@GhraakGargoyle in hockey, when there is a delayed penalty, it's more about control then touching it. Refs would blow it down when the puck is touched straightaway to save time on clock and that penalized team would assume to have control of puck. the was a only a tip. no control
@NessMencesal haha i love the canucks. im mutual for the coyotes, and can not wait to see the jets play. will be nice to see the a new canadian team in the league, and lets hope they can become a great team soon. they have a few players that can start the progress; Ladd, Kane, Byfuglein (although im not his biggest fan, he can still offer a lot)

Sedin caused the entire problem. You can't hang around in your own zone in tight quarters like that when you have a delayed penalty. Also, someone should always be behind the puck to prevent such a thing as backup. Horrible play by Sedin.
Yeah this is Henriks fault, even if obrien wasn't there to touch the puck, Henrik lost control, and the opposing team would've still scored. Obrien was probably the only guy who tried to stop the puck, take a look at Henrik just stands there watching obrien skate. Fukin Pathetic

Of course O'Brien is to blame. It was completely unnecessary for him to touch the puck as Phoenix had a delayed penalty against them. He could've let Tikhonov shoot the puck into the empty net and it still wouldn't have counted. So instead he shoots it into his own net to make sure it counts. What a retard!
Why was everyone blaming O'brien, it was Henrik Sedin who was dicking around in his own zone with the goaltender out. O'brien was the only one who made an effort to keep it out.
@Bounce01234 Ya I agree. Plus you watch all these own goal videos on youtube and think, well if they dove they might have been able to get it, and the effort was definitely there =/
@Bounce01234 agreed, it was more like he was trying to keep it out of the enemies' hands cause they had an easy shot lined up. Not O'Briens fault imo.
You're right that Sedin was at fault for initially giving it up and being lazy but if O'Brien had not tried to play the puck once Tikhonov tipped it then Tikhonov would have gone for it, stopping play. Instead O'B battled for the puck causing it to go back into his own net. Should have just let the Yotes get the whistle at that point, which I realize is easy for me to say in hindsight. I won't badmouth him though because I have always liked him as a player.
ok i am a canucks fan but i have to admit this was pretty funny. i also giv shane credit for that dive and then at the end the light keeps flashing on shane. lmao.
Im not a Canuck fan at all .. but I must admith ur totaly right It wasnt Obrien's fault at all .. the puck was bouncing .. If some ppl say its Obrien's fault then its the Fault of the other canuck player who passed the puck too
This is more Henrik's fault thatn it is O'Brien's. Henrik was stickhandling in his ending waiting for the perfect pass then forced a stupid play that lead to O'Brien screwing up. But the play really should have been called dead, if there was a delayed penalty and the puck was trickling just wide of the net then the team that's about to be called for a penalty pokes it into the net, he never had possesion of the puck, but he caused the goal.
holy shit why didnt they whistle it. when there is a delayed penealty called on someone and a player from the team that got the penalty touches it should have been whistled down
if you understand hockey which from your comment you prob dont... the rules are you need to have posession and controll the puck in order for the whistle to be blown you cant just touch it. Hope i helped you learn more about how hockey is played
@Kartracer6 buddy look up what the word "deflection" means... he hit the puck with his stick to get it away from tikonen and it went into his net that is not a deflection... hope i helped you out as well why are rules in the NHL so hard to understand...?
@lorenzo9389 rules are really easy to understand. The defense deflected the puck in a way that it caused the puck to go into the open net. You can't do that it's against the rules. The 2 guys are fighting over the puck and it gets deflected into the goal by the defense. It's a simple rule
@Kartracer6 yes but you are having a problem understanding that rule does not apply because he did not deflect it he swiped at it so the opposing player would not get it he just directed in into his own net... that was not a deflection he intended to swipe at it to gain possession and not have the play blown dead
@lorenzo9389 the defender went to grab the puck and hit it with his stick knocking it towards the Canucks net. He was the main cause the puck went in. Which is illegal to do and should have been waved off. Believe me no one enjoys a good laugh at the Canucks scoring an own goal then me but even then so I just gotta look at this with unbiased eyes and even though it probably didn't effect the game....it should have been waved off.
@Kartracer6 I understand what you are saying you are just wrong when it comes to the deflection he did not deflect it he intentionally hit the puck as to get it away from the opposing player but he directed it into the net which is still a good goal and shouldnt be waved off... Im a bruins fanatic so i mean i could care les but it would be a good goal
@lorenzo9389 Not that it mattered the game was pretty much out of reach...I think it was like 5-0 or something but the defender was the reason the puck went that direction. Had he not been there the puck would have never gone in. He smacked it with his stick twice causing it to go in. As a ref this is just a poor judgement to allow this goal. But hey it happens especially with NHL refs
@lorenzo9389 Just noticed I never explained this view to you. Rule 78.5 (xi) ....any physical action by an offending player that may cause the puck to enter the non-offending team’s goal, shall not be considered a legal goal....
@lorenzo9389 That the goal shouldn't have counted because the Coyotes player was a major cause for that puck going into the net. The rule I qouted is for disallowed goals on Delayed penalties. And since the Coyotes player batted the puck and caused it to be knocked into the open net the goal should be disallowed
@lorenzo9389 In theory, you are correct. But in practice, it doesn't work like that. We've all seen countless times where the player merely touched the puck and the whistle was blown. "Posession" means different things to different refs, and much of that depends on the context. Cheers.
@lorenzo9389 True. But the refs don't always call the play dead based on what you said and the actual rule.
"When the team to be penalized gains control of the puck, the Referee will blow his whistle to stop play and impose the penalty on the offending player or goalkeeper."
Most of the time if the penalized team touches the puck regardless of if they gain possession, the refs blow the play dead. In this case the ref made the right call and didn't blow his whistle.
This goal should've totally disallowed... Tikhonov clearly touched the puck with his stick. Even if he didn't have control of it, it should've been disallowed...
PS: The whistle should have been blown if it was a dleayed penalty because the other guy touched it. Therefor it was a false goal.

bigdantropphat 2 years ago
ok i am a canucks fan but i have to admit this was pretty funny. i also giv shane credit for that dive and then at the end the light keeps flashing on shane. lmao.
Repik8000 2 years ago
that was too much messing around with canucks its something they have a problem with a few times but that was good offensive by the cyotes
dhaywrd 2 years ago
You gotta give Shane credit for that dive, he almost had it with that last second effort, I give him credit for that
ARod016 2 years ago 21
yeah everybody blew it but i think it wasn't his mistake.
it was only a terrible deflection =(
KikeTheLifeguard 2 years ago 3
I remember that. I felt so bad for Shane because the media blew it out of proportion.
JonnyRidge 2 years ago 6
that was just a bad deflection.

People are retards, The puck deflected off tikanov's stick. It wasn't O'Brien's fault, the puck was bouncing.....morons
Angelo1982 2 years ago 7

O'Brien is a PIM King
savebylundqvist3530 2 years ago
This is more Henrik's fault thatn it is O'Brien's. Henrik was stickhandling in his ending waiting for the perfect pass then forced a stupid play that lead to O'Brien screwing up. But the play really should have been called dead, if there was a delayed penalty and the puck was trickling just wide of the net then the team that's about to be called for a penalty pokes it into the net, he never had possesion of the puck, but he caused the goal.
CanucksfanKyle 2 years ago
holy shit why didnt they whistle it. when there is a delayed penealty called on someone and a player from the team that got the penalty touches it should have been whistled down
bestgoalie95 2 years ago
if you understand hockey which from your comment you prob dont... the rules are you need to have posession and controll the puck in order for the whistle to be blown you cant just touch it. Hope i helped you learn more about how hockey is played

@lorenzo9389 soo truee
manraj54322 1 year ago
@lorenzo9389 the rule also states you can not score a goal if the defense deflects the puck into the goal.
Kartracer6 1 year ago
@Kartracer6 buddy look up what the word "deflection" means... he hit the puck with his stick to get it away from tikonen and it went into his net that is not a deflection... hope i helped you out as well why are rules in the NHL so hard to understand...?
lorenzo9389 1 year ago
@lorenzo9389 rules are really easy to understand. The defense deflected the puck in a way that it caused the puck to go into the open net. You can't do that it's against the rules. The 2 guys are fighting over the puck and it gets deflected into the goal by the defense. It's a simple rule
Kartracer6 1 year ago
@Kartracer6 yes but you are having a problem understanding that rule does not apply because he did not deflect it he swiped at it so the opposing player would not get it he just directed in into his own net... that was not a deflection he intended to swipe at it to gain possession and not have the play blown dead
lorenzo9389 1 year ago
@lorenzo9389 the defender went to grab the puck and hit it with his stick knocking it towards the Canucks net. He was the main cause the puck went in. Which is illegal to do and should have been waved off. Believe me no one enjoys a good laugh at the Canucks scoring an own goal then me but even then so I just gotta look at this with unbiased eyes and even though it probably didn't effect the game....it should have been waved off.
Kartracer6 1 year ago
@Kartracer6 I understand what you are saying you are just wrong when it comes to the deflection he did not deflect it he intentionally hit the puck as to get it away from the opposing player but he directed it into the net which is still a good goal and shouldnt be waved off... Im a bruins fanatic so i mean i could care les but it would be a good goal
lorenzo9389 1 year ago
@lorenzo9389 Not that it mattered the game was pretty much out of reach...I think it was like 5-0 or something but the defender was the reason the puck went that direction. Had he not been there the puck would have never gone in. He smacked it with his stick twice causing it to go in. As a ref this is just a poor judgement to allow this goal. But hey it happens especially with NHL refs
Kartracer6 1 year ago
@lorenzo9389 Just noticed I never explained this view to you. Rule 78.5 (xi) ....any physical action by an offending player that may cause the puck to enter the non-offending team’s goal, shall not be considered a legal goal....
Kartracer6 1 year ago
@Kartracer6 What is the relevance of your comment in accordance to this video and decision?
lorenzo9389 1 year ago
@lorenzo9389 That the goal shouldn't have counted because the Coyotes player was a major cause for that puck going into the net. The rule I qouted is for disallowed goals on Delayed penalties. And since the Coyotes player batted the puck and caused it to be knocked into the open net the goal should be disallowed
Kartracer6 1 year ago
@Kartracer6 Nah it should've counted...Why? Cause Fuck'em that's why!
LiquidYogi 11 months ago
@LiquidYogi Eh...IDK as much as I don't care for the Canucks I just gotta say they still deserve a fair call like everyone else.
Kartracer6 11 months ago
@lorenzo9389 In theory, you are correct. But in practice, it doesn't work like that. We've all seen countless times where the player merely touched the puck and the whistle was blown. "Posession" means different things to different refs, and much of that depends on the context. Cheers.
Willyliam 1 year ago
@lorenzo9389 True. But the refs don't always call the play dead based on what you said and the actual rule.
"When the team to be penalized gains control of the puck, the Referee will blow his whistle to stop play and impose the penalty on the offending player or goalkeeper."
Most of the time if the penalized team touches the puck regardless of if they gain possession, the refs blow the play dead. In this case the ref made the right call and didn't blow his whistle.
TheHockeyCentral 11 months ago
@TheHockeyCentral If the puck is touched twice consecutively by the same team that team is deemed to have control of the puck. That was a bad call.
psi2hi 11 months ago
@TheHockeyCentral That was a bad call...the action of the defender caused the puck to go into the net. You can't do that it's against the rules
Kartracer6 11 months ago
im a canucks fan but i mean come on!
how do you score on your own net like that.
shutout101 2 years ago
This goal should've totally disallowed... Tikhonov clearly touched the puck with his stick. Even if he didn't have control of it, it should've been disallowed...
