depending on where you stand now there is a sale of goods act which parliament has set. which gives you the right to have it fixed or replaced! look into it message me back if you need to x
This is definitely a faulty screen, I have seen many plasmas with this fault whilst working for Sony. My advice would be not to waste any money on trying to repair this TV unless you can get a screen real cheap.
Also, If it was only the y-board at fault you would either get a completely blank screen or exactly half a picture, not what you have.

probably one of the boards on the side ribbon is lose or board is bad open it and check that
