I remember back as a kid the Lego brochures I used to get in the mail depicting their different sets. Even then it was a tad deceiving. They used to set up lavish displays which were never part of the sets.  So many pirate sets lost because they didn't float well in water...

I agree, they should be clear on the package that it doesn't come with tracks. Because (I don't know if you already know this) Lego make trains sets that do come with track. In fact, I own a few of their "Hobby trains" (Kits based on real trains).

I'm not sure about this but the last lego set I bought was very flimsy. The pieces weren't tight enough I guess, they kept falling off. It was a small set though, a small ... not even a fire truck, it was a small vehicle that holds the equipment? I dunno, I haven't bought any more sets after that. The pieces wouldn't hold on to our other lego pieces too :S

I have that train. I does not smoke, has no light-up dynamite, does not come with tracks, and Buzz oblivously doesn't fly. I didn't expect it tho come with these things anyway. What I learned is that you should ALWAYS look at the product on lego.com. they NEVER sugarcoat anything with the product pictures there.

Lego is famous for adding things like that to the packaging. As a kid I always could tell if it was added effect so I don't its deceiving, there just trying to made the box look nice.

Alot of toy train packagings have smoke with the trains not actually smoking. I never was gullible enough to fall for it when I was younger, I usually just look to see if it specifically says that the train smokes

I don't really think it's decieving, Lego does that with some packages, like with those older adventure sets showing explosions on the box (you know what I'm talking about, with that Lego character based on Indiana Jones? I forget his name). Also I have the Harry Potter train and I think the package also showed smoke and a train track (not 100% sure but I think it did). And everyone knows you can just look on the back of the package to see what's really in it.

Also, I don't think they're misleading. If they had LED dynamite or steam coming from the top of the train, they'd clearly say so on the box. For example, the Lego Star Wars Ep 3 toys showed that the lightsabers had LEDs inside. Or the Woody, Buzz and RC set (that's the one I have!) showed that it had motorised action

When you buy basic legos, i think everyone understands there wont be much special effects, if it was a "special" train, with specialized pieces (like the body as 1 solid piece of plastic) it would be possible. But the tracks are VERY deceiving, when i was young i bought a spiderman lego train from spiderman 2 and the tracks were the best part, putting the train on the tracks and pushing it

I love LEGO, I love the Wild West and I love trains, so yes, I have the Train Set. It didn't have a tender so I made one instead. And Woody's Roundup, I''m gonna get that, and I think that LEGO should do more Wild Wests. They've resurrected their Pirates, Trains and City ranges, but no Wild West sets. Still, I'm glad to see sets like these but in more of the Wild West theme which is my all-time favourite theme in LEGO sets. Do you think LEGO should make more Wild West sets? What do you think?

@TheToyChannel I had some Lego sets back in the 90’s for the most part they were ok but in general I have always found the boxes to be misleading. There were lots of pictures that showed extra Lego people that were not in the set. Unfortunately I don’t have the pictures or the sets anymore so I can’t prove it. Anyway my comment was using an extreme example(of being brutally honest) of toy companies in general and not specifically Lego.
