You know, I remember the makers of this game and "Shattered Dimensions" saying that they stopped the free-roaming so they could focus on the combat. Well, the combat wasn't anything special. It was like "Web of Shadows" in terms of combat. Except without the fun of swinging around New York getting to really feel what it's like being Spider-man.
