Folks, please visit my video on this subject. I have joined a class action law suit and have received $200 in gift certificates to best buy from Samsung, trying to make me feel better about the cost of my repairs. It can be bad capacitors, it can also be a bad touch pad but in my case it was both capacitor being blown and the motherboard. Please....see my video. nvdwarriorLTC is my username and you can search for Samsung power on power off problems and my video will come up. Join the fight!
My new 21' Samsung LCD monitor is less than a month old. And it started doing something similar. It works for about 10 seconds when I boot my PC, then goes off. Turns on and off again. The time it takes to turn on again seem to increase with time. Thankfully I've got my warranty.. but still this kinda thing does ruin your confidence of samsung products..
I have a problem where my 6 series turns the sound down all by it'self. If I turn it off and on at the power it will be ok for a bit then do it again. It's like I'm doing it from the remote even though I'm not (have ruled out the remote). I can't even turn the sound up when this happens because the signal to turn the sound down is constant :(
I just bought samsung LCD TV and it immediately broken on the second day. It acts like the tv in this video. I feel really disappointed . And wondering why so many people like samsung tv? the tv does not entertain my family but bring lots or troubles and worries. I do not like hi tech !!! It is in vulnerable to any tiny defects. What we can to do is suffering this frustration.
I have the same problem with my Samsung lcd 50, just after 2 years the picture do not come on at all but the sound it is working. Can anyone help me please? What can i do about this mess
Got a new 4-series about 2 days ago and the same day after i turned off the tv, it suddenly turned it self on and then off again about a couple seconds later. Could se a dim light coming from the screen as it did so.
It's an automatic firmware update setting. Turn it off, it'll stop doing that.
This is only the case if it clicks a ' while' after you've turned it off, seems to light up and then turns right off with a click. It's a function of the TV to check for new firmware automatically. Some models come from the factory to do it a specified amount of time after you turn it off (like mine was set at 45 minutes) and some at a specific time of day (say 3am if the TV is off...)
mine had done this three time and yesterday was the third time it did this... i got this tv like on the last week of december of 2009... thank God i still have a year of warranty from Samsung.. if it dose it one more time I will contact samsung but i should do it anyway...
my 4 month old LN40B530 is kinda doing this! the only difference is mine stays off when it shuts down, and you need to unplug it to start it back up. warranty covers it, but its still a huge piss off.
This problem is the Inverter board sending to high of voltage to the back light its causes to tv to turn on then when it warms up it detects the signal and shuts off into protection. To fix this you need to buy a new inverter board off ebay or google inverter boards and there is a place is California that sells them for $130-$190. If you need to know the model number of the inverter board take your tv apart and pull out the inverter board and the model number is printed on the board.
probably could have just gone into the service menu and done a factory reset. My friend's samsung (different model, but doesnt matter) kept reverting any picture settings we made every time we turned it off... Mute-1-8-2, factory reset, and the problem was fixed. $0.00
OK I got it fixed at an electronics shop, they replace some bard thingy I dont really know.. All I know is that repair cost me $400 and I feel raped..
@dskerror you got raped for sure...they have boards in there that are FAIRLY easy to replace (if you know what you are doing and T.V is not under warranty) that would at most cost 80-100$. I find the hardest part is taking the LCD apart for the first time.
@dskerror I'm having the same problem with my Hitachi I let it sit for a week and plugged it back up and it worked fine untill today it back the ghost I dont want to take it to a repair guy I rather buy a new TV it sucks cause I love this tv
My Samsung is doing the same thing and I'm pretty sure my 1 year warranty is up. PISSED!!!!!! It's been doing this intermittantly and now it's just turning on and off ALL MORNING!!!!
Dude this is the only tv i've seen do this... The devils work i swear... dont leave it on at night! (real help:get a new tv, never buy a samsung tv. something like this is happening to me.
