  • my screen stopped working after this, what do i do? nothing changed...

  • thanks bro

  • Piece of cake thanks

  • This was awesome! Thanks, worked like a charm.

  • worked a treat , thanks!

  • Works! Thanks for the video, it helped a bunch. Much easier than I thought it would be.

  • Ignore the guy who suggests using the hole in the back to push out the keyboard. It is directly under the F4 key which is now ruined. The trick seems to be to use good light to find the clips behind F4 and F8. I used tweezers to push the clips back. There is a fourth clip on mine. Apart from damaged key, 2G upgrade works great!

  • Thanks...worked like a charm.

  • Can u give me the link on this chip ? Did u upgrade ddr2 or ddr3 ? Itried to upgrade DDR3 1333 but it doesent work .. u konw why ?

  • Thanks for this very useful tutorial - just followed your instructions to upgrade my Acer Aspire One D260 from 1GB to 2GB. I used Crucial memory; I find their system scanner very reassuring as I don't make a habit of taking computers apart. The keyboard was a little more awkward to get out than anticipated - pushing down on the back as you show definitely helped. Note that windows experience FOR MEMORY went from 4.4 to 4.5 - overall index remains at 2.4 due to processor.

    Thanks again. :)

  • *pause right after telling how to take off keyboard, and takes keyboard completely off and sets aside* "now you want to make sure you dont take it all apart because its a pain.... well fuck... "now you need to be carefull while replaceing the memory because the sodder is sensitive on this sodimm cheap *damn packageing why you so annoy pop, chip flies through the air and lands on the carpet damnit all*

  • do you have a vid showing how to remove all thw cover i need to get at the power module in my Acer Aspire ??

  • "thanks for watchin, and hoe, uh, good luck to you." lmao

  • thanks a lot man.. i resolved my slowness problems

  • you sound like Nicholas Cage.

  • Rediculous! RAM upgrade should not be this involved- Nice video though- Thank you-

  • dang you still use blockbuster??

  • Awesome! Quick and easy. Doesn't make my netbook a speed demon, but it doesn't hang up near as often or for as long. Now where is that quick and cheap processor upgrade?

  • @fuzzytb Didnt know you could upgrade processor, can you?

  • @OneShotSheep Sorry, being sarcastic. You might be able to, but I'm sure the cost wouldn't be justified.

  • thanks. really helpful.

  • @sseiyah I've tred 3 different sticks of both 1333 and 1066 speed RAM and when I put them in the netbook wont boot, when I try to power on the screen doesn't come on at all, not even the backlight, but the fan spins and so does the HDD...

Again, I've tried 3 different sticks from each speed so the modules aren't bad, tried both Crucial and Patriot... What is wrong? I also tried updating BIOS.

  • This video also applies to the d255 as well as the d255e. Also get your ram from crucial, the (Crucial CT25664BC1067 2GB 204-PIN PC3-8500 SODIMM DDR3 Memory Module) works great. This ram upgrade also works out a lot of the technical kinks that make their way into the system. Although, if you want a work on a computer to do stuff like editing videos and creating websites your going to need a computer with 6+ gb of ram. But for common use purposes the ram upgrade in this computer is sufficient.

  • How can i add 4gb? do i need aneything else ?

  • @DjKenTeX 2 gb is as high as this device will go

  • I got my 2G chip direct from Crucial and it worked.

  • Thank you for the video it was very helpful. The upgrade worked great for me.

I picked up 2gb memory on ebay for $14.95 delivered (in Australia). I used 2GB MEMORY SODIMM DDR3 LAPTOP RAM PC3-10600S 1333Mhz

  • Dude I have to give you props for maki8ng it look so easy and very clear n straight forward thxs man!

  • does this method work on all acer aspire one?

  • @naim2194 Many of them are similar.

  • Is it same as Acer Aspire One D255?

  • @staffersteward Yes, it is! I've just finished mine and it works perfectly!

  • @Ycreak :)

  • can you put ddr2 ram instead of ddr3

  • Comment removed

  • @lestert03 no, 2gb is only $10 now w/free shipping

  • Hey-- do you think this particular machine will take 4GB of RAM by any chance ?? Could really use it. Good Vid && thanks.

  • @RedFlagMobileDotCom Not tested, It may work, however doubtful

  • @RedFlagMobileDotCom it will take 4GB, I installed in mine, it will only recognize it if you run Windows 7 professional, ultimate etc but not starter. can install 4GB with starter but will only recognize 2GB

  • @flamongoworld i am about to buy KINGSTON KVR1066D3S7/4G or KVR1333D3S9/4G..

so i would like your help since you already upgraded it??which ram did you use?thanks a lot!

  • @christosp90 I used the KVR1333D3S9/4G, works and shows all 4G in configuration, but not with windows starter of course! tip, do not attempt to remove any key to access tabs holding keyboard in place as I have seen suggested in some videos, it will break the hinge mechanism. good luck

  • @flamongoworld ok thanks a lot!!

  • @RedFlagMobileDotCom only 4gb maximum RAM upgrade

    i read it from acer.com

  • @RedFlagMobileDotCom ups sorry i mean 2GB because CPU limitation

  • is the same memory as you put your machine

  • Hello friend, my question is to install a 2g ram, acer does not start it like that shown in the video, as is memory, what will happen as my acer aspire one, memory is correct and will not start, with windows 7 ultimate

    thanks

  • @MultiCassam You probably bought the wrong memory for your specific model, or the right memory and its defective.

  • @MultiCassam These can accept only 2gb at all times. its the atom's fault. Not windows, try removing anything but 2gb and run memtest86

  • well done, simple and easy to follow instructions, just finished upgrading my little aspire one to 2g. great video. thank you.

  • Thanks! That was a great help!

  • It works out like a champ. Everything turns out as what your video says. Thanks for sharing your valuable information.

    Gary

  • Thank you, couldn't have upgraded without you!

  • excellent video, managed to upgrade my Acer D225E netbook just as you showed, one problem when taking off the keyboard I pulled a little too hard and undid the keyboard connection (the thing you said not to take off, of all things) can you show how to put this back on if possible?

  • I Have a D255E-2677, Does anyone know if this model can be upgrade? thanks

  • this isn't my computer, mine isn't even acer! thumb down

  • Thanks for the vid. I used it, starting, stopping, and rewatching it to upgrade my RAM to 2 gb.

  • Hey I wanted to ask you that for this same model, what brand/kind or whatever kind of ram should i buy?

its the same model but with-13444

  • Thanks for the tutorial. I updated my DRAM and changed the HDD to a SDD. It is a pain to get the keyboard off (it is not in factory condition now) but it is pretty easy. Great video. My DRAM was low density RAM that I used in my old Dell netbook. Perhaps people run into a speed issue with other RAM. Mine started right up!

  • excellent video, just used this as a guide to change the memory on my acer aspire one 522 and it was a breeze

  • Very nice video, thanks for the help.

  • take mote of the leave the keyboard connected it took 20 min for me to reconnect.

  • if i want upgrade D255E-133kk to 2GB can or not ?

  • EM355 has 8 screws - uses same ram.

  • @hogensan i have em355.are those screws on the back or bellow keyboard? can i pop out the back cover like on this video?

  • @andrija95aki

What I mean is there are 8 screws under the keyboard that have to be removed to pop out bottom.

Hidden one, for me, was center bottom. EM355

  • Great video, I have a D255E-13605 and I got a Kingston 2GB PC3-8500 CL7 and it works !Thanks so much!

  • Hey man, did the RAM upgrade make a noticeable difference in overall performance? My mom has this same net book and I may upgrade it soon, thanks for the video and the help!

  • very nice thx ;)

  • @EYEamLOUIE Yes.

  • I have one Acer Aspire One D255e-N57DQkk. The support and the Acer website stated that i had a memory with 1066 MHz, but that was wrong. Mine was at 1333 MHz. If you have the same problems, google KN1GB0H0 and see the google pictures. If yours look the same, with the same serial numbers, you also have 1333 MHz. They are perhaps wrong on more models...

  • You were only using 50% of the RAM on this? I have the same thing and with it just sitting I'm using about 70%, on boot up it's maxed out at 100%. I was wondering how to take off the bottom. I think that I almost broke it off when I tried to take it off before watching this.

  • mines really slow on google, and its been slowing down period. I think i might just sell it and save up for something better

  • excellent, just finished upgrading my D255-1268 using this (and the recommended memory chip from the local computer store), this worked perfectly. The best of the various YouTube videos on this subject!

  • Excellent tutorial. I upgraded my D255e 13865 to 2Gb in less than 5 minutes.

  • thx ;)

  • i have around the same D255E but does my number have to match yours, mine says D255E-13405 instead of it saying 13639 like yours. shlould i still go ahead with this or are the numbers that important

  • Great video. Especially helpful when removing the keyboard!

  • @sseiyah - You must have the short version of the dictionary. Rebate is the correct word for a recess. Proper English it is.

  • @SmylysTutorials Yes it will. And Crucial has the RAM for $12.99. It is not that difficult to do. Just have to be careful.

  • Great video! I just got the em355-n571 which I believe is identical to this netbook. Does it matter if the RAM upgrade is PC3-10600, 10666 10700? What did you use?

  • Thanks, worked great. My little netbook is noticeably faster and like to refute another poster, win & starter does reqognize 2GB RAM. And to refute even another Crucial memory doe provide the correct RAM, you do however have to enter the correct product model at their site. Some netbooks have different CPU's and the model # must be correct to get the proper RAM.

  • Will upgrading the RAM void my warranty?

  • Hi I'm jw if you could give me the exact model number (name?) etc of what ram was purchased or is it already in the description. If so I apologize in advance. I'm kind of a "noob" when it comes to computers and would just like to be reassured.

  • bet tut video on d255 ram upgrade on youtube, ty

  • Hi there wonder if one of you can help me out the model i have is the D255-2DQcc i cant seem to find particular ram i need, mind you i am a dumb so..any way just wonderd if one of you guys could point me in the right direction?

  • @toxtethogradey google "crucial memory" they have some of the best databases on RAM upgrades. Put in your model netbook, and it will recommend which memory is best. I just bought a 2gb stick for 12.99 free shipping for my d255

  • Does upgrading up to 2gb matter?

  • @Zerb012345 did u listen to the first 45 seconds of this video?

  • Thank you very much. this is the best demo i have seen on upgrading Acer Aspire D255. Thanks again.

  • Hey buddy, you know what is the maximum RAM this product can take?

  • @hotjonee 2gb max

  • Thank you. I've just upgraded my D255 to 2gb 800Mhz Kingmax with your help :)

  • gostei, estou satisfeito com ele, mas realmente 1 GB é pouco pra rodar o W7, ja tenho o pente de 2gb e depois desse video ficou facil p trocar!!! Thanks from Brazil !!!

  • Great job. V cool & reassuring technique. V important to display the fingers maintaining pressure at certain points of the plastic housing while pushing in tabs; then using plastic card to release the right side of the keyboard. My board got slightly twisted (I didn't check out your video tutorial before); also, the tabs remained stuck. I had to cut out minute rectangles from a plastic card to sub as tabs after slotting back in the board. Not pretty, but the pc is runnning.

  • is this the model same as

    Acer-Aspire-One-10.1-AOD255E-Netbook-PC-with-Intel-Atom-N455-Processor-Windows-7-Starter/15739065

    or is it different? ty

you can get at walmart or no?

  • @UEofMusic Yes that is the same model.

  • Hey I just bought a Acer D255E-1802 and upgraded the memory, but also wanted to upgrade the HDD. Any one know which HDD will work . I want a fast hard drive, space isn't too big a concern.

  • @remembermorrison check out my other video about upgrading the hard drive to an SSD drive to double or triple the performance

  • Got my ram stick today and it worked great! I made a vid of the install on my channel.

  • Thanks for this video! It was just what I needed to see before I started my upgrade. Your video tutorial really helped! Thanks again.

  • Great Video. I have the same netbook in blue. I ordered the 2g gSkill 204-pin ddr3 so-dimm 1066 pc3 8500 from newegg. It should be here this week and i'll be using your vid to install. Many thanks.

  • @Keith1212ofxbox360 That may or may not work, it depends on the last 5 digits of the model number, example D255E-13639. From what I understand, some of these work with both PC8500 and PC10600, however some models only take one or the other....

  • @sseiyah i have the D255E-13438. I did the Crucial Memory Advisor tool and it show the same result. But i went with the cheaper Gskill after reading some good reviews.

  • @sseiyah Will this increase performance for gaming? I want to play Team Fortress 2 on the netbook, but I'm not sure if this upgrade can do the job.
