the aztecas and mexicas are two differents tribes, the mexicas were in the yucatan's peninsule and the aztecas were in teotihuacan (actually mexico city)

@micozito No the Aztecs called themselves Mexica. The Yucatan Peninsula was inhabited by the Yucatan MAYA. Teotihuacan was abandoned centuries before the Mexica arrived in the Valley of Mexico. Maybe you're confusing Teotihuacan with Tenochtitlan. The latter was the capital of the Mexica and the Triple Alliance

Aztecs build Tenochtlitlan, they came from the north. When they arrived in the valley of Mexico the city of Teotihuacan was already there. Teotihuacan was buil the Toltecs, the ancesters of the Mayan and other tribes, nobody knows what happen to the Olmes or where did they go.
