  • This is from a series jazz columnist and afficionado Ralph Gleason produced and emceed on public television [the jerry-rigged network was known as NET (National Educational Television) back then] between 1961 and '68. It was not initially seen in New York because there was no "educational" TV channel operating in that area until WNDT {WNET today} signed on in September 1962.
