game, but i like starlancer more, i have kind of nostalgic value to that game.

  • Best spacesime ever!

If anyone wana play online please PM me.

I cant find where to play online :(

  • I have the original cd of this game.

  • Hey, I'm looking for a wingman in Starlancer, to go through the entire campaign.

    Anyone interested?

  • i miss this game... wish they make a new version of it...

  • if u guys liked that game u shud try freespace

  • @RichyWow And if you like Freespace you should try Freespace 2 and its many mods ;)

  • WOW this game looks really good. happy i found this. i love joystick games but I can't really find any that are that entertaining anymore. the commentary seems kinda annoying but i'm def. grabbin' this game.

  • Oh and a Liberty Gunboat , that thing was a beast!

  • You gotta learn to engine kill + drift. The other key is aiming for the small red reticule in front of the enemy ship - it's set-up directionally, so you'll be able to adjust more quickly as the enemy ship changes direction. I played Freelancer Discovery for a couple months, a few months ago. It was pretty sweet. I had an Advanced Train, Mining Ship, Liberty Bomber, and a pirate ship... Pretty sweet game.

  • wait a sec i thought humanity coulden't cloak untell it was intrused to Rheinland by the remaining nomads?

  • you're a good shot man!!!

  • Nice to see other Starlancer fans. It always seemed to go under the radar, with the hype for Freelancer and it not being a "Wing Commander" game. I loved it every bit as much as Wing Commander, though. That German Ace was awesome.

  • @Stigmatainmypants

Freespace 2 took most of the credit from fans but Starlancer was more realistic to me and felt better.

If you haven't tried it yet, download 'Wing Commander Standoff'.

Its free but VERY nice and looks great. Theres vids on Youtube so check it out.

  • @imperialpod Thanks, Imperial. Actually i JUST downloaded Standoff last week! It has been fun, so far.

And not that Freespace 2 wasn't a good game (it was, though i really hate how it ended with a cliffhanger that'll never be resolved).. But i have to agree Starlancer just had something to it that gave it the edge.

  • You do understand how much I love you for putting this up right? I loved this game! This and Wing Commander were my all time favorties! Kudos to you sir!

  • Man Starlancer was such a kick ass game! Some dev studio needs to do something like this again but with Dx10/11 :D

  • damn this is probably one of my favorite games of all time...it felt so good playing it. u could type so many ship commands it felt like flying a real starfighter :)

games had so much soul back then..

  • @Soul5tream

Agreed, its possibly the best feeling space combat game ever. The sounds were booming and the lasers and cockpits were heavy and felt real.

    Shame Chris Roberts went crap.

ps. Try out Wing Commander Standoff if you haven't already, its well worth it and free.

  • I've had this game for al ong time. Never thought it end up on Youtube. Made full rank, I did.

  • freelancer

  • no: this is starlancer. the forerunner of freelancer

  • this s great

  • i actually managed to take out the black guard on the first mission, you can shoot him while hes still cloaked ^^

  • @obamabinbaben7772 Yep, its real easy taking the first basilisk out. Just put some screamers up his tail pipe:D

  • @obamabinbaben7772

It's so satisfying to destroy that ship. I restart the mission rather than let him get away.

  • i take it that starlancer is a prelude to Freelancer?(i.e. Freelancer is the sequel?)

also noticed how both games have the same type of first mission

  • Yes, Freelancer is the sequel to Starlancer.

  • is there any way where i can get this on my computer? i wanna play it!

  • @russXhunter Yea it is indeed.

  • @russXhunter starlancer must be the alliance vs coalition war!

  • The Grendel blows, it doesn't even have auto target, you have to fire at them MANUALLY, which, if you play with the keyboard, is a NIGHTMARE.

  • Damn I want to play this, let the X52 Pro do its magic.

  • I loved this game on the pc

  • I just reinstalled it :) still a great game!

After I'm through i guess the Freelancer-DVD is about to be used again ;)

But why'd you let the cloaked sucker run?

  • this video game was amazing. I just couldn't stop to play with it even if I knew all the missions like my pocket. Tigers, ready to jump off? Let's go!!! With the song when you won... Just great.

  • Bring back memories. Keep watching!

  • 1:37 lol rheinland space

    -freelancer-

  • i remember play this when i was little and killing the cloaking guy first time, it was so amazing all the cahracters in games calling me awsome

  • I played FL then SL. Whats funny is I had never heard of SL.. about 6 years ago my grandma and I went to a store called BigLots and she saw it on the shelf for like $5 so we bought it, and it turned out to be one of my favorite games ever. Pretty sick imo

  • she found starlancer for 6? awesome, big lots is a great store, that has great deals on pc games, and dvd games, i picked up freelancer, at sams club last year i think, for 20, was glad to see it there, and grabbed it...

  • This looks pretty good, especially considering it's age. Is this a modded version or the original? If a mod, which one? Thanks, I'm on the lookout for this and Freelancer.

  • nop its an old and good game...

  • sooooooooooooooooo many memories

  • Woah! I remember this game. I used to play it when I was a kid. I can't seem to find it anywhere now though. :( But great game. :)

  • i lost my original discs of this game so i downloaded it :)

  • Great game but wth learn to aim ;P

  • I just found my Dreamcast and this game! I haven't played since I was 6 or 7! I love this game, great vid too!

lol " 360 roll and I put 4 screamers in his tailpipe!" love it

  • and the best thing is this game runs perfectly on vista! fooking love it! my second fav game of all time behind speedball 2 on the amiga 500 or dosbox

  • I FINALLY FOUND THIS GAME.

Oh my god. After two years, I've FINALLY found this game again. This and freespace have been my favorite shooter's ever. Great stories, but for some reason I couldn't ever find this game to come back to, untill now. Wow. These wingmen sure bring back memories. :D

  • I saw this in a gamestop still in factory package....why did I not buy it?

  • I don't know. Go back and get it right now. Quickly, they may still be open. :P

  • this was 5 years ago, I was still searching for a copy of FreeSpace 2 and HomeWorld cataclysm.

  • A few questions:

What system were you fighting in,

and what other systems does this game come from?

BTW, nice accuracy, I wouldn't mind Dogfighting You.

  • I have a Core 2 Duo 3Ghz with 2GB RAM and a 8800GT 512 running XP.

  • @speedbump10 dude isnt using crusader in first mission a disadvantage...i suggest predator...

  • @neverwas70 The Crusader has really good armor and lots of weapons so that's why I use it only in this mission. It's built like a tank and unfortunately handles like one too.

  • not bad but its best to use your guns they may not be as affective as missles but they have a better firing rate

  • Oh man, great game. GREAT game!!

  • Best game i played on dream cast, and i still have it In perfect condition.

  • This game is a sacred game to the Gord.

  • My fav game

  • What about Freelancer?

  • Freelancer does not support a joystick so it is not near as much fun.

  • @speedbump10 Can you please tell me, if one can play Starlance with a mouse like in Freelancer?

  • @rbaleksandar Yes, you can fly with a mouse.

  • @speedbump10 Thanks a lot. :)

  • @rbaleksandar yeah but why would you want to play with a gay mouse.

  • @Warpath2198 Well, first I didn't know that the plastic mouse had sex not to mention any kind of strange sexual orientation. :D Second - since I have a notebook and move here and there, I'm not always able to take my joystick with me. :P I agree of course that it's much more fun to poke the stick in your hand. *giggle*

  • @Piolet231 it's a shitty game

  • yes , you can kill it but it hides and its difficult cause u dont have much time to kill him , but certanly is possible to kiil the basilisk , i did it :D

  • In the Dreamcast version, you can position yourself behind the Tempest so when the basilisk attacks, you can lock on to him quicker. I use the Naginata, because it offers rapid fire. You got to be quick! Wow, on the Dreamcast version, you can not request permission to land. Hmm, Cool!

  • no he missed him you can take it out in pc version ı did it every time i play

  • Your not gonna kill that specific one anyway, he simply bugs out after a couple of shots, anyway, i love the jump sequence, you charge up and then, boom, spark, zoooooooooom. :D

  • why didn't you kill the basilisk? or does the computer version not allow that. What difficulty are you playing on?
