  • @ChickenGoujons

    agree

  • bad performance and people was saying lana del rey's performance was terrible!

  • Comment removed

  • @ashleyfann0324 first of all you don't say people was saying you say people were saying, and second of all at least florence is actually singing...

  • wow she is awesome live!

  • it's true that here she sounds off, but if u look for her singing this live, she sounds AMAZING just look for it on mtv music awards

  • This sounded off... something must be wrong with my speakers :)

  • It does sound slightly off but thats to be expected from a live version. Anyway, great song and performance <3

  • Could have done without the dancers in fairness.

  • Not flat at all.

  • @deansdilemma Anne Hathaway is Shakespeare's wife's name. She was a promiscuous lady of her time.

  • there in beetween vulcans and earth trannies.

  • @sandspoint YOU SAD CASE :(

  • she was only nervous because it's a great honor to be playing live on SNL. So she was trying to do her best.

  • i love her background dancers, they look soo cool :]

  • i think she sounded great but there was no back up...i think that was the only real issue because she definitely can sing...or my it was the acoustics or something but the voice isn't the issue i think at least

  • if this is flat, then my ass is made of cheese.

  • SNL has the worst sound recordings. Drop the vocal about 2dB. I can barely hear the music, all voice (a nice voice) but definitely crappy recording

  • Ps I loved the trannies as back up!! lol

  • does the curtain match the carpet?

  • @sandspoint Well - your feedback - does not match - any type of intelligence?

  • @sandspoint lmao

  • whats that with anne hathaway? everytime I want to watch Florence Anne is wearing a different dress and says: Ladies and Gentleman: Florence and the Machine...

  • @deansdilemma because she was hosting SNL

  • perfect.

  • Penis

  • florence i want your legs...

  • she's decidedly not flat. this is my first listen, but she sounds classically trained.

love the trannys in the back. actually surprised that snl would schedule an act that is this cool. the show has sucked hard at it for decades.

  • Long legs and a short skirt with red hair , does not a singer make. You want to hear this song done with soul... checkout Green Envy's cover of this with Lily Maroni doing lead part. awesome!!

Spring concert version is best .

  • @metrochef Florence tops that performance any day. Easily

  • Florence Leontine Mary Welch<3<3

  • thumbs up cause the top comment shouldn't be there!!!

  • @1970Ducati it sure does :)

  • OMG... She is awesome :D

  • Her legs are five miles long and her voice is as big as the sea! I love Florence + The Machine!

  • nervous like happens last night to lana del rey-

  • Taylor swift is flat!

  • Anne Hathaway has the largest mouth ever. Maybe she's part fish?

  • I like her. :)

  • Dem legs...

  • for some reason the dancers in blue remind me of the ring

  • The back-up dancers are mesmerising, love their moves.

  • I can only listen to this song when it's live. A studio track can't contain her insane voice :)

  • is it just me or is there a Beetlejuice reference in this with the dancers?

  • What a woman..... when watching her live I sometimes forget to breathe..... makes you proud to be British. Well done Flo

  • @1970Ducati Ur lucky. I wish I were British sometimes :/

  • Damn, she's got great legs.

  • She's nervous you can see her shaking, she looks stunning with that dress and her hair. love Florence shes a revelation to music :)

  • it,s flo,s song and florence is singing it ! thats all that matters !

  • Gosto de bandas que ousam com variedades de instrumentos e tornam a música mais rica de sons...

  • shes obviously nervous but shes defiantly not flat!!! if you wanna hear flat, look up any performance of rihanna singing "we found love" that is flat crap!!!!

  • @TigrisWildflower Who care, perfection is not human. Nervous, yea sure. I think she is marvellous and very human.

  • @ftp2leta i obviously was not dissing on her, i was standing up for her!

  • So not her best but still pretty good

  • FLORENCE MY DEAR you,ve got the love ,the legs ! AND A VOICE THAT RESONATES TO THE HEAVENS , it is so refreshing to see a female artist with your poise and grace that doesnt have to dress like a stripper or a baloney sammich to captivate the crowd ! and even more ,she NEVER lip syncs ! i,ll take your voice anyway, any day ,opposed to a buch of auto tued crap !

  • so. flat.

  • @JamieLynnHart You're FLAT. Your'e comment had no substance, just a lame stupid non-substantiated comment, which is, and fell. flat. Like you. Flat!

  • She is awesome, but yeah, wildly under pitch in this performance...Everyone has their off days, and flat is flat!

  • @bn4700 So an intimate performance, should be something different?

  • @Kieran494 Not sure I understand the comment...and not sure why you're taking such offence at all the flat comments, it's not you singing... and it's not an insult to her, it's just objective, she's not singing in tune here and many people can't enjoy this performance because of it...I love her voice and other performances of this song...

  • @bn4700 You are a Tool, aren't ya :(

  • @Kieran494 Nope, I'm not

  • @bn4700 Nah, you are, everyone knows now?

  • I am glad you can read YOU TOOL ?

Please reply to this post, I do this for fun, bring it on, you twit ?

Because, I can do it clean, and make you look like a drop-kick, easily!

  • My good friend is her cousin. I had lunch with her. Take that, people who don't know Florence!

  • I remember seeing this on SNL when it aired...very impressed :D Voice-wise, Florence reminds me of Grace Slick. Thanks for the post!

  • sorry, that was a little much. the rope part.

  • She sounded great, regardless of what the pseudo-music experts commenting below, think

  • holy....legs......BONER PATROL!

  • Her legs are gorgeous, but those clodhoppers she's got on keep her rooted to the ground. She looks terrified to take a step.

  • cratessaetarC- how about a nice warm glass of shut the hell up. seriously, is it your job to rain on everyones parade? first of all- eff off. Secondly- when was the last time you were on SNL? sit down and shutup. go borrow a rope u bag.

  • @makemoreeights well said, sir. well good bloody damn well good.

  • didnt know sounding completely flat was good music.. hmm.

  • @mikeystaubin Didn't know, 9 words could identify someone as a tool, but here we are?

  • @Kieran494 Didn't know hmm was a word, but I'm glad you can count that far.

  • lol @ the people still clapping.

  • @dim2dark Yeah LOL at you the Joke?

  • We are all the machine that drives her music.

  • I want her to seek a real challenging song, like a jazz song She is a pop singer, but she could really redefine it. She has such a good voice, let's, it is time for harder material for her.

  • You forgot to mention Grace Slick, bronxling. Awesome performance, amazing legs. :-D

  • @longislandsurfer Yeah, Grace Slick was the first person I thought of when I heard Florence. That is definitely who she sounds most like.

  • And I thought I was the only one :-)

Her voice is very reminiscent of Melanie, Laura Nyro, and Janis Joplin. Definitely NOT from this planet :-)

Thanks so much for posting the vid!

  • @UncleEqq1 You may want clean your ears out first, before you try those barbecue skewers?

Is there something wrong with your sound, because it sounds 'sweet' to me?

  • If you want to hear her on key, buy the CD. Otherwise, appreciate she has personalized the performance.

  • My god, this is notttttttt impressive in any way at all.

  • @infuckinglimbo For someone stuck in 'limbo; that's a really out there post, good luck with life, thanks for the view though?

  • So is "flat" the new word for "doesn't have computers constantly editing her pitch and volume?" People need to get the sticks out of their asses. She's a lovely singer with an incredibly entertaining and original set of songs; something you don't really see anymore.

  • Goosebumps? Seriously? I found both of her performances on SNL almost unlistenable. It seems like people here are impressed with her vocal acrobatics, which would indeed be impressive if she could sing on-pitch (which she can't). She is horribly flat on both of the live songs from SNL, to the extent that I was wondering if maybe her monitors weren't working. I wanted to poke barbecue skewers in my ears.

  • @UncleEgg1

I'm voting you up even though I don't agree with your assessment. Her voice is definitely an acquired taste I gotta admit!

  • @bronxling WELL I LOVE HER ANGELIC VOICE :)

  • Oh my good god her voice...

    Sh-

    She,

She's flat... she's just so flat

and yet, it still sounds good for some reason

  • i see florence, but where the fuck is the machine?

  • @drewjb Her voice is the machine.

  • @drewjb Appreciate the feedback, but can you keep it clean please? The Machine? Part of it is there, they wouldn't be able to fit the rest of it in that small studio?

This is a intimate performance of Florence + the Machine Live :) Like they leave feedback on "Dog Days are Over', she dosen't sound like that live? On that track, there are 10 or more layers of Florence's Angelic voice, to give that full Florence sound it has :)

What I love about this performance is, it's all her, on her own!

  • @Kieran494 don't worry about it.

  • @drewjb Well sweet :)

  • Flat or not. Good or bad. Feel what you want and don't force it on another person. I like the song and her voice. I don't think less or better of another person if they feel the same way that I do or not. YouTube brings out the bad in people. And sometimes it brings out the best. Life is short.

  • its so sad 10 people don't have ears.

  • @StarkidCook No, 10 people are probably avid musicians, or work around music all day. Apparently that means someone out of pitch is only noticeable by them, judging by these comments here. I could name 100 better female singers who are currently actively performing. If you like the music, cool. I like their CD's too. But it's no less auto-tuned than a Britney Spears CD.

  • @dirkadirka151 To think that in one form or another that vocal trickery hasn't been employed by at least 90% of the music industry is naive...to say the least. Auto tune has become the poster child for that. Double tracking, stereo vocal tracking...changing pitch through tempo of the finished product, that is, recording it slower than speeding it up...or vice versa. This has become snobbery of the highest accord. Creation of sound from nothing is a miracle, its perfection is not necessary.

  • I LOVE Unique singers but there are parts of this I love and parts I hate. The beginning was shaky and then went up hill from there. Not Sure if I like it yet

  • she is a goddess

  • She wails like a siren of ancient Greece. A goddess walks among us.

  • I hope she doesn't give up her day job! Terrible voice and zero talent.

  • @Dwaggon2 I would love to hear your voice. Just because you don't enjoy her music doesn't make every other person hate it. Her voice is something of acquired taste.

  • @Dwaggon2 Don't give up you;re day job Dwagger2. . A music critic you are NOT. And NO! I don't want any fries with that Whopper? Now go back to work

  • 2:59 Hahah fail.... am I the only one who ehard the extra claps??? XD

  • OMG THE BLUE PPL ARE THERE OH MY GOSHHHHHHH!!!! :D :D :D

  • A random collection of thoughts-

Goosebumps every time I hear it!

For some reason, I'm always reminded of the Hunger Games with this song

Those heels! How does she perform?

To those who think this is bad, have you heard 90% of live performances? This is amazing, and this is also one of the most technically difficult songs ever written!

  • @hpobsessor1 Don't quote me, I am only a Koala! But I think I read some where? In the single ?

'Dog Days are Over', it has ten or more vocal tracks, layed on top of each other, in the recording?

That's why you get that rich Florence sound in that track, it's all her voice on those tracks though, added up together to equal, that beautiful sound you hear!

  • @Kieran494 plus a crap load of auto-tune.

  • @dirkadirka151 Have you ever heard auto-tune? It sounds nothing like this...

  • @dirkadirka151 Everyone has a right to an OPINION ?

I have above average hearing, and use Quality Branded Headphones, to view Youtube!

And it is all, her voice!

Look how small the studio is, how could they fit the whole band in, for a LIVE performance, come on?

Hopefuly, that covers, the issue related to you, leaving your feedback ?

  • @Kieran494 I'm not sure what this means. Are "Quality Branded Headphones" a brand? Does above average hearing mean you can hear a cricket from a mile away? Neither has anything to do with someone's ability to discern pitch. Also, her band isn't that big. If you knew anything about music production you would know that they're all running in-ear monitors. Each performer probably has their own monitor mix. If you have to make excuses for an act that gets paid 20K+ per show, something's wrong.

  • @dirkadirka151 What I am trying to say is I have a very goog ear for MUSIC !

And as far as I am concerned this is an excellent perfomance.

If you didn't know, I actually support Florence + the Machine on Youtube

  • @dirkadirka151 That quote should read I HAVE A VERY GOOD EAR FOR MUSIC !

Remember I am only a Koala, I do make mistakes sometime on the keyboard, I only have paws too type with :)

  • The only problem with this clip is, you cannot crank it up on the volume control!

  • This SNL appearance was the first time I'd ever seen or heard Florence. I fell in love instantly, downloaded "Lungs" later that night, and I've been hooked ever since. The people who claim this performance isn't good have no clue what they are talking about. This song is very technically difficult to perform and she pulls it off so effortlessly. If you haven't heard "Ceremonials" yet, go buy it RIGHT NOW!!!!

  • listen to her uk xfactor performance of the song shake it off the most uplifting song you will ever hear

  • those legs. flawless.

  • beautiful. it seem that 7 people are still in their dog days.

  • beautiful

  • Is she tonedeaf. Cause that wasn't even close to in tune. Her tone is good, the song is good, but man, her pitch is not happening. Somebody said goosebumps. Rubbing your fingeranils down a chalk board will do that to. Argghh!

  • @TheBairdo Ugly piece of worth less crap!

  • @TheBairdo I think you're the tonedeaf one here. she is brilliant, at least she doesn't use autotune like ninety-nine percent of idiotic mainstream nitwits.

  • @TheBairdo Nope. It's just you. She is singing in key with the song. You're definitely the tone deaf one.

  • @CratessetarC How can you listen to 1:02-1:05 ( well really from that point on) and think that's in tune? It's incredibly, and consistently, flat. She doesn't get back on track until about 1:40. A minute later it's back to being a train wreck. She's consistently this bad in almost every live performance I've seen. She benefits greatly from pitch correcting software in the studio. She's loud, has a unique sense of style, and is a redhead, which is good for her, but that's all.

  • @dirkadirka151 WHOA WHOA WHOA. wait two seconds. Have you ever heard her live in another performance. her voice is unreal. Have you heard 50 percent of the other female artists today? I can understand you saying that you don't like this style. I could get over that but flat is the last thing Florence is. Just because she preformed this in a different way doesn't make it bad. You try and hit a note like that and you can give me a call.

  • @dirkadirka151 ALSO she did You've got the love later on in this episode of SNL and it was unreal. I could go on for weeks my friend.

  • @dirkadirka151 Many artists can't repeat their studio records live, so they sing harder parts differently. That's what she did here. She sang lower notes. And she hits those notes right. She wasn't out of tune. But there sure are flaws. I don't say it's perfect.

  • @edv11nas Regardless, the notes she hits do not at all sound right.

  • Her legs remind me of the scene in one of the "Naked Gun" movies when Leslie Nelson sees that hot chick and her legs just continue moving up for a couple of minutes. Besides that their performance was really good

  • Is it just me, or are her legs AMAZING

  • wow this was soooo diferent i really liked it, so when i was watching snl i had to run to get a pencil and write the name of the band so i wouldnt forget it

  • I would eat a mile of her shit.....just to see where it came from. OMG im in love.

  • @jimicheesecake Huh? Lol!

  • I thought I would never say this but her voice I think is way better than adeles

  • One word ... Goosebumps

  • What the odd's you don't hear cheering ot clapping during the song! LOLz

  • 4 people dog days aren't over

  • Peace and love to everybody on here, I hope more people wake up soon to what is REALLY going on in this world....

  • anne or florence? tough one...

  • Oh my good god her voice...

    Sh-

    She,

    She's not human.

Her voice is just- I am literally blown the hell away.

  • Oh my good god her voice...

    Sh-

    She,

    She's not human.

  • FLORENCE COME TO RIGA!!!

  • Thumbs up if you think Florence has hotter legs than Tina Turner!

  • Girl's got legs :3

  • never seen the amazinig florence look soooo dam sexy ! she is such a beautiful woman ! you have to understand this is live tv time is everything, the short version for sure, but still an epic show ! LOVE ALL THINGS FATM !

  • Adele and Florence got me into music again.

  • i cant express how much i love her!! words cant describe it :) <3

  • i thin this is one of her best performances ever! coming from someone who has seen just about every one of her shows, songs, and interveiws on youtube:D love you flo!!!!!

  • I really like the dancers behind her

  • This is the performance that put a spell on me and made me start listening to her.

  • I think what's cool about Florence is that she sings these songs over and over live, but each time manages to make them sound different

  • I love her songs, but she sounds like she's dying.

  • This is American Idol outtake material. Pretty rough.

  • Does anybody know which designer made her dress?

  • It seems she was shaking, maybe she was nervous...

  • She has a lot of vocal talent, but that song was pretty bad...

  • @TomWhaley621 is it just me or does she sound off pitch most of thetime?

  • @danamdkny

Don't know about pitch, but it sounds rushed to me.

  • It sounded like Anne said "Lawrence and the Machine"

  • She was nervous you can tell, but I've seen people on SNL live and everyone sucks lol. I'm not sure why that is. I heard Death Cab For Cutie on there once and it made me so sad... they were sooo bad.
