I used to play Contra with my brother and Mike Tyson's Punch-Out with my dad (woulda played them with my sister too but they weren't her style). A shared fanship of Joe & Mac (on Super NES) led me to become friends with someone in middle school who would later become my college roommate (we're still huckleberry LAN buddies to this day). Nostalgia overload!

Pats a real collector my man, you can't call yourself a collector when 75% of your library consists of donated carts that are in garbage conditions. Whats sad is that I can put all those games (and some) on a flash drive and play the rom on my computer. It doesn't beat having the cartridge/cover/booklet etc but I probably have near all of them (in rom format). You probably won't get rid of your collection but I can just burn them and give away copies lol...Nice collection none the less.

@PatTheNESpunk Anyone who grew up playing NES knows the ROMS will never compare to playing the real thing. Waiting for Christmas to finally get that game you knew everyone else in school would be playing, putting hours of pressure packed time into beating it (cause if you died, that was it. No saves). ROMS are great, don't get me wrong, but it'll never be the same as holding that controller in your hand. ROMS are a cheap prostitute; fun, but not the same experience.

The feeling of actually getting and owning the game physically in a personal NES collection is much more alluring than just playing them on roms. Thats the whole point of collecting in the first place.

Pat is collecting these because its something important to him. It represents his youth and all the fun times he's had. I'd do the same with Playstation games if I had the money.
