My mom's friend asked for a water in a restaraunt and while she was there they were cleaning out pipes in a sink so they had a pitcher full of water with bleach. they served he the bleach water and she had to be hospitalized. even worse is that she was pregnant at the time
My sister always has to take care of a baby for my moms friend... I think a nice trip to apple-bees would make her relax a bit. I mean, its pretty clear that babies LOVE apple-bees XD

I work at Applebees in Corunna, Michigan. Our kids juices, are stored at the bar. I wouldn't blame 'APPLEBEES' or start calling applebee servers stupid. This is ridiculous to have happened I do agree., but sometimes people who aren't finished with training do NOT know what all of the drinks are. I do know at our applebees there are no alcoholic beverages served in styrofoam (kids cups). Ever consider the mom being "in on it?"

I'll tell you what I think happend from a server's point of view. Some idiot bar tender (they USED to make juice cups at the bar) wanted to get a little sloshed and accidently gave the server their booze instead of the juice.
Seriously, the team at that applebees must have done something against procedures as in premixing alcohol into the storm pourers. All of the pourers are color labeled and for the color blind, have their own specific homes to cradle in while not in use. That is a mistake that can happen anywhere, especially if the bartender is moving a mile a minute during a busy rush. How ever, margarita mix is bright green, AJ is yellow. It should have been caught b4 leaving.
i hate applebees because every single time i go with my family in a booth there is someone smoking in the bar and the bar is in the middle so theres nowhere else to go to eat so we just go to Chilles. =(

A dangerous level of alcohol in his blood stream. I concede that substances considered 'safe' (water, juice, milk) can be dangerous when ingested in massive amounts, but alcohol requires far less quantities to cause damage than, say, water, but more than the average person would consider drinking.

It might just be me, but I can smell the alcohol when it's being poured into a cup. What I think happened? I find it very hard to believe someone could fill a CHILD's cup with alcohol. The only way that could happen is if someone is holding the cup but NOT looking at what's going into it WHILE there is someone ELSE pouring the booze but NOT looking at what he's pouring it into. I believe the parents put alcohol in their child's cup and are using this to squeeze a lawsuit out of it. I'm willing to bet if Applebee's offers a settlement out of court, the parents will take it.

Pssssh, so what. I drank alcohol all the time as a baby. I'd finish playing with the stuffed animals and have a shot of whiskey. After sesame street, a nice cold scotch. And there is nothing wrong with a little bit of wine to go with my macaroni and cheese.
Sad mistake brought on by maximizing return on employee pay vs customer number ratio. In other words, a stressed, harried, over-busy waitstaff/bartender will make mistakes. Sometimes those mistakes can be costly. But, putting on more waitstaff would not be to the corporate liking. So, by all means, FIRE the lowest person on the totem pole & keep those big boy bonuses coming.
Well it's not the end of the world but it does have to be addressed. They've done something about it so leave it there. I've no doubt the baby will be fine so as long as the family got an apology and some free stuff I'd leave it be.

I have not worked at a restaurant but I have worked in retail such as Wall-Mart and after an exhausting day my brain doesn't function the same way.
The work environment these days can be tough and everyone is just trying to make a living.

Thanks for the post. So they used to store the juice and alcohol in the same place? I'm surprised this only happened twice. Although the parents may have switched the drinks.

Sad mistake brought on by maximizing return on employee pay vs customer number ratio. In other words, a stressed, harried, over-busy waitstaff/bartender will make mistakes. Sometimes those mistakes can be costly. But, putting on more waitstaff would not be to the corporate liking. So, by all means, FIRE the lowest person on the totem pole & keep those big boy bonuses coming.

Well it's not the end of the world but it does have to be addressed. They've done something about it so leave it there. I've no doubt the baby will be fine so as long as the family got an apology and some free stuff I'd leave it be.

We may be making a big deal out of this, this is more than likely just a simple accident. The waitress probably mixed up juice with alcohol, and gave it to the baby. There are too many things that could have happened besides that. Could the waitress have been a sadistic bitch? Or, was it just a simple accident. Either way, I do trust that she will be fired. If not, then there REALLY is something wrong with Applebee's.

i work at a restaurant.........this is totally a case of someone mixing up the kids cup with a cup and employee was obviously using to get drunk on the job......ppl make alcoholic drinks in a togo or kids cup so u cant see what they are drinkin......and employee was just dumb enough to get the two cups mixed up.
