I suppose that many mainstream Christians would say that I actually only subscribe to the Christian ethic and am not really "saved." But that's OK. I still have a lot of fun. And I still maintain a faith and prayer life (although my prayers are about peace of mind / healing / guidance-direction) Peace.
It sounds like to me that you believe in church. You enjoy the community and fellowship. You have developed many close friendships with other parishoners and you believe that a strong faith is good for your children. Did I come close? For the few members in my family that still attend regularly, that is what keeps them going to church. 95% of them know the bible is not the word of God and they don't care. They love the church. It would be interesting to know how many attendees feel that way.

@Maddy10c- a third of the earth is atheist, 80% of america might be christian, but that doesn't mean the world is. i garauntee you i know more about the bible than anyone who sets foot in a church. i'm a jew, we know most of the bible is made up fiction, and we don't hide that. I don't think israel is doing things right, and i eat pork every now and then, but i belive in god. evangelicals do not represent the majority of god lovers, just the loudest section of the zoo's monkey cage/ ape house.

80% of the Earth is NOT Christian. They belong to various religions. Christianity is about a third of the world (and one of the most forceful, fancy that!). Islam is a close second and the fastest-growing (also very forceful...hmm...). But over half the world is non-Christian, and more than 1/3 of the world is non-monotheistic.
That's not even covering WHY religion is so popular in more populated, less educated portions of the world.

What about the diet of the koala? Without the eucalyptus tree they wouldn't be able to survive. Did the eucalyptus also go extinct everywhere but australia? Possible as well. While I fail to completely buy into the Big Bang Theory as the only way the universe could have begun... logic prevents me from believing that the universe was the intentional act of some self-creating sentient life-form with the power to produce matter and energy and to from space-time from nothing...

So they turned to stories of Great beings, which, to them seemed logical... at this point in time, regardless of my beliefs i have no burden until you give evidence of your claim. For example, if i walked up to you and told u i could survive a shotgun blast to the face, since that's unlikely you might tell me to prove it. At that time it would be unreasonable for me to tell you to prove to me that i wouldnt survive it, id have to back up my claim.

Only because you missed the point. Research the issue more and you'll see that science's lack of understanding regarding ecosystems did not prevent the FACT that the sun was not needed. Therefore, the burden is on both of us. You cannot state that something is not without proof, just as I cannot say something is, without proof.

I find it funny, though, that while we atheists have no proof there ISN'T a god (because it's impossible to prove a negative), you probably believe that there is a god, and it happens to be the specific Desert God of War known as Yahweh. How do you know it's not Allah, Zeus, Thor, or even some god you've never heard of?
Agnostic atheists believe there is no way of knowing 100% there's no god. But we're pretty damn sure the gods of all these baseless religions don't exist.
