One thing, building on what you are talking about with controlling the armor, is how that ties in to capping bases. Because almost every single base in b2k has an lav or tank there, and that whoever has a stronger initial push at the beginning of the match will usually win due to their team having a larger number of vehicles.

Erm Sarge, I don't know what your skill-level in Counter-Strike was (Nor which CS you played), but: Way more important than the armor was an assault rifle or a smg. At least in FW/CW's (at least I experienced it like this). I was actually glad to hear one of my fav. commentators talk about my probably favourite game of all times, the link you made between those games was also great :)

this map suck in consoles everyone is waiting for the jets or heli, there are always snipers in the buildings and because you have already two flags and the other team has 2 flags nobody wants to capture other. i loved gulf when i played it in BFp4f and i think that in BF2 was more awesome. imagine this 4 people in the tall buildings, 4 in the jets en heli and 2 or 3 waiting for the jets

@Letterkenny08 On Battlefield 2, the commander was the person who gave UAV scans, Artillery strikes, Vehicle and Supply drop, and also gave orders to all the squads of his team. Basically a guy that sits back at a safe base and helps all the frontline soldiers.

I always thought it was bad when vehicles were mostly seen as a power-up like in Quake like you said (and that since BF1942) and always thought either a special pilot class with a shitty weapon or spawning directly in the tank and can't bail would be better but now that they reduced all the classes to 4 it's out of question.

Alos yeah no commander is bad (eye in the sky was annoying tho) and with squads of only 4 players and the ability to spawn on everyone there's less teamplay than BF2/2142.

The MAV should be nerfed, the thermal is to crisp and clear, and yes, its unrealistic.

And out clan is using the recon kit for the MAV as you've stated. Mobile respawn cannot be underestimated thought. It can provide a massive advantage. Like the unknowns in PR BF2, for Insurgents.

@powmful Then again that squad has one man disabled the whole time he uses the MAV. Without forgetting snipers are in most cases useless compared to assault rifles and the beacon is heard at 10~ meters. Vs assault close range you die, vs armor you die, vs air vehicul you die... Then again I would trade MAV for artillery strike anyday.

@Zanpacto0 Or maybe they make it so the SOFLAM can call in airstrikes and also laser designate targets, but that would be a little bit to OP, the soflam is a bit useless if no-one is using laser guided missiles in vehicles and Javelins on the ground, you kinda have to force engineers to use the Javelin and snipers to bust out the SOFLAM in matches.

teh support class is very important too, you can blow up tanks with c4 explosives  en you can give ammo. You can kill campers with mortar strike and you can keep small alleys enemy free with your claymore.

In ps3 it's a mess. Nobody plays for the team. Only veterans. Most matches feel like a deathmatch. Too many CoD players, I guess. Only when I play with friends I see decent matches. That said, a commander mode is definitely needed on ps3. I got my back stabbed for relying on a team-mate one too many times.
