  • this is lie . i can not install exploer broswer in cent os

  • I want to become pilot. I use linux.

  • swallowing cinnamon is impossible with or without Linux.

  • Hey guys check what OS supercomputers run: top500.org, click on every single computer on the left bar on that page.

  • GNU rulez!

  • TUX IS AWESUM!

  • I'm a mac user but my dell has ubuntu. windows is poop.

  • That is the BEST usage of the BBC april fool's joke that I have EVER seen. Nice job. At the end you should show Tux for a second or two.

  • Прыщеёбы не нужны.

  • O termo "comercial de Linux" na descrição do vídeo não é adequado pois o vídeo não submete a nada relativo a comércio. Melhor seria utilizar "Divulgação de Linux".

  • knowing that most TVs now days run Linux... im afraid it will fly away.

  • the people who dislike this must love windows and there blue screens!

  • penguins won't fly......... unless Linux ;-)

  • Well done, Linux!

  • Uno de los comerciales mas lindos que vi sobre Linux ..

  • Uno de los comerciales mas lindos que vi sobre Linux..

  • ha ha

  • I bet this was edited on a Mac :D

  • @olli2591 why? when all the good video-editing software is on linux? ;)

  • @tj00139 Tell me one professionally used Linux editing software. Only ONE! :P

Why isn't every professional using it, if it is so good and for free?

  • @olli2591 most movies are actually made with linux software..... so....... alot would be the answer to ur question..... do i get a cookie now?

  • @olli2591 You can run Photoshop and Fireworks on Linux operating system. Simply use Wine and that's it. But if you mean GNU editing software - there is currently only Gimp, but is not really for professionals. I really don't understand you - what has "editing software" to do with operating system like Linux??

  • @zemersEU Performance with wine is awful. Even if you use Crossover it's nothing like an original Win.

I specially meant movie editing - it has to do with Linux, because there simply is no professional software like that for Linux. So it's useless for the whole creative industry.

  • @olli2591 True, true, but that's not true: "So it's useless for the whole creative industry." - You think big Hollywood producers use Windows? Give me a break. It's always a Linux - not because it would be somehow magically superior, but because you can easily adapt it you your needs - and if that need is 5000 processors so be it - just take a look what most of the super computers use -> check top500.org

  • @zemersEU They use Macs all over the line. But at the end they sometimes use Linux for the rendering, that's all.

  • @olli2591 Sorry but thats just not true, I have seen enough studios run maya, softimage, nuke or davinci on linux.

  • @tj00139

On youtube, always remember to forgive fanboys, especially Mac fanboys. Cause they know nothing about life outside of ilife. They should get A life, not ilife.

    @olli2591

Search Linux and Hollywood in Google. If you really want one, pay for it.

So which Professional software are you using? imovie? Nice try.

  • something thats impossible with Linux: $

  • damn good !

    God gave us LINUX

  • Pity. Real footage was made by BBC and has nothing to do with

    Linux. youtube.com/watch?v=lzhDsojoqk8 shows that Windows

    was in use ;(

Next time would be important to find better source ;)

  • @theshcherbak Indeed, the beeb made this for an April Fools day joke a few years ago.

  • Linux - It gives you wings.

  • UBUNTU FTW

  • It should be a Redbull ad.

  • Ubuntu 10.04 can fly too :)

  • Linux is the only os to have a real life MASCOT for its advertisment unlike the other two cold electronic hateful evil people WIN BIG MAC DONALDS lol

  • UBUNTU 10.4 PWNS WINDOW$

  • My Linux Flied,By overheating the Ride.

  • piensa linux

se diferente y lucha contra el capital y el monopolio del conocimiento!!!!!!!!!1

  • My penguin killed himself trying to fly after watching this comercial. I'll never use Linux again!

  • jajajaja

  • i miss you linux .

  • Windows and Linux are both cool, just that Windows can't run Linux program and Linux can't run Windows program but linux is better for server ;)

  • What of Wine and stuff like that? Though a lot of programs aren't fully supported there are a good few that work perfectly.

  • yeap indeed linux is great. I have a friend and he instaled ubuntu 9.10 on his pentium 3..and it work's great.....Much bether than windows

  • Linux rules, you just gotta know how to turn on the cool stuff and change the theme :)

  • If Linux get's more user friendly, it would be the best operating system, fuck mac&pc

  • Because before, Windows was better and now because most games are for Windows, If games were for Windows and Linux, everything will maybe be different. ;)

  • Dude, try Ubuntu.

Until like last week I was a strict Mac user...true, I've tried Linux a couple times before, but the latest version of Ubuntu...it's just great!

Serious, I haven't seen the terminal since the original install, it's definitely ready.

And it works like a charm with doc, xls, ppt, Exchange, MSN,...you name it.

    Now, I'm a believer...

  • Lol you haven't used the terminal?

Your just a basic ubuntu user, with linux u can do alot more then windows / mac IF you know the terminal xD

  • No, I do know the terminal. When I started on Knoppix, there was no graphical interface for synaptic or aptitude...those were good times ^^

But still, if Linux is to come through as a decent alternative to Mac/Windows, even become the dominant OS, it HAS to remember that a lot of users don't know/don't have time to learn/don't want to know/don't need to know about the terminal.

PS: I do consider myself a very basic user. Curious, but still lambda :)

  • @iJul1609 For just about everything there is a gui now; the days when you couldn't do anything in Linux without knowing bash and you had to be able to compile from source are over. Downloading and installing software on Ubuntu, which seems to be the most popular distro these days, is simpler and (by far) quicker than the same on Windows.

  • @sinbadbuddha : yeah, I agree. But the problem is there is just too much you can do on Linux. Tends to be distracting. Managers know that. IT guys know that. Hence, can't work in an office...

  • Good point. It's not going to make your average office worker more productive, at least not without a *lot* of tweaking (execute permissions, firewalls etc. perhaps?), but I think programmers and administrators thrive on and need the kind of power and versatility that a system like GNU/Linux affords.

  • There isn't much need to use the terminal for new users.

Installing programs is as simple as point and click.

For almost any terminal command there is a gui you can use.

Sure, it might make life a little bit easier, but you don't have to use it if you don't want to.

  • I agree, and I'm a strictly windows user at the moment.

    Open source FTW.

  • Ktoś się namęczył :) Ciekawe jak to zrobili.

  • @sk595

    Pewnie w Blenderze ;)

    Ale naprawdę świetna robota!

  • So nice. Nothing is impossible with Linux.

  • @mahmoudsaeed90 You can't have sex with Linux, you can't kill Linux you can't fire it like a weapon, you can't make penguins fly with Linux, you can't bring peace to the middle east with Linux..

  • @mahmoudsaeed90 NO! Linux can't make flying whales that shoot lasers with intergalactic travel to take over Zorgon the planet of the Weegees!

  • @Patadude100 not- yet *dr evil moment*

  • @Patadude100 Why not???

  • @mahmoudsaeed90 Yea, Best OS in the World!

  • Very nice.. and... i'm a linuxer by the way.. :) 4ever.

  • simply awesome

  • Nooo, they broke the (in?)official background of the penguin logo!

If it can not fly, it can not crash!

  • In Ubuntu:

Applications -> Add/Remove -> Search the application you want, click the check-mark to select it, and click "Apply". The application is installed, added to the Applications menu in the proper category, and automatically updated whenever needed.

Of course, for power users, there are much more complex features that can be utilized. But if you aren't a power user, they are just about invisible.

  • Great video

  • Great!!!

  • *tear*

  • People don't know what Linux is because Microsoft is the richest company in the world.

Money = power but != smarts.

    Linux = smarts.

  • Linux is an Operating System

  • That's an awesome commercial.

  • neato!

    but what is linux?

  • it is an operating system

  • respect!

    (awesome Ad)

  • No matter how much I like Linux, it can't run games smoothly on steam.

  • Then call up Valve and tell them to make a Linux version.

  • You're so funny.

  • Why is that funny? It would only take like, 5-10 minutes. Game companies would be more than happy to make Linux versions if they knew how many people wanted them. Everyone always says they can't use Linux because games don't work well. Games will never work well unless the game companies make native versions. They won't make native versions until they know people really want them. It's up to you to tell them you want it.

  • omg this is the sad reallity :S

and all for the monopolization of microsoft alot of ppl now want linux.. wanna try how it is.. and 80%+ want the change :S but? =/ how? when? .-=Linux Rules=-.

  • Video is awesome, but linux still has alot of improving to do.

  • they should have included the word "free" somewhere

  • i agree

  • heheh... nice :D

  • Really a great video and it is indeed the truth about linux; I'm using it for three years now and I can only say ine thing to Windows user: just try it and you'll never get back:)

  • i tried Linux, it was ok, but i prefer WIndows

  • And that is why you will never get a job as a sysadmin.

  • After I watched this, it took me a few seconds to realize, "Wait a minute, penguins don't fly!"

  • hahaha

  • @somebodydc691n But with Linux they can. Nothing is impossible in Linux.

  • @somebodydc691n ur too smart man lol

  • Lovely video, but does anyone know the music?

  • @pietje91 Joe Bongiorno - Chasing the wind

  • @toovlo haha, long time ago I asked that, but thank you. (And I'm still using Linux :p)

  • Lovely edit. I love that BBC vid. I also love Linux. Well done!

  • Would you like to cancel or allow that win?

  • stfu dumbass

  • If Vista is good for you, keep it. But it is not good for me and for most Linux users, so keep it to yourself. And before speaking against Linux, try it, then you can judge. And please keep insults for yourself.

  • Linux Is Better At Handling Viruses But Not Many ISP's Provide It

  • This is not from the original owner. Its a great ad but not the original......but i cant find the original
